Emm. Making memories and teaching important skills to your granddaughters! A really sweet story of your time with them. How old are they? Looking forward to more stories.
* we are very grateful for the food DSD brought from her GF's funeral dinner. I'm freezing most of it and we'll be using it this next month.
* we went to a high school football game (American) last night in the next town over. Our teams were playing in front of ten thousand fans. We lost but it was fun and we are better than last year. A date night with dinner before the game. DH was a football coach here for 34 yrs so he still gets Friday night jitters. Another coach sat in front of us so they discussed/cussed throughout the game. :rotfl:
* we stopped at a >going out of business< sale before the game and got a 60% off hood vent for our stove. Just thrilled because it's a really good brand at a fantastic price. :j
* it has rained in the high desert enough that the grass has come up in the surrounding area. The ranchers are grateful. It's raining/hailing now. The hail is little so far.
* DSD shampooed my carpets while here. She's such a love!!!!! They look and smell so great.
* old man Toby dog jumped off the bed this morning and hurt his back but seems much better the evening. I told my DH we can't let him sleep with us anymore. We have made him a blanket nest on the floor by DH. Toby dog likes to burrow.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Back from my travels. Just a few of my pleasures from the last week
1) spa day with dd2. First time for both of us. Mother's Day pressie - unlimited use of facilities (we used the spa pools, relaxation room and sun loungers rather than gym lol), massage, facials and tea for 2
2) Munich on Tuesday for conference to deliver paper with Ozzie colleague who worked in Dundee for 4 years and who has now returned to ozland
3) fab conference. It was on assessment and met some big names I've referenced in the past
4) all 3 days were 9-5:30 with 2 hour lunch break so lots of time to network and enjoy the sun
5) xoh picked me up late Friday from airport. We landed 10:50 but had to wait 25 mins for bus to terminal! Felt for young Austrian couple who needed to get last bus to Glasgow at 11:30. Passport blissfully quick so they got it with minutes to spare :-)
6) birthday weekend. Whole family round at various times plus gbf and gbf's partner and new gbf who stayed the night with his jack Russell
7) dinner with church friends - regret to say too much wobbleade so didn't make it to church Sunday, and have now gone down with conference cold
8) dd2 gave me 1000 piece jigsaw which we did Sunday on my new jigsaw board
9) xoh didn't leave yesterday as planned as letting agent shut till tomorrow due to bank holiday
10) so xoh making me tea in bed :-) gonna seem strange tomorrow night. 33 years living together !MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Some pleasures for the weekend,
Up early on Saturday, walking the girls in the quiet of a misty morning. The walnut tree in the grounds is absolutely laden so hopefully will have some of the nuts for Autumn.
Breakfast was balsamic mushrooms on toast, one of my favourites.
Spent most of the afternoon with my equine pal, due to circumstances, visits lately have been rather rushed so lovely to take my time. Sir Billy had a full bath, I thinned out his mane and hibiscrub'd his itchy heels. His dark bay coat gets lighter dapples in the summer, he looks suitably well in his retirement.
Watched a silly, but funny film and enjoyed a glass of something cold.
And for Sunday,
A lie-in, my turn
Late breakfast of bacon butties and coffee whilst catching up on events in Ambridge.
Prepared the desserts for today's family get together at DB's, Captain S was lurking and got to lick the spoon.
More sleep, dozed off on the sofa in the afternoon and only woke up when the rain started hitting the window.
Typed and printed my letter of resignation ready for tomorrow :j0 -
Here's to new beginnings DD & Lainey
Rubbish weekend so far due to stomach upset but feeling better today
1. managed to empty a cupboard of over 30 VHS videos... seems a shame to chuck them but no-one seems to want them. Don't even seem to see them in charity shops round here any more. Old favourites replaced on DVD for pennies online, the rest no longer needed and taking up space... what to do with them ?
2. managed a short walk last night in the cool evening air after the showers stopped
3. crispy duck with pancakes for tea last night from aldi & not the takeaway ! saved a few pounds & simple to cook just bung in oven for 30 mins
4. DS on duty at local festival so he gets to go for free thank goodness for batch cooking, he can just warm something up when he gets in at 5am !
5. slept better last night and didn't wake in a cold sweat as have done last 2 nights
The sun is out, its forecast a dry day so washing is on....

HI all
Yet again, I can't remember when i was last hereApologies for any repeats
Pleasures for the last whenever.
1. sunny days and warmth
2. My sister got a B in her GCSE maths :T She needed a C in order to get on to the nursing degree she wants to do - she already had GCSE maths but couldn't find the proof so she had to do it again  (my sister's story is long and complicated and there are reasons she couldn't find the certificate - she was in an abusive relationship and virtually had to grab the baby and run at one point, no time to think about certificates) She thought it would be touch and go (to pass her maths), but obviously not as much as she feared
3. Honey ice cream from ice cream town
4. great walk with OH - another 6 miles of the Wales coastal path done. Only another 825 to go :rotfl:
5. DD was saying she was unwell yesterday (cos she is so dramatic, it is often hard to tell how genuine it is) but she still went to work.:T She's obnly got 3 more days to go
6. Friends have had a fantastic holiday in the USA. I knew best friend would, but her OH is a bit of a "don't see the point in going abroad" type and I was worried he wouldn't enjoy the road trip. But he did so I can see them doing more. On their way back now so I'm looking forward to a ladies wot lunch and a catch up.
7. DS is back at school tomorrow. Strange for it to be a pleasure but he spends too much time alone so i'm looking forward to a bit more structure for him. Year 13  How did that happen?
8. Phoned dad and he couldn't think of anything to moan about
9. Painted my shed door, looks much better.
10. Still ploughing on through the thesis. I am on the train back for a few hours so looking forward to getting my sample chapter sorted for hand in next week (ye gods - it's next week)
Have a fab day all...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1) Cooler temperature last night so I actually slept through until 7.15 instead of my normal 4 o clock time.
2) Nell and that Zebra had such fun this weekend, he didn't ask for mummy once and didn't have a single melt down or tears and this morning he asked his mum if he could stay with Lelly again please!
3) The plots seem to be slowing with the amount they are producing, still getting plenty every day but not the huge quantities that are daunting to contemplate.
4) Up to date with everything in the house and garden so the rest of the day is mine!
5) DD2 has said we can go to visit on Friday when we leave Nell and seems to be level again and not down in spirit, no news yet but she like me still has hope.0 -
Monday evening here. Just had a lovely food delivery, I'd a text last night asking if it was okay if friends dropped some bolognese off on way home from work. Of course it is....huge tub and they've even sent 2 bags of pasta.
Whilst out and about earlier I met our neighbours from further down the street, they have offered to do Haggis duty if the need arises. DD1 had told them our news a few weeks ago and they had offered help them. Our dog likes their dog ...which is a bonus! So that was very kind too.
Made DD2 pancakes for her breakfast ....as I'm such a nice mummy.
Took train to work town. I'd taken the skankiest teatowels home on Saturday , I've not been doing them past couple of months...boss's wife was supposed to be doing them . I'm supposed to get an extra allowance for working weekends. That's not been paid past few weeks. I am now fully up to date!
had a mooch round op shops, got a pair of cropped jeans for $1, a beautiful crocheted blanket for $3, a brand new with tags still on green jumper for $4. Then in salvos another green jumper, for $3 ( was half price) and a tray thingy for the garden ( box/ tray /crate type of thing) now on back porch with a jar of flowers and some candles sitting in it.
Read for a while, snoozed for a little while, read for another while.
Out in garden, cleared veg patches of weeds, removed a diseased lemon tree, blooming jaggy . Swept up back porch and put camelias in vases.
Lots of washing done and ironed.
Took a bag of stuff over to salvos.
Made chicken pie for dinner and another one for the freezer. Had it with lovely veggies and cheese sauce.
Made a sticky date pudding .
Have a lovely Monday .
Lainey go you! Hopefully something perfect comes along. I fantasise on a Saturday of ways to leave the job!
Dundeedoll wow! A new start about to start...be brave, you can so do this!0 -

5 If you are reading this in JockShire, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Weather is lovely here and me and BoPsie has been out for a picnic. Proper foods, not 7 day old over stale bread form emporiums. Nice buttered, not glycerine, sliced loaf, topped with ham, British, and cheese. Tucked into box. Roll of Snorker. Juice of concentrate orange in reusable bottle, old shaped bottle. Biscuit and pure cheese was also had. BoPsie got a bit of sun, which is good for the vitamin D. Be careful not to stay out too long as you could burn. TCP is good for burns, but use liberally at you own risk.
4 Picnic was new spot next to locos. As the locos cannot get to the parkway this weekend, there were a few extras on the line. And the welsh ones as well. More later.
3 Just done the salad for this evenings meal. It will be served on the plaza. Hot onions, sliced as they are in the salad, with chopped toms, lettuce and cucumber. Proper pork pie will also be served, with fresh juice of concentrate orange and eau de faucet.
2 Just gone, well a little earlier on the bears. Investment this weekend is precarious, but if it comes of, BoPsie will have some housekeeping for next week. If not, she will be Scrabbling again. Note, BoPsie is only one win away from the chance of two on the bounce.
:heartpuls to all the needy. Be careful out there.
Just because I said so, does not mean that you can go round tearing about and cursing0
