5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Well, that all sounds excellent, MHags.
McC - I used a similar service a few years ago. It all petered out after about 3 meet ups. Sometimes quite a few days go by (during holidays and weekends) when I do not speak to another adult at all. I hope it is successful for you.
Here are my pleasures for today (Monday).
1) Bigger son off to work experience. When he got home I had the usual "It was awful, boring" etc but as the evening went on he told me more. They went to a factory to order doors and windows (he's working for a housing association), he did Health and Safety training so now believes me when I say you can go to prison for not caring for staff properly!! He likes his boots and can buy them for £10. Tomorrow, Weds and Thurs he has to work 8-5 so that will be a shock ;-)
2) Smaller son went to my brother's for the day. He took the drone and seemed happy enough when he got back. School for him tomorrow - different site, teachers and TA...
3) I went to work. Still got a sensible timetable (could all change!) and have even been given today one random history lesson (my favourite). Children back in today. Had 2 free lessons when they were all having assemblies and form so did some coursework.
4) Quite a few colleagues are having really difficult times at the moment and I don't know if it was hearing about those, or just being back at work, but I felt really quite down by the end of the day. So I went to Ludlow after work! My usual trip round the charity shops got me some White Stuff trousers and a Fenn Wright Manson shirt.
5) Had yesterday's spare baked potatoes for my tea with cheese and chutney.
6) Bigger son had invited his father round to help him lift something in the shed. Not terribly impressed with this so sat in the house then explained to bigger son that this would not be happening again. Quite put the wind up me.
7) Went to see the hens. They have got red mite so have just ordered dusting stuff.
8) All ready for tomorrow, bunkbeds changed, floors downstairs steam mopped, large load of washing done.
9) Just listened to the Archers and got JAM waiting for me.0 -
hugs to those who need them, hisses to rob titchener boooo
1) was in academic procession for principal's welcome so later start. Took the opportunity to take a bag of stuff to the CS
2) procession and welcome was lovely. not done it before. chaplain made me laugh when she said how she had married people who had met on the very first day and we might be sitting next to our future spouse. my neighbouring gents were both far too young - hope i didn't panic them by looking at them :rotfl:
3) lift back to ninewells campus from good friend - £2 saved and a good catch-up
4) lunch with the new students followed by introducing them to programme. they now take part in the overall university induction for the rest of the week
5) home for the last of the coq au vin and to put pork stew together in the slow cooker, and Bruckner prom. :TMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Evening all, it's just gone 6pm and the house feels warm for the first time in ages, usually heating is on by now...either that or I'm overheating but DD2 said it was warm.
Dinner is mince and tatties with some nibbly bits of pakora , samosas as well to free up some room in the freezer. Just need to mash potatoes.
Have made 2 wee fruit sponges for OH's pudding.
I've had a pleasant day pottering around, tidying up, washing, ironing, watching a bit of Uk telly as I did so .
Had tuna mayo pasta for my lunch with another couple of serves left in fridge.
Have not went further than the garden gate to the mailbox earlier.
Did not want to be seen in my 'active wear! And could not be bother changing! So have not spent a thing today after a spendy couple of days.
Caught up on email correspondence.
Finished my library book ...but due to clothing issue will pop up tomorrow and borrow a new one. We have hospital tomorrow anyway, so I shall return the book I borrowed and read last time and drop of some magazines. I'm sure no one would have batted an eyelid at what I was wearing!
2 years ago today we met young master Haggis for the first time, little 3 week old ball of fluff that he was! Today he has lovely clean blankets just brought in off the line . He has a schnooky blankie which he sooks on in the evening (actually he has 3 ) so all nice and clean and he was quite excited when I put them in his crate, he is currently lying at the patio doors waiting on his family coming home. Gorgeous boy.
Right oven is beeping which means dinner is ready , have a lovely day one and all0 -
1) Met a lovely new little dog on our walk today, very small and black with orange eyebrows and paws, very sweet and friendly and when I asked mum what breed she was it was a Lancashire Heeler, one I'd heard of but never seen before.
2) We were fed up so went out for lunch and had lovely baguettes with sausage and onion and for me bacon brie and cranberry sauce, yum!
3) Lots of hazelnuts down on the footpath today but not one intact shell, the squirrels have been partying!
4) Laineys mum came through the operation last night and is pain free this morning, that one is an important one.
5) Packing the suitcase for our trip to Germany this weekend, He Who Knows hasn't been back since the mid 1990s, I'm wondering how much our little village will have changed, we'll see!!!
6) Adding an extra one today as I've just had a cuddle and some beautiful smiles from beautiful Henry who is almost 7 months old and has a smile that rivals the sunrise, he's gorgeous!0 -
1 - Sorted through my storage and brought out the autumn/winter collection of throws. All need a wash and dry to freshen them and get them prepared for battle
2 - Home made soup for lunch with a roll (shop bought). Very tasty.
3- Home made curry for dinner. Now, how could I grow rice?
4 - Friend popping over later tonight for a catch-up. Two bottles of beer from Aldi chilling for his arrival
5 - Changed my PC's background to a lovely autumnal one. Made me smile.
Have a good one chums!:)Wyrd bid ful aread0 -
Feeling [STRIKE]a bit/[/STRIKE]very miserable tonight, I dropped our little guy to the vets but he’s had to in effect go into vet hospital, kindly and thankfully for us they are not charging us for tonight as we were not expecting the news. They are running tests and working out what’s what in order to be able to start him on the right meds. I am literally worried sick,:( we can’t pick him up till Thurs. It’s just as well we have family commitments tomorrow to take our minds off camping out at the vets.
1. The vet bill means we will cut back on a few bits but it’s just part and parcel.
2. Yet to cook dinner, it will be homemade lava burgers with avocado.
3. Looking forward to being out for the day tomorrow, helping family who are a fair distance from here.:)
4. Going to have a hot bath in a bit.0 -
Sorry to hear that, PK. :-(
MrsL - I love Germany, hope you have a great time! Which part are you going to? (Like all foreign countries, I only know the 4 places I've been to!)
Pleasures for today:
1) A slightly better sleep.
2) Felt less stressed than yesterday, when I could have burst into tears at any point.
3) Work OK.
4) Went into town after work for a cup of tea with my school friend.
5) Bought a large frame and put the huge A2 poster from the Folk Festival in it. It looks pretty good, just need bigger son to hang it on the wall for me.
6) Had courgette spaghetti for tea, thanks to the spiraliser.
7) Hens OK, 3 eggs and we threw away their wooden nest box (red mites) and replaced it with a repurposed plastic cat litter tray.
8) Did my parents' car insurance for them using comparison website.
and 9) Smaller son loved his first day back at school! Bigger son did work experience from 8-5 including helping remove an old gas fire and replastering a wall. They were in bed by 8.20!!!
10) In bed also (don't want to keep them awake) and will watch Holby and see how the Archers is going...0 -
So sorry to read about your little guy Purplekitten. It's very hard when animal friends are sick. Mila, thinking of you and your little dog too.
Boo hissss indeed to Rob Tichener. I can't see a good outcome for Helen but scriptwriters are odd creatures. It's not sounding good though:(
Quick pleasures tonight.
1. Family
2. Friends, here and elsewhere.
3. My hairy ginger ninja who is rolling joyously over the clean sofa throws and demanding a belly rub.
4. Books.
5. The wireless. I'm knitting and listening to The Night Watch on radio4 catch upBliss!
