  • 6) My daughter rang me on her way home from work deliriously happy because she'd just had a phone call from the hospital to say all the test results for the unhatched baby were totally normal and there are no other problems.....turns out we ARE having a baby in January after all.....HHHOOOOORRAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

    Fantastic news Mrs LW :T

  • This was a difficult painful day for the Mila family. We took our little old Toby rascal to the vet and had him put down. I'm heartsick tonight and have cried and cried. We have had him for half of our marriage.
Such a joyous loving fun boy. Grieving now.

What a hard decision to have to make - genuinely sorry to hear news like that. Sending very dodgy hugs and hope you don't mind :grouphug:

  • Quite a slow day for me really -

1 - Managed to get everything done in work at a nicely relaxed pace!

2 - Visiting a mate later tonight just for a catch up - haven't seen for a while (my fault) so should be good

3 - Did all my banking and reconciled YNAB:D

4 - Dinner from the freezer before I go

5 - A nice NSD today and one in which I manfully resisted the temptation of the office sweetie tin

    Have a good night all!

  • Mila: I am so sorry, they bring us such joy but it is so hard when they need to leave, I feel your pain we have had a very hard year of animals leaving.
    Mrs LW: Fantastic.

We spent the entire day yesterday until 1am today at the outlaws, they needed some help and support with a few bits and bobs and it was a lovely day. :)

While I was over there yesterday I applied or a contract, received a call today where I was asked to interview tomorrow. Yikes I feel very positive about it:) but it will depend if they can be flexible as location isn’t ideal.

We picked up our Tobi from the vets, his body has apparently decided to hang on to all fluid so after 2 nights he’s full of diuretics and heart meds for the rest of his life which we are told could be a week, or could be years, at this precise moment though his heartbeat is strong, and he is dancing around the garden as I type but hughe as we desperately need the diuretics to start taking affect very rapidly now so hoping.. The group are glad to have him back but when we picked him up from the vets I got him out there and he literally put a paw in my face sulking. They loved him to bits there and very kindly and very much appreciated did not charge for 2 nights hospitalisation. He will be on meds for the rest of his life but hopefully he will feel ultra special with it.:)

It has been a very spendy time today, just today paid for a new boiler just in time for the winter, a large vet bill from the above and had to fuel the car up.:eek:

Time to put a couple of slices of Costco pizza in the oven.

    1. Cheap dinner with my chums, lovely to catch up with them, but not overly impressed with the HHorse pub chain's efforts...

    2. Lots of guinea pig cuddling today, started and ended my school day with him :) Very good for my well-being.

    3. One of my class is a bit sad that we haven't done any mindfulness activities yet, so to prompt me, he's drawn me 3 colouring in pictures that I can photocopy for the class to do, whilst we hopefully listen to twinkly music :)

    4. I managed to get the sound to work in my classroom tonight!! Woop, woop, attempting to watch Newsround was 'interesting' the other day...

    5. A fab afternoon finding out what the children knew or didn't in French, has given me more of an idea for how to structure the rest of this term :)

    6. Have been asked to cover netball club in a couple of week's time. Very relieved that I have a sporty daughter!!

    7. A useful staff meeting tonight! Laid-back, chatty but we got loads done :)

8.Chatted to my sleepy gal tonight, so love my DD and her wicked sense of humour!

    9. Have got to do my outfit for tomorrow, eeek! Really looking forward to it though :)

    What a day!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Bigger son had a lovely day at work experience again. I think they've forgotten that he is not supposed to be using the tools because he's been tiling today and generally being entertained by his colleagues! He did come home bandaged up after cutting himself on the edge of a tile but it looks OK. He got to work with an electrician too and wired up 3 sockets.

    3) Smaller son had a good day at school too although the famous school cat has died. :-( I had seen him a couple of times and got in my car once to find him asleep in the gap between my bonnet and windscreen.

    4) Work weird in that some bits were interesting, one lesson I was asked if I knew anything about history (one of these days I shall tell them of my past jobs/degrees...), had one person become ill, a fire alarm and a deserved and rather gentle telling off from a member of staff for a proper mess I made of something. :-/

    5) Again, the chickens were both good and bad - 2 eggs and 2 perky hens and Barbara looking at death's door. Bigger son cried all the way home, I hadn't seen him cry in well over 5 years. Then we went back for a 3rd time and Barbara ate a little bit and had a massive drink, which calmed us a bit. Will check again first thing.

    6) Watched GBBO from yesterday and listened to the Archers.

    7) Bigger son had not only remembered it is my brother's birthday this weekend but got him a plane from a tool sale (he keeps borrowing our plane!) AND taken it apart, cleaned it and sharpened it for him. :-) I've bought him the sea fishing hooks and weights he wanted plus a book about lighting the perfect wood fires.

Think that's all for now. Looking forward to the weekend and no more 6.30 starts...

It's so calming to read about the rhythm of your lives.

My only sister/sibling called today. She has been put in a hospice facility....stage 4 cancer of the lungs. She had been in remission for almost two years but it is back with a vengeance. She doesn't want anymore treatment. Her husband died 1 1/2 yrs ago. She said she is so tired and ready to go. She said she has no pain and sleeping most of the time. I cried all afternoon.
My sister got mad at me almost twenty years ago because her 25 yr old daughter chewed out my 12 yr old daughter and I thought she owed my daughter an apology. She stopped talking to me because I was critical of her daughter (I said Lori needed to apologize and that was all I said) and a year later when they all moved to Texas she didn't tell me they were moving or give me her new address. It broke my heart. When I saw her husband's obituary in the paper (the family didn't call and tell me) my husband and I drove to Houston to his funeral. I had known him since I was five years old when they first started dating.
It was the first time I had seen her in all those years. She was ill, having just finished chemo treatments. We have talked a few times on the phone since then...me calling her. My husband thinks I should go see her. I'm very conflicted. I honestly have no idea how I feel about going. Processing it at the moment. At this moment I don't want to.

    Blessings today:
    * The green chile stew in the crock pot smells wonderful. I put it on late after talking to my sister and when DH came in its wasn't ready. These things happen. A little thing in the scope of it all.

    * Quoye loved the polka dotted skirt I sent her. She had to put it on and wear it last night until bedtime after it was opened. Toddlers are such a joy. (Unless they are squalling)

    * House cleaned today.

    * DS2 is clearing out stuff. He's a bit of a hoarder so this is significant.

    * Fried pig skins flavored with hot red chile.

The house is so empty without my little Toby. He would have made me feel better with his soft silk coat and his cuddling.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Frith you must be so proud of your boys, what a thoughtful lad the eldest one is to do something so nice for his uncle.

Mila not sure if you are a huggy person so am just sending gentle blessings, you have had a rough week so certainly need them.

    Some pleasures for yesterday,

It was a beautiful day, sunny but fresh and that gorgeous mellow light that only early Autumn can bring.

Went back to bed for an hour in the morning, just come over feeling immensely tired after breakfast, woke up feeling much refreshed.

One of Mum's best friends came visiting, bought all the news of the village and many best wishes, cheered up DM no end as she was having a down day.

Took the girls out around the field in the evening, fresh air and time spent with Captain Scarlet, much needed.

Light the candles when we got home and enjoyed a glass of wine.

Friday evening and very, very wet. It's lashed for most of the day. Have a leak in the family room ceiling. Will need to report it to estate agent.

I've just had chciken pie , mashed potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots for dinner.slightjy stuffed.

I've had a very quiet day today though I was out in garden planting peas and sweet peas befire the rain started.

Had a 'scary day' with DD1. She was calling for me but I kept quiet, then attempted to creep up on her ( crawling along kitchen floor until dog saw me and joined in!) , she then hid in the shoe cupboard until I came out the bathroom, then whilst she was having a shower , I hid under her quilt! Much hilarity! We've not done it for a while.

Yesterday , got a bit of tidying done in back garden. Filled up pots with soil for today's seed planting. Washed patio chairs and table ...much shrieking at blooming spiders, ghastly things. Grass cut.

Had wandered up to library, borrowed a book and reserved another.
Sat and read a magazine .

We had slow cooked chilli con carne made from RTC beef.

Back to work tomorrow ( blah!) still not been paid...my pay date seems to get later and later every week. I seem to need to remind boss 3 weeks out of 4.

anyway, have a great day .
