Hello from Saturday evening. Just in from a late lunch / early dinner with OH. I had a very nice chicken involtini, he had lamb shanks.

DD2 just in from bakers shop with a pile of goodies and bread.

DD1 sent me photos...she'd been paint balling and is covered in bruises, she has a wedding to attend tomorrow !

Work has been worked. We were short staffed, we were busy, it's over for another week. Blah!

Bit of a panic this morning, driving to work at 6am and a road closure meant a detour...however no detour signs but I managed to find my way to work. Been places I've never been to before :)

Got my ring last night and hoorah it fits!

So many signs of spring in the gardens, lovely blossom on trees, daffodils, snowdrops, freesia and lavender starting to flower.

    Have a lovely weekend :)

A very productive day with DD`s 4 girls, used up lots of scrap fabric to get the `feel` of sewing machine, then each has `designed`, cut and sewn their own unique pencil case with zip. Each was surprised and delighted with their end product, and very proud of themselves too! Then happily stuffed the cases with pencils, biros, rubbers etc. from my stash.

Next day I took them to browse and wonder at Abakhan, they were fascinated at the huge variety of fabrics and trimmings there, feeling the ends of rolls and goggled at the variety of colours, patterns, textures, and enjoyed their browse before heading for the fleece section and each choosing a piece of patterned fleece for their own fleece blankets. I think I`ve planted a seed there.... On the way home we stopped for a cheeseburger, then they were singing their little heads off in the car all the way back.

Yesterday I dug out the coolboxes from storage and was happy to find they were clean and serviceable, so emptied one freezer and defrosted it. (This is holiday prep too as I`m taking the boxes with us, hoping to bring goodies back from Suffolk next month)

While freezer was defrosting I sewed my cape, waterproof camouflage/cotton lining, for hols. I have a proper waterproof but it gets way too hot and humid inside, cape will be more comfy AND drier I think!

My Magic Greengrocer had spinach (NOT the baby leaf stuff!) yesterday - from someone`s garden surplus. Had some last night, and enough in water for 2 more meals. I cook the stems separately, inch long bits, simmered with butter, gorgeous.

Am working next 2 days, so no temptation to join bank holiday traffic, also it`ll be easier to park at work. Nice.

5 Duvet had fallen. BoP is up. Man groom morning. Just curled my tootsies and chopped my toe nails back. They're now inn the bath, ready to be flushed away down to the farm. As it is not BoP's birthday, a shower will soon refresh BoP for another day. Invigorating shower gel, men version, cheap on offer, will also be splashed around. No beard trim as it is not Sunday.

4 Mega Snorker fest being grilled. See notes from yesterday, best back, last Sunday tatties, pan fried mushrooms, grilled toms. Tinned toms. Poached egg, air burst this morning, so not the usual, on hot buttered marmite toast. Rubs Tum. Juice of concentrated lemons with fresh tap water and proper loose leaf tea was also drunk. BoPsie had rabbit food! Proper food, not that overpriced takeaway carp.

3 Have not found who raided my wallet last evening. Wobbleades were tested, very nice. Feasted on a steak, grilled Tom and room of mush. Rubs Tum. Caught later train home. BoPsie was no too steady on her pins. Raffles was not happy as his bowl was empty. Normally he catches his own!

2 Day is a BoP feet up day. I could run the circuit on the M5, but ...

You have not locked yourself out!

Edit No worries gals, just checked my pockets and there is some cash left over from yester eve. Not only that, but there is a piece of paper in the wallet with a picture of lizzie and the number 10 on it. Happy Days!
  • 1) The smell of the joint of brisket that has been simmering away in my slow cooker since very early today.

    2) Photos of that Zebra doing all sorts of things including one with a chocolate moustache from his babycino at Costa, so cute!

    3) Swallows on the telegraph lines, rows of them, looks like they're going back south earlier this year.

    4) Walking down one of the lanes there was a sudden crashing and undergrowth shaking from right next to me.....and out shot a young roe deer into a clearing under the trees where in the shade standing VERY still was another one. They weren't scared, just startled and stood and watched as Cooks and I walked steadily past, now that much pleasure you definitely cannot buy!!!

    5) Leaves falling from the trees, lots of leaves making drifts as though it was the beginning of autumn, it's a little early for that but we've been very dry and hot here for a long time and I think the trees think it's autumn.

    Pleasures for today (Saturday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) My school friend called round. She was surprisingly early, which got us all running around!

    3) 3 egg day from the hens and they are all well.

    4) Enjoyed watching Casualty's 30th anniversary episode.

    5) The house at the end of the village is having a wedding party. The fireworks started so smaller son and I ran down the road to watch (in the pitch dark) then, as we got round the corner, they stopped and the crowd applauded! So we walked back home. :-D

Going to bed in a minute as will be up early because bigger son is going canoeing.

Today has been a bit snoozy!

Up early after a not great night for OH.

Washings on / out , ironing done.

Read ...then mini snooze! Finished book I'd borrowed from hospital.
( have since been up to library and ordered sequel)

    Watched Casualty. Wow!

Had a nice chat with one of DD1's friends mums when I dropped her off to go to wedding. Complete with massive bruises.

Went to library , reserved book, borrowed another and sat and flicked through a magazine.

DD2 phoned 'where are you?' Having told her where I was going before I went out. She came up with dog to meet me.

So a day of not doing much , which I suppose is good to recharge my batteries.

It's stayed dry , been mild and I have a lovely red anemone growing in a tub at back door. My lemon tree is full of buds....oh may it grow lemons one day!

    Have a good day !
  • 5 You know who wears the apron in BoP pad. Just done proper food, haddock, non Icelandic, pan grilled in light flour. Chopped cut chips, oven baked. Instant peas of mush, not ramsden carp. Fresh instant parsley sauce was also made, using proper ingredients, not emulsifiers found in cost a packet variety. Raffles is desperate for some! Tum has been rubbed. All is well. Note to editors. If BoP cannot cook fish, it is time to ring the vet, and ask him to bring his twin barrel.

4 And as you know from last week, sticky chicken is so out of fashion these days. Last night was proper garlic mushrooms, with lime chilli prawns. Wobbleades were also consumed and a Ginger film was the entertainment. BoPsie was drooooooooling as Cary was in the feature as well. Once upon a Honeymoon. Very patriotic!

3 Just been out as well on picnic this day, with ham and cheese sandwiches. Not cost a packet version in emporium covered in glycerine coloured spread, and week old bread in a protected environment, but fresh sliced with proper butter. Fresh concentrate of lemons with eau de faucet was drunk. Very nice.

2 Nite will be another film night. Think BoPsie could let a Marylin slip the net. It is a BoP thing. Other films are available.

Time off. Time to unwind. If you're inn Scotland, tough!

Have you been in the red paint again? This post makes me suspicious. :D;):rotfl:
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

    Busy day today!

    1) Not a bad sleep. An early start.

    2) Bigger son canoed down the river Severn to Upton. He saw lots of swans and three kingfishers. :-)

    3) Smaller son and I went to Sainsburys (first shopping in 3 weeks!).

    4) Smaller son watched the Grand Prix while I filled in an application form for a possible new job... Only took 2 hours, sometimes they take twice that.

    5) 3 egg day for the hens.

    6) Tasty tea of chicken pie, carrots, corn on the cob then sticky toffee pudding.

    7) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    8) Brother back here so we could all watch the final of Robot Wars.

    9) In bed now.
