I am sorry to hear about your uncle, Ampersand but am glad to hear that his last morning was peaceful. Thinking of you.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep though was woken very abruptly indeed when my heart rate fell to 30BPM. That necessitated jumping out of bed, waving my arms and a cup of tea to bring it up a bit!

    2) Went to see the hens. All good but Barbara (after her tough week) is moulting all over the place.

    3) Went to Sainsburys for lunch and quiet shopping by myself.

    4) Went to local motor racing with parents and brother.

    5) Mum gave me a camembert (clearing the fridge as they are going to Cornwall tomorrow) so we baked it in the oven and shared it with some nice bread.

    6) Sons OK and we're all ready for school tomorrow.

    7) Watched the Island with bigger son.

    * Not only can the floor be seen in the storage closet but there are two shelves with nothing on them!
Very happily tired from all the sorting and cleaning progress. It's almost done. More tomorrow.

    * No cooking as I'm tired so DH will have a pizza pulled from the freezer and stuffed in the oven before he comes home from his football watching afternoon. Glad it's there to use.

    * I have 27x lb packages of thin spaghetti. (storage closet). I'm a proud prepper. :D

    * I need wine. Can I borrow some paint? ;). (Saw my first wadi in Israel and then Jordan 9 yrs ago. Looked just like an arroyo minus the cacti)

    * Lots of mint drying for my tea.

Firth, I'm worried about you. Hope you are calling the doctor tomorrow.

Thinking of you and yours A.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

  • Ampersand, dearest Uncle is now riding on the wind and soaring in the beauty of the heavens free from pain, fear and the restrictions of earthly being, his soul is free and he is young again, bless him! My love and support to you and the family while you grow to accept that he is now not with you any longer, time does make a difference and the raw hurt and sense of loss will lessen gradually until you'll be able to smile at the memories and not feel sad, take care, Lyn xxx.

& you know you are in my thoughts.

Well , it's still daylight , there was actually sunshine coming through the dining room window into the kitchen before, not seen that for a while. Must be a time of year / position of sun in sky type of thing. Was most nice as I was peeling potatoes.

    Today has been fairly relaxed.

OH and DS went to work. DD2 is on school holidays so she came with me to work town. I wanted to drop off clean tea towels. Yesterday we were going out and she took a bit of a huff and refused to come with us ...today she was a lovely daughter , full of laughter and light! Sigh!

We had some brunch for which she made a contribution.

Took dog a walk, he had to stop and sniff everything on the way. Popped into Physio to pay for DD2's Pilates and felt something on my leg...that would be a spider. Mini shriek and a hard stamp! Then we walked up to DD1's shop and met lady from florist who was ever so pleased to see Haggis or Angus as she called him. DD2 looking at me, mouthing Angus? Then when I came out of shop, she went in and another random lady stopped to say hello to him. ' what kind of dog is he?' ....er, a Labrador. ' Ohhhh! What's his name?' ...Haggis....'fattest? ' ...no Haggis, ' that's what I thought you said ...are they going to eat you?'
No, but he might eat you if you don't stop asking daft questions!

    Watched Poldark.

Very quick tidy up, hoover, dinner on - having cottage pie with RTC mince. I like the meat at DD1's work and if you time it just right, as I randomly did today, the meat gets RTC. Also got some steak for a steak pie for tomorrow.

OH came home a bit earlier feeling cold and tired. So he's tucked up in bed with some hot packs for a pre dinner snooze.

Have a lovely start to a new week. May it be a good one for us all.
  • So sad for you Ampersand, and so glad for you that your Uncle had a cherished and peaceful end. Sending you healing thoughts.
  • You come in simply, you go out simply. In-between, you live to the full.

5 What can I say about the pie of cottage yesterday and the door stop carrots. You knew it was coming and boy it was nice. We now have one in the freezer and enuff for the morrow. Tum was seriously rubbed.

4 Last eve, BoPsie, put on BTTF and BTTF2. Classics. Wobbleales were consumed as well. Classics. Probably will see BTTF3 shortly.

3 Just done the fruit salad for the week. BoP did not get a melon again this week as they are currently over priced. Chopped up fresh pineapple and oranges. Has added crunch for the benefit of those who need it.

2 Night BoPsie has downloaded the first of the new series of Red Dwarf X1. It will be watched I think. Have watched all since the cat evolved all those years ago.
