    Hello Uhtred :)

    1. Dropped a load of stuff off at our absolute favourite chazzer, only to discover they were having a mega sale - so bought lots of books for school for 10p each, and quite a few other bits and pieces :):)

    2. Sainsbo's delivered some other bargains; stationery (yay!) and more lunch boxes - as I'll have to take food in each day to new school as there's no shops at all on my new commute. Fingers crossed I might finally lose a bit of weight without chcolate bars to tempt me....

    3. DD and I bumped into her BFF whilst mooch about the local music fest :)

    4. We also enoyed scrumptious sheep's milk icream, nomnom.

    5. Feeling more prepared for tomorrow now.

    6. DD is hugely excited for going into Y7, her uniform is already out, her sports kit is waiting by the front door and she's giving me lots of bear hugs. Bless her cotton socks :)

Mrs LW, we can both bore for our respective boys. We've exchanged comments on those beautiful names who are all ditto men and players before. Have always rated Parra., viz Harinorduquy and Yashvili.
I predict you, too, would love that "Weight of a Nation" YouTube doc. I linked for mila and coach husband :-).

  • Mrs LW I can smell your mouth watering dinner from Kent.

1.It was certainly not an early morning
    2. De cluttering by loading up the caravan with its now clean things back to it. Then cleaned up the vans the bathroom and fridge. The only thing about going away is getting it back up and running and sparkling clean again.
    3. Wearing a new top and sweat pants feels loungy but great.
    4. Sorted out a bin bag full of clothes to be donated, and packed some clothes away to create some space.
    5. I’ve food planned for the week, fresh today and from freezer the rest of the week, today is using up the marrow, stuffing it with mince, topping with cous cous and cheese.

Good morning to you all from beautiful Sydney. Sun is coming up and I can see its reflection on the building opposite. I'm in a very nice hotel and we are on the 23rd floor with views of the museum and Botanic Gardens. ( people with more cash to splash than us ( this was a freebie using points) will have an amazing harbour view)

So, our Sunday started very early at 3.30am, up and out (with a very surprised Haggis getting half of his breakfast rather early!) and parked at long stay airport carpark ( pre booked for savings), along came courtesy bus and dropped us off at terminal and then we took the one hour flight to Sydney. We arrived in Sydney centre around 8am after taking the amazing ( I think) double decker train from airport. We were on the top deck!

Found hotel and dropped off bag and had the most expensive coffee and soft drink ever....shall I just charge this to your room? No I will just pay.....how much? however OH had to have a drink to take all his medicines. We just won't ever have a coffee here again.

Then a tiny wander downhill and we took a ferry to Manly . We had to buy an Opal card ( travel card) but it only cost us $2.50 to travel on a Sunday ...all day , as many times as you wanted on public transport.
It was lovely on the ferry, people use the ferries to commute everyday. Took about 30 minutes or so to get to Manly . We went once before , 5 years ago, it was Anzac Day ( nothing allowed to open in the morning) and it was lashing with rain! Well, yesterday it was glorious. The day was just starting to warm up, we had breakfast outside and then had a wander along the Main Street and veered left and had a look at a Sunday market and then there was the beach. The most stunning aqua colours , the most golden of sand, the most amount of surfers I've ever seen and it was just lovely. Sandals off and I had a wander down to waters edge. I do love the sea. I am very drawn to it.

We spent an hour and a half probably just walking , then stopping and people ( and dog ...so many dogs) watching then walk a bit more and watch a bit more. It was very pleasant with a subtle hint of bittersweet. Wandered back to ferry and didn't have long to wait , back into Sydney harbour and we went for lunch. My husband seems to be very hungry just now , which whilst a fantastic thing ...he needs it...I don't as much...I had pasta, he had shepherds pie. Views of the harbour as we ate.

Then , we wandered along to the Opera House where we were meeting 2 friends / UK colleagues. We had a lovely afternoon in the sun , having a laugh, having a chat ( I tuned out of the industry chat..which wasn't too much I have to say). Sat with them for a couple of hours then it was time to wander back to our hotel, check in and relax for a bit. Phoned kids. Got changed and then ...as OH was hungry , back out to eat. Having seen morning coffee prices we were not eating on the hotel! Took a ferry along to Darling Harbour and being very mindful of the time for return ferry ( now on hourly service) looked for somewhere to eat. It was cheap but certainly not cheerful. So at least we didn't spend too much money on the worst pizzas ever eaten. Ferry back and straight to bed!

The weather was gorgeously warm. Sydney is often warmer than Melbourne anyway but oooh it was nice to feel a bit of warmth....was our first proper warm day in months. We had left cool drizzle.

Today OH is climbing over the Harbour Bridge. Teams of folk were up and down it all day yesterday. Not for me thank you . I shall do something else instead. I might just sit in a park and read my library book. Hotel have said we can leave our bag here again after we've checke out , which is great as we are not leaving until tonight.

Warm and sunny hugs to all who need and warm, firm handshakes to those who don't do hugs :)

Best of luck, MrMHags. I'd rather stay on the ground but I can see it would be an experience!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went to Sainsburys for lunch and shopping for packed lunches (and everything else) next week.

    3) Remembered to get a new spare front door key cut.

    4) Hens well.

    5) Picked raspberries and blackberries.

    6) Had a couple of games of football with smaller son. At one point, his ball went on the roof of the village hall (a flat bit of roof). Some other children were also playing out on the grass and he was convinced they would get on the roof and take his ball/be funny with him (I'm sure they were fine). So he went to get bigger son who is the only one of us tall enough to be able to pull himself onto the roof from the top of the oil tank...

Bigger son strides across the grass and all the other children go quiet and edge away. Smaller son said, "Ooo, we've got a henchman!" :-D

    7) Rather a tasty tea including plenty of corn on the cobs so there are spares for the hens tomorrow.

    8) Watched an Extra Slice of GBBO and had some Welsh cakes whilst doing so.

    9) My school friend phoned.

    10) Reasonably organised for tomorrow. Off to work, bigger son to work experience and smaller son to my brother's.

Hello everyone, a bit ashamed of my absence.
This place is so good for me, but spending too much time on the Internet isn't, and of course my job is internet based.
I need to find a balance again, been here before..!

    * Used two freezer items and lots of veggies for making Cajun chicken stew. Two down and thousands of frozen things to go!

    * I love my Crock pot! Throw stuff in, turn it on low and walk away for 8 hrs. A beautiful thing.

    * DH does not need the sound to watch (American) football on TV. We sit by each other on the couch while he watches it and I watch Netflix with the sound on my iPad. We may be getting older but he still gets ideas. :D

    * Our renegade old Toby is getting worse. We are very blessed that the vet is DH's cousin. Such compassion. Waiting for test results on probably Tuesday.

    * Oh! Forgot! Half a frozen chocolate cake is out of the freezer and being eaten by my Hunk.

    * On the way home from church DH always stops for tacos to bring home for lunch. :j

Thinking of your dear husband as he climbs. He quite an incredible man mhags!!

waves to mhags reading her book and mrmhags up the bridge
    1) sunny morning, walked the dogs then breakfast with new gbf (will have to think up new name for him - mrp for mr pianist though actually he's quite fortissimo)
    2) walk to church. We were later than i'd hoped as mrp had his shower quite late. but a friend of his happened to drive by when we were about half way there. Good to catch up
    3) twin cities service so full church, and lots of home baking then lunch with church friends. We went to torinos which suited all our budgets,
    4) back to walk dogs again, mrp had another not-a-date so i got to meet the not-a-date. made the mistake of saying to mrp he looked young. he's 3 years younger than mrp who is quite keen on his own youthful looks. Oops ;-)
    5) peaceful evening with 3 dogs again curled up on the sofa listening to a prom reading a book. i could get used to this!

Thanks for all your pleasures, reminding me of what is important, so much.
Mhags, as you know, I've been following on FB and cheering from the sidelines.

Schools are back today, learners will hopefully engage more with learning.

I think I may have found a way forward for me. I came downstairs after a much needed shower and hairwash to find a flyer on the mat for a befriending service for isolated over 50s being offered by my former workplace.

As well as a short term listening ear it offers users ways of accessing services to help them longer term. This is what I need, I can't just hope that things will improve and battle on my own with no concrete plans for managing my disability and lifestyle.

This is part of what I wrote in my email to them - I rang too.

Having mentioned that I have friends, many of them have their own problems and issues to deal with, and I am reluctant to mention mine too much.

I have always seen myself as the person who helped others, the listening ear to others (I've done counselling courses to L3), the person who 'never complains'.

Nobody wants to hear that you may not be coping quite as well as they think. The answer to 'How are you?' must always be 'Oh, fine!'.

I would love to have an extra ear - the Befriending Service sounds what I need at the moment
. Not to complain to, but to help me to work out how I can access services that I need and to fit them in to my life, to work out a plan for going forward.

I hope they can do it.
