DigForVictory - I have great envy for your father having such access to Kensington Palace!

mila - I'm loving hearing about life in your part of the world. I get my taste of Canada from my cousin there and now I'm getting a taste of the US from you. Thank you!

Pleasures for the last couple of days:

    1) Pay day! Hurrah!

    2) Our stay in London at the weekend has earned cashback through my credit card, saving about one quarter of the cost!

    3) Donated a large bag of decent clothes to the charity shop.

    4) Posted items sold on eBay. Not making my fortune, but it's better than nothing!

    5) Meal out with a friend I've known since we were at primary school. Had a buy 1 get 1 free voucher on main meals for Pr*zzo, which was where we were heading anyway.

    6) Two cake club friends came round last night for the first night of GBBO. I made a Slimming World curry, one friend made samosas (not SW!) and the other made Key Lime Pie (again, not SW!!). Delicious and we were able to critique the programme together.

7 ) Salmon with loads of veggies for supper tonight. Definitely Slimming World friendly after last night's disaster. I'd put on half a pound this week, so I need a concerted effort to continue on the loss path.

    Take care everyone.

    Pleasures for today (Thursday)

    1) A lie in!

    2) Rain all day, which will be good for the allotment which was parched.

    3) Sons made omelettes for their breakfasts. We had soup for lunch then a roast dinner pie for tea (yesterday's roast dinner with a puff pastry top).

    4) Went to see the hens a couple of times. Picked more raspberries and blackberries for the freezer.

    5) Big photos came through the post - 2 for our frames here of us on holiday.

    6) Both sons now using Duolingo. Bigger son as he had to take French (has always loathed it but wants to pass). Smaller son has never done a foreign language at school and does a little dance of delight every time he translates a sentence!

    7) In bed with 1hwb and about to watch Holby.

And in sad news, Aunty Betty died today. She was not quite 90 so did not make it to the extreme old age her sister (my grandma) and her brother managed. It was a sudden decline in dementia in that, 2 months ago, my sister went to see her and she suddenly could not remember anyone - not even her late husband. All she kept saying was that she was cold. Since then she had forgotten how to talk, walk, then eat. She had no children and would occasionally have a go at a new craft and then master it with ease! Knitting, cake decorating etc.

Seems perfect that & follows on Frith's post with this GOOD NEWS.

    1-zillion.
Have just been speaking with and listening to beloved Uncle in enzed. Thankyou Jobi{sp?]for walking with call [& heard each step], transferring it to cordless, handing it to my Uncle, leaving the room.
Beloved Lally[okay, couldn't say 'Alan' as littlie at first, so 'Lal-Lal-Lal' was how it began, then 'Lally', which it still is :-))))) ]. I can truthfully say his speech became clearer and language more structured and complex as we continued and, as Aunt said straight away, his wicked turn of humour is still deliciously present. Family trait:-)
Even better, our exchanges on tomorrow's rugby held up well.
Related last week's pleasure in The Alma, same again demain and especial reason for ringing today....his quarter birthday!

I'm going to leave this post now, as a stand-alone... Oh blutty blutties, crying now.

    Beautiful days to you ALL.

  • 5 This post is all thanks to those who woggle the bits around the net of inter, and other things/ Been out and got some Tart Fuel in for BoPsie, she has finished off last weeks offering. Too much and she giggles too much, not enough and I get it inn the ...

4 While out I got another can of red paint for taking to town this night. Wobbleades will be purchased and it is the weekend of Blank Holiday. I will be reporting later live for my stand point next to the M5. If you are on your way to Cornwall. Forget it!

3 While I was ferreting for the Tart Fuel, happened on some decent reduced snorkers. Cheap! Shelf has been cleared, so if you are out to get them inn for the barbeque, forget it, yous will has to come round to BoP's Pad. See above, they are not available this evening! As it is the Blank Holls, if you wanted to set fire to some charcoal, and you don't do so this evening. Forget it. Rain is heading inn.

2 And as for that, BoP motor has this day been taxed and street legal. Please remember that BoP drives without conviction so move out of the way. Note, BoP will not be on the M5 the morrow. So there.

From seven inn the evening until further notice, BoP will be available inn the emporium of wobbleades
  • 1) Listening to that Zebra child who was supposed to be having a nap singing away happily in Aunty Lellys spare room when she rang me this afternoon.

    2) The news that his mum was fine and healthy and hopeful.

    3) A trip to the farm butchery today where I got a lovely brisket joint, some diced mutton, some faggots and sausage rolls made with their own sausagemeat, we'll eat well this week.

    4) Booking the first holiday we're taking together in 14 years (we couldn't leave Docky) as Nell, He Who Knows and myself are going to explore Iceland next summer, so exciting!

    5) Some of the books I bought from Fleabay have arrived and I have new things to read, that one really IS a pleasure and a half!

Good to read that you had managed to speak to beloved NZ Uncle & and that the sense of humour continues to hold sway.
But the world turns and so condolences to Frith re Auntie Betty x

    For Thursday
    # another day away from toxic work place, more on that later.

Hot and humid, windows wide open and so continual visits from butterflies, we are inundated with them this year, lovely to see.

went over the yard and gave equine pal a cooling hose down and then walked him down the lane to graze in hand, regrettably the owner has lost some of her enthusiasm since putting the yard up for sale and the paddocks have not been maintained so well. Am on the look out for an alternative.

    And for today,

A real peach of a day in the fens, bright blue, cloudless sky, still warm but with a cool breeze.

All chores done by 11am so a couple of hours reading in the garden, followed by lunch outside as well

Hurrah for our health service, doctor came out to see DM to help with pain management within an hour of call going in.

Letter of resignation has been printed out ready for delivery into Manager's hands on Tuesday, enough now.

Lainey - good to have a helpful doctor. And interesting news re resignation. Similar thoughts here but suits time/distance/childcare wise.

Well done, uncle :-) - Ampersand.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Took parents and brother to station so they could go to London to see mum's sister (has lived in US for 50 (!) years but stopping there whilst flying to China). The pleasure was not in the driving, with 2 literally back seat drivers, but the saying "Out, out, OUUUUUTTTT!" when we arrived with a minute to spare. Apparently breakfast cannot be a banana in the car, but must be taken as normal, even when I have been waiting in the drive for 15 minutes. :-/

    3) Smaller son also went to wave them off (not that there was time for a wave, parked sideways on with hazard warning lights going), so we had a quick breakfast in McDs then found a geocache.

    4) Saw the hens a couple of times. Bigger son was worried about Barbara yesterday but she was back to normal today.

    5) Bigger son went to a tool sale with his father.

    6) Let brother's dog out, took him for a walk and brushed him.

    7) Had a few games of football.

    8) Picked another jug of blackberries.

    9) Made a chow mein following instructions given by brother in law last week and sons said it was better than my normal one!

    10) Smaller son made cakes with butter icing.
  • Sorry to hear about Aunty Betty Frith, chow mein recipe please ?
