For some reason there is a dog under my bed and there was a pair of overgrown children there a few minutes ago too...I'm just trying to charge my iPad.

Today has been a day of very wet weather at times. There has been much flooding in the west of the state , our garden is absolutely sodden but we are at least dry and comfortable.

A bit of a weepy day for me. OH has been , all things considered , doing very well past couple of weeks and I know I've been lulled into a false sense of everything's fine. When we met up with oncologist prior to chemo yesterday I was made aware that it is just a false sense. Reality came and gave me a bit of a bite on the bum. Oncologist is lovely and kind and gentle but very honest too, which is hard. Cancer is crappy!

Today we had visit from palliative care team , 'do you like dogs?' As Haggis was already outside saying hello. 'Yes.' That's okay then.

Our estate agent here came round , ostensibly to see leaky ceiling ( which strangely after such heavy overnight rain hadn't leaked, must be directional). Also did annual check of house, took photos ! Yikes! I had clothes horses full of wet washing everywhere...anyway , house is tidy! Children's rooms are tidier....DD1's room of doom...'hmmmm, what a lot of stuff she has' yes! She's a clutter bug.

Got a pair of denim shorts in an op shop for $5.00 I'm hopeful one day it will be dry and warm enough to wear them.

Had the yummiest steak pie for dinner with roast potatoes, roast parsnips. Cabbage, cauliflower , broccoli and carrots. Stuffed.

    Made 2 banana loaves.

    Have a fabulous day :)

Life seems all about hospitals and worry over poorly loved ones at the moment so need to find time to dwell on pleasures.

Sleepless nights mean that I am rattling through reading material at a rapid rate , the latest was The Loney by Andrew Michael Hurley, a disturbing but absorbing read.

Enjoying autumn fruits, last of the summer strawberries with plums in a crumble and the apple tree is now yielding up some beauties so stewed apple for tea tonight.

Time spent at the yard with lovely equine pal, good to catch up with other owners and chat about horsey stuff.

Last visit to toxic work place to do handover and walked away with head high feeling have left the role in much better state for the next incumbent.

Gorgeous apricot sky driving home last night, walk with Captain S and the girls in the twilight, and breath....

We had the fan out for the first time all summer last night, rocketing temperatures and muggy with it.

Edited to say yes Mhags, cancer is crappy, gentle blessings from our home to yours x
  • LAINEY have you finished for good at work? If so HOORAH and well done!!!

    1) Sleeping in our own bed last night, cool, calm, quiet and comfortable and even waking up in the night I was able to drift off again, oh my word, that's good!

    2) A beautiful day outside today and the prospect of a walk after lunch with Sue and Charlie retriever which will make Cookie deliriously happy! I think we'll go across the common through the woods there and then come back along the footpath under the trees, life as normal will be very welcome again.

    3) Cooking home grown produce in my own kitchen, I've a big slow cooker full of pasta sauce, all of the ingredients for which are home grown including the cider I used instead of wine.

    4) Harvesting a big bunch of hydrangea heads to dry for the winter and go in my big earthenware jug (found for £1 at a boot fair many years ago) it cheers up the lounge in the darker winter months and along with teasels, conifer branches with tiny cones on and anything else I can find it's all FREE!

    5) The ironing is done, including all the holiday washing that dried overnight, I love to see an empty ironing basket!
  • DD Bah Humbug. Dogs under the bed. LT :heartpuls and to those in need.

5 Lot of hot air about some lamb pie! Minds me of the old empire cinema and watching MP The Holy Grail. I see artefacts from the film are on sale. Check eBay then!

4 Doctors later for the results of the latest test. Oh and appointment for the check on Jenny's loose wire! Yes, she beats on, but one of her wires is loose, so if you are reading this within 500 miles of BoP, you could be electrocuted, Mhags, your safe!

3 Got some bar guns yesterday. Strawbs, cheap. Mince, cheap, herrings, cheap. So we are having fruit salad, and strawbs. Strawbs and biscuits. And after tea. More strawbs. There is a thread around here about strawbs going off. Note to readers. Inn house of BoP. Strawbs get eaten. they do not go off!

2 Well what can I say. I see the usual cheating frogs at Parc de Princes again. Not only a stupid goal, but no sending off. Now I do not hold a grudge, but the cheats still have my leather jacket, left there in late February 1984, a few days after PSG and St Etienne had removed the seats.

Come back tomorrow and we will run that one again.
  • LaineyT: Congratulations on leaving the toxic place, are you moving onto something new or taking a break

    1. All the animal areas have had their weekly deep clean and their washing is out on the line dried.
    2. Tobi went for a vet check today and he has said it will take about another month for him to recover to normal and meds for life, more meds issued but at least he is enjoying taking it.:p
    3. Home made things blackberry juices all frozen, apple juices all frozen, and puree boiled and bottled. Feels very productive.:)
    4. I loaded up my car to run recycling errands 4 bags of clothes to the heart foundation, money out for weekend break and it would be rude not to look around for YS bargains. Then filled up with fuel and ready for the off tomorrow. I have to say we haven’t been to Mr T in a long time and after today’s visit I doubt we will be back now. I picked up 2 sandwiches for 50p each which will feed us on our journey tomorrow.:T
    5. RTC Li$l steak and chips with left over salad for dinner
    6. I am feeling rather guilty as I should have topped and tailed the house completely today but all it got was a quick hoover, well it will still be here to do when we get back from the weekend.:o:o

That's all sounds very stressful, Ampersand. :-(

Had a bit of a nightmare afternoon/evening here...

Went to see the duty dr after work with what I thought was anaemia. Started over the holidays with tiredness, mild but constant headache, few palpitations. Back to work, all stepped up a gear, and I have found myself having to rest halfway up stairs (obviously longer stairs than at home).

Popped into drs thinking I'd be in and out in 5 minutes. It went "temperature fine, blood pressure fine" then silence.....

then "I can see now why you can't walk upstairs. While we've been chatting, your pulse rate has been 50 then straight to 120 and stopped there".

So beta blockers prescribed, blood tests and ecg to follow (possibly tomorrow). I added to her woes by telling her my dad was diagnosed with heart failure at my age.

    Spiffing :-(

    Anyway, pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Work went quite well.

    3) Lovely new medical centre.

    4) Helpful doctor.

    5) Hens fine

    6) Tasty tea cooked at school by smaller son.

    7) GBBO and cake cooked by smaller son this evening.
  • Firth: I mis read your No.6 as "Tatty tea" well I thought it might make you smile :-)..

Frith. Please go to paragraph 3!

You do not need BoP to hark on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about proper food do you! Chuck out the glycerine coloured spreads, the acidic drinks and carp food. Well if you did, you would be more BoP than you think! Got it. More later.

Frith. I see the smarties have been dished out. Oh yeah, one pill cure all. Mind the head though on the first one, it is a choker! Feet stamp. Now where was that tread mill. One has to stamp your feet if you want to get things done. I could go on and on again!

5 Ha, watched the totteringham last night. What a larf. They are out, hopefully. And as you know BoP does not like the frogs. Was it not Monaco who bought the tin pot some time ago. Cheats, the country is full of them. Just off out to get BoPsie some nice Aussie Red!

4 I know, you are all after the results. There inn! Now as mentioned throughout this thread over time, BoP has harked about proper foods. Well lets us see what happens when you have proper foods, and not glycerine coloured spreads. And them cakes, filled with the sucrose syrup pulped from the rusks of corn. And stay clear of the foamed drinks. I am talking proper foods, such as Marmite and Cheese (Proper mature cheddar!) sandwich with proper butter. Snorkers grilled. Poached eggs on toast, hot buttered marmite toast. Fresh concentrate of orange, or lemon and eau de faucet. Proper drinks such as hair crunching wobbleades! On and on and on I have been harking about it! Now for the result!

As the quack a couple of years ago recommended that a healthy cholesterol for BoP would be less than 4. As BoP was never higher than 5, and wanting a substantial 40% reduction form the previous 4.3 at 2.7 bad ldl and 1.4 good ldl. BoP is now standing tall. Sparra, please sit down before reading on! Frith move now to note 2!

BoP is now 3.3. That is less than 4!
    Good hdl is 1.5
    Bad ldl is 1.5

Got it. Now eat prop[er and like BoP, who because of his lifestyle, is going to live forever!

2 Nite is club of the camera, and a straight knock out competition for all. As BoP is duly the projectionist, I can give you the result here and now. BoP came first, second, and third. Not bad for a night out!

You did not get here today by not putting your feet forward, so why hang back

Frith. It took 4 years for the quacks to actually sort out the kink on the LAD artery. Having not had high cholesterol, with others already on the statins younger than me. I complained of getting out of breath and this was dismissed as being part of the loss I suffered when I had pneumonia in 1991. Even though I had ECG and ECG and ECG and ECG nothing showed until one day BoP was no too well. And even then when the thirst ambulance arrived, the ECG was normal.

Even playing football aged 17, I was dizzy once! Oh, you have an irregular heart beat. Nothing to worry about! Bull excreta.

Then later that day inn February 2012, I hit the deck. Down inn one. Pacemaker fitted the following day! And ignorance of the kink on the LAD that was contributing to the sinus norde failure.

Now, as part of my group, we call it coronary heart disease. It covers a multitude of complaints!

Now onto my contribution on this day. BoP Royal Air Force. January 1980 January 1989. Note BoP tasting proper waters, not foamed keg nitrogen enriched chemicals!
BoP, dashing aged 18! & Be careful, I have matured well. And I am not a slap head either!

    A day most lazy .

Finally have internet and phone line , it's been down a few days.
We've just had regular heavy rain compared to other parts of state which are severely flooded.
Watched a trashy but scary made for TV film with DD1...we were screeching in terror.
Made a curry(ish) in slow cooker, could have been spicier.
Made a caramel sauce to go with yesterday's banana loaf. None for me still no sugaring .

Apart from a walk up to dry cleaners that was about it.

    Have a good day
