Big decision will probably come tomorrow. We are waiting for the vet/cousin to call but Toby is so much worse I fear we will have to put him down in the next few days. Our hearts are breaking at the thought of not having our old man with us any longer. PK I'm thinking of your boy and understand the worry.
* Sometimes simple meals are a joy.
* A long relationship with a bright happy loving dog.
* Not having to water because of recent rains.
* Enough money to pay our bills with some left over to save.
* A new Netflix series to keep my mind occupied at night...Happy Valley.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Oh my Mila, Happy Valley - are you in for a treat!!! So sorry about your dog.
And PK, sorry for your worries.
Pleasures for yesterday - this is the start of five days travelling up and down the country. Today and tomorrow at dad's, it can be trying....
1. Sent my work off so gave myself the day off, started with catching up on telly. Watched Cold Feet and Victoria
2. Had a bath (watching one episode of Victoria)
3. Baked banana bread, made marmalade, made chocolate crispy cakes (watching the remaining two episodes of Victoria)
4. Shopping with my girl - she drove and did well. She passed the test a while ago but lacks confidence. She is getting much better now.
5. Salmon and left over veg from a meal a few weeks ago (it was frozen). it was surprisingly nice.
Have a great day all - gonna be nice in the south, I think. I am painitng dad's shed door (I know how to live)I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Sorry to hear that PK and Mila have poorly fur babies, they are real family members aren't they X
Just one big pleasure for me right now and that is our NHS.
From the paramedics that turned up within seven minutes of the 999 call and were so kind & reassuring to a very scared elderly lady.
The A&E team who looked after her, managed her pain and nausea, made sure she was comfortable.
The extremely kind consultant who took so long to patiently explain the limited choice we had and then stayed right through to 10pm in the evening to perform the procedure himself. He was back at his desk at 7am to answer all our questions. The lovely nurses in Recovery who looked after my darling Mum as if she was their own, which included holding her hand through what must have been a very long and scary night.
So many faces, so many names but they all went about their jobs with smiles on their faces and took the time to reassure worried people. We should be so blessed to have such a facility at our disposal whenever it's needed, it's something we should never take for granted.0 -
LaineyT I'm so glad your mum is in such good, airing hands.
Our NHS is a indeed a true blessing. I too have nothing but praise for everyone who I've come into contact with over the past two years. Truly we are blessed to have such kindness and compassion shown to us, often in the very hardest and most difficult circumstances.0 -
Skintyetagain Nope, NOT MrC :rotfl::rotfl:- the ginger ninja is the bold, bad Border Terrier who shares my life

For yesterday
1) my sorting of kitchen cupboards is starting to notice. found some loose tea so now using that up
2) autumn colours
3) sound of admin laughing. they've had it tough, so good to hear a bit of merriment (hope it wasn't maniacal!)
4) finishing at 6. had vestry at 7:30 and would before have taken supper in, stayed at work and bussed down at 7. now i am solely responsible for the boys i have to leave at 6, so instead got home, put ready-to-go dinner in microwave, walked dogs, ate supper then walked down to vestry. good for my steps too
5) nice drink with vestry secretary and his fiancee after vestry. treated myself to a bus home (£2) and a couple more chapters of the shipping forecast. Enjoying so far.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good evening. It's been a sunshiny day here which has been nice.
Woke up early , so called friend from home .
Ordered flowers for MILs birthday. 10% discount code and loyalty points saved me a nice £3.50.
Change of plans for this morning, community nurse was supposed to come out tomorrow but said she would come out today instead. So we had to wait in for her instead of heading out and about. Then we had hospital this afternoon. Much waiting around and no cookies! Finally seen and odd conversation with nutritionist ...she introduced herself...we've met her 3 times already but didn't recognise OH with his new hair do ...(now shiny bald ) and then kept on going on about what a great cut it was , what clipper size did they use....er it fell out after chemo ( we are at a clinic in a Cancer hospital) , really? Yes really! We are still not sure why she was surprised!
Prior to that a nice chat with an older lady who had been waiting ages for her appointment and OH and I had a laugh at his ticket number for his clinic!
Anyway, after that we went up to the cafe and sat out on the rooftop garden , most pleasant 7 floors up.
Traffic home, all things considered , wasn't too bad. Lots of green traffic lights.
DD2 has a new job! Yay! She has her induction session next week.
Lainey my thoughts are with your mum and your family. Take care and whilst looking after her remember to look after yourself x
Mila & PK hugs to you both too.
Have a fabulously fabulous day0 -
Looks like a recharge is on the cards.
:heartpuls to the vet visit and others.
5 Raffkes had a comeuppance today. BoP moved the wheelie bin to the avenue, and he came skidding to a stop on the shed. He uses the bin and table to get on the shed. He nearly flew off into the gravel. He is licking paws.
4 Percent is the battery level. eyePatch will need charging up shortly.
3 Just put the T20 on and looking forward to leather on willow. Should be a good leathering. To younger readers, this is the same as a trouser job. You shoved the comic down there! Just in case.

FRITH we are visiting the Rhine Hessen/Rhine Pfalz region about 40k from Frankfurt and haven't been back there since our 3 year stay in the early 1990s. Sleepy little village in the middle of the grape growing area and even the local shop sold wine in single grape varieties for pennies. We're hoping to stock up with Sekt on the way back home for everyone in the family for Christmas, better than champagne and around 6 euros per bottle. He Who Knows is looking forward to some Feiderwasser which is the partially fermented juice that they sell from all the little wineries at this time of year which he'll glug with Zwetchen Kuchen (Plum Tart) which is usually available from producers wives at the same places.
1) Watering the garden this evening and getting slightly wet feet as the hose sprang a pinhole leak but it was so hot that was very pleasant.
2) Clearing petunias that were going over out from the front window box and realising that last years cyclamen had been doing their own thing under the petunias and have made sizeable clumps of leaves, with flower buds!!!
3) The smell from the herb patch as I watered that, particularly the rosemary.
4) He Who Knows is taking me to the Book Barn that we found earlier in the year en route to our hotel at the airport, we have a relatively early start tomorrow so thought a hotel would be more sensible than a 2 and a half hour drive from home.
5) My friend Sue who has Charlie retriever is back from her summer in Cornwall and the arrival of a brand new baby Grandson, she called in on her way to the shop and next week should see the resumption of our doggie walks which will make Cookie very happy as she loves Charlie very much indeed!0 -
Hugs LaineyT, I'm so in agreement that the NHS is wonderful beyond belief! Hope she's tip-top again soon x
Hugs for poorlie furbabies PK and Mila xx
1. Sunshine!
2. Such a fabulous day - I so love my new classI also taught the other KS2 class for the first time and had a really exciting, invigorating time with them as well , they were all so sparky and fun - and interested in learning. So refreshing, and a reminder of why I wanted to become a teacher
x
3. DD also had a great day - her first day of proper lessons after 2 days of getting to know the senior school and each other (lots of new girls). She had her first piece of homework and proudly sat at the dining table reading her history textbook!
4. I've made myself a cardboard moon and cut out some sparkly stars from a charity shop silver scarf to transform myself into the night sky for our topic dressing up day on FridayNeed to 'assemble' my outfit now...
5. Our class was visited by 7 gorgeous kittens this morning and I was so impressed with the good behaviour of the children and the soft cuteness of the kitties. What with that, and lots of guinea pig cuddling, I'm feeling rather mellow for this start of the year!
6. Looking forward to teaching lovely French all afternoon tomorrow *bliss* So relieved I don't have to teach PE at all this term!0 -
6) My daughter rang me on her way home from work deliriously happy because she'd just had a phone call from the hospital to say all the test results for the unhatched baby were totally normal and there are no other problems.....turns out we ARE having a baby in January after all.....HHHOOOOORRAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!0
