Thought I'd best write some weekend pleasures as a new week begins .

Well there was work , what a palaver of mis-communication, hungover staff( honestly love, I don't want to hear how rough you feel!), not enough customers and a lot of cleaning needing doing...I'm just marking my time there! I was going to write to boss about levels of cleaning standards but then thought he would just roll his eyes and do nothing about it!

Got $50 for laundry then I'd lost it :( , had shoved it in my back pocket and it's obviously fallen out. hope whoever found it made the most of it!

Wore my new to me $1 dress ! I like it.

Sunday morning, up with the larks...or the black birds...and call to friend from home.

Then out and about and met up with a customer I'm friendly with ( magazine lady) and we had a nice catch up at a totally different cafe.

Home and OH and I went out for brunch. He is seriously famished at the moment and just needs to eat all the time! This is good....but I've realised I don't need to eat at the same time! He has regained the weight he lost with his first chemo cycle. He is still very skinny. I am not!

Then after an aldi shop...which if we had just bought groceries would have been an alright price...we dropped stuff at home then headed out to b and q type place and stocked up on soil to fill the pots and hanging pots we had found in our trolley in aldi!

Home and planted up strawbs and tomatoes to tumble out of hanging pots , transferred a few plants about, planted some more sweet peas and had a nice pottering time in the garden. Haggis dog is a very interested gardening dog...read ...nose in pots!

Then we popped over to our chinese friends to return a plate , lots more in our country. In your country stuff! Quite fascinating the cultural differences. They are such a lovely couple.

    Home and watched Casualty.

I do believe I have a just me and my dog day :) everyone will be out and about.

    * A relaxing fun car trip with my most loved DH to Hatch NM for their world famous (well famous in the US anyway;)) green chile. Three bushels bought that was roasted, cleaned and ready to be bagged for freezing, which DS2 did when we got home. 9 hrs round trip but oh my goodness is it ever worth it.

Back with my Monday pleasures , such as they were!

Rainy day. So plans to be out in garden didn't happen.

I did have most of the day in peace and quiet which was nice and then as soon as DD2 came in the noise levels increased!

Washing, ironing, hoovering, washing floors , clean bathrooms.

Made pumpkin and chorizo soup....oh my , tis a tad spicy for me and for good measure I'd added 2 little chillies that were lurking in the fridge. DD2 had came home with loads of bread both days this weekend. I sliced a share and tear loaf and toasted it. Rather nice.

Also being organised, spag Bol made for tomorrow ( chemo day so at hospital all day ) and I've the start of a steak pie in the slow cooker at the moment for Wednesday dinner.

Made an apple sponge for OH's pudding craving, shall ice it once it's cooled.

    Watched Poldark.

Had to query where last week's pay was with boss...and funnily enough he was just dealing with it right there and then! However as I'm with a different bank to him it won't go in until tomorrow ...should have been paid last Wednesday. As I've said I'm marking my time.

Do have a lovely day Lainey I hope your mum is improving , laughter is good medicine. Hugs for you all.

Frith and PK good luck with job applications.

Hope Barbara Hen feels better soon :)

Right now everyone is home , peace and quiet absolutely shattered.
  • 5 just when you thought it was safe in the yard, I had to do the six monthly on Raffles. He has had his de fleecing spray. It keeps him active and free from little bits. No blood was spilled during the course of brushing him.

4 He has been fed as well. Last day he had done of the chicken, from BoP's lunch. He was licking his lips. All gone this morning. Our new waste if space food bin remains un touched by hands. Wonder if we will get a letter for not using it. Never mind. New bin for the small bag came. It is broken. New one on its way.

3 On that subject. Last week or two the melon for the salad of fruit has been £1. This week it has gone up to £2.79. It was left on the shelf. Apricots were purchased instead. Oh well! Not had apricots since sago pud at school. No?

2 Day had a rejection for interview. Well at last BoP back on the market. So applied for another place. Got email back saying it was the place I had interview. Oh. When did I go. Found that three others had also been seen fit as not Mr Perfect. Job now on gov site and will be counted as a statistic by some bureaucrat. That is five vacancies then, and the previous one filled. Not.

    Lies. Damn lies, and statistics

Quick pleasures for today as am tired.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) After getting an interview for another job, had a wonderful day at work including a parent coming in to school to thank me, at lunchtime!!!

    3) Barbara continues to get better. It amuses me watching them do pick your own raspberries, pecking the low ones off the canes.

    4) Cleaned the bathroom including the mouldy bits of grout.

    5) Had a hot dog for tea at mum and dad's. Was going to be a barbeque but it started raining.

    6) Helped bigger son do the French homework that was supposed to take the 6 weeks of the holidays... he started it today and we did four fifths.

    7) Sons both had quite good day at school - bigger son's first since July due to work experience last week. They've both been insubordinate (if that's the word) in different ways - one creeping away unseen during a session therefore turning a toilet trip into "a mission" and one decorated the school logo on the front of his brand new planner by putting a little fez on the head of the swan!

    8) Have enjoyed the Last Leg and am about to listen to Just a Minute.

    1. Reading a good book on my phone as I'm too tired to hold a real book (the shame!)

    2. Suffered from a 1st world problem tonight - struggled to get the cork out of the prosecco!

    3. Fun lessons today, although the children were a bit freaked out by the task I tried to get them to do in science, so am going to go over the learning later in the week, and give them a less onerous writing task. It is the beginning of the year, after all....

    4. Enjoyed break duty - never thought I'd say that :) Lots of happy children running around and being mostly pleasant to each other.

    5. Did some marking whilst watching DD's netball training - best answer of the lot was "Pineapple" to a maths question...

    6. NSD. Getting better at those...

    7. PPA tomorrow afternoon, yay :)

    8. Cuddles with DD, bliss xxx
  • Need to get back into noting my pleasures of the day.

    1. Fresh brewed coffee made by Dh.
    2. Sat in bed reading this morning with said coffee.
    3. Thankful to NHS staff for recent op & now much less pain.
    4. Lovely sunshine, was able to sit in garden and relax.
    5. Reading more free books on my kindle.
    6. More crochet done.

I'm glad Barbara is getting better.

    * DH grilled cheeseburgers outdoors. He is still enjoying the Key Lime Pie I made him for a treat. DD2 loves it too.

    * Finished Rose & Maloney series. I really like Sarah Lancashire, a new>to me<actress. Continuing to watch Ripper Street on Netflix. Mark Macfadyen isn't bad either. I quite liked him as Darcy.

    * All but one of the yungens made contact today. The negligent prodigal will not escape me. :D Call your mom young man!!

    * DD1 took Sequoia to the New Mexico State fair. I got a FaceTime report from Quoye on their way home. She ate canny (candy) and got a rainbow dog (stuffed animal). She said it didn't have a name yet but was a gurl. She said she saw baby ducks and chicks, lambs, calves and a pony who tried to eat her French fries. She talks a lot for two yrs. :)

    * DD2 reported that she got a doggie DNA test for her mongrel. Your guess is as good as mine and I've seen the dog. Results pending.

    * DD3 has just a few more months before uni graduation in December. She is counting down.
Maybe a semester off and then she will start a masters program. Her job pays for her masters degree entirely.

    * DD1 went to a research seminar given by the Dept of the Navy. Her research is not up to that level yet but two top University of NM Medical school administrators talked to her and one wants to collaborate. He's very well known in his field so this is promising.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

My pleasures: changing all the bedding and putting on freshly laundered pj's after a hot shower and going to bed early with a mug of luxury drinking chocolate. Still didn't help my insomnia

Getting excited awaiting return of boyf after 3 months away

Watching star trek on Netflix all day, then the Paralympics

how annoying about the job bop
good luck to you, frith and pk with job applications
off on holiday friday, teaching event all day thursday (during which i am doing a 1 hour workshop, not yet written eek) and work still piling on. and yet the pleasures can still be found. so for sunday
    2) mr piano came round for lunch on sunday, without dog as dog in kennel.
we went to max of tk and i bought much needed jeans (though still keen to patch old ones). then we went to mr t. asked him what cereal he likes. no added sugar muesli he replied picking up pen of al. need branded? i asked as a true mse-er. one 49p per 100g, the other 18p!!! guess which one went in the cupboard.
    3) first choral evensong of the new academic year. lovely. new people in the congregation in Dundee for new studies and new jobs
    4) mr piano and i walked back via fish and chip shop (tay fry inn, not silvery tay as tay fry in on way home). 2 fish and shared a chip. mr piano paid. very very very nice fish
    5) he needed to be at dundee airport 6am monday. i suggested walking rather than taxi as footbridge at end of my road now open to all. walked dogs to time, 12 mins. would take longer by taxi! mr piano convinced.
    then yesterday
    1) despite very humid weather washing dried on line
    2) first teaching session masters students in the morning. critical reflection and critical reading of literature. let us critique :D
    3) tuna salad for lunch. hm of course
    4) dd2 picked me up from work and we had left over pizza for tea (frozen left-overs from last time we had 2 for 1 dominoes)
    5) oh and maybe more for sunday, mr piano has some nice sofas and i want to replace mine. we don't know how long mr piano will be staying (could be months, could be years lol) so have suggested i get rid of mine (they were bought when children young and i was very happy to have drawing room as children's den, now i want a more grown-up sitting room), he bring his, then when he does leave i will buy more, but this will delay that financial outlay.
