Keeping so many of you in my thoughts and prayers today. Hope this doesn't offend anyone? I know some people don't like hugs.
So many of my pleasures are repetetive I know, but pleasures nonetheless.
1. A clean, comfortable house to live in. Helped on a soup run organised by friends church yesterday, really made me appreciate how lucky I am.
2. The sight of the ginger ninja (aka ThatWretchedDog!!) snuggled up next to my friends standard poodle. So sweet - and then we realised he was burrowing under her to try to claim the squeaky toy:)
3. A huge bouquet of red gladioli, too early for the allotment show so I benefit instead. I like all the really gaudy flowers, subtle I am not.
4. Really enjoying Rumer Godden, but have abandoned Graham Green. Not the right time for Brighton Rock. So lucky to have so many of my parents books to add to ours - but may need to reinforce the floor if any more arrive :rotfl:
5. Family and friends; a real pleasure and a blessing.0 -
BoPsie is still only one win away from the chance of two on the bounce. She goes thirst.
VAST, and BoP has ooooo all over the place! Lays a golden egg, in GOOSE.
Music tonight is Coastal Tones by Orphan Boy.
BoPsie goes strong with VENT. BoP check his KIT. BoP trails by three on 20!
BoPsie although in a early lead finds the going dificult. She lays JoKER. BoP hits hard with LURE on jokeR.
BoPsie comes back with GIVE. BoP sack full of ddddd plays on the NOD, gooseD.
BoPsie Kay's WAIL, We. BoP finds his moves have a DInT. BoP tails by 21 on 65.
BoPsie drops in with ToN, iN. lureD, ventED by BoP.
BoPsie has mothers RUin. BoP a real CUlT. BoP tails by 3 on 93. Form is temporary. Class is permanent.
But BoPsie is removed from the bored as razer is only in the word list according to BoPsie, and not the Chambers version. A sudden FOGS, wailS comes down. BoP now leads by 33.
BoPsie finally lays HEAr. hE, eX, hO by BoP. weAR by BoPsie. BoP goes BOILED hoD.
BoPsie turns out SCAR, wearS. Raffles has arrived. Pitch invasion! GAOl by BoP. Raffles has settled to the left of the bored!
BoPsie still has the Z. Will it come out soon?
FUSE scarS by BoPsie. Low battery on pad of eye!
bOAR by BoP. BoP leads by 34 on 204.
BoPsie WINg it! BoP plays cHAP. Finally BoPsie plays her z. ZIp. MaM, Mi by BoP.
BoP picks up the q. BoPsie plays sheepishly on EwE. eRA. All tiles are out. BoPsie spots zIT. BoP plays PEa. BoPsie Yo. QuIp. Yo again by BoPsie.
Scores are level. BoP has two tiles left. BoPsie has three. BoP has n and l. Raffles is asleep, so no pitch invasion yet!
miN, iN. One tile left by BoP leads now by 7.
BoPsie has to play to win! BoPsie tries another word not in the Chambers lots, NIB, aN rI. It is removed. BoP plays aL. Waits for ..
BoP wins by 273 to 254.
BoPsie remains only one win away from the chance of two on the bounce!0 -
Keeping up with everyone's news. But it's hard to type on the tablet.
We are moving from the Welsh lands to a Steam fair for the week tomorrow so packing travelling and Un packing again in a far busier place.0 -
5 Fantastic game of Scrabble Live last evening, with proper biscuits not that cookie carp and proper cocoa not the foam drinks. BoPsie got so close it was nearly believable. But you just cannot beat class! No seven letter words were used and BoP was accused of chewing wasps! Please be aware that dunking biscuits in cocoa can cause them to fall apart.
4 Just went to text BoPsie at the mill, and heard the phone ping in the background. Guess she left her phone at home again. Still she will has to wait until she gets home to read her missives!
3 Amazed that Raffles has been all over his feasting food yesterday. He had spare mackerel, and was licking his chops. Fresh parsley sauce, not the foam kettle version was smothered over hot buttered minted tatties. Last weeks chocolate
2 Just checked on the treaders for this evening. Not a long one but around the block a couple of times. Right pumped up now with the tyres.

Capella, which Rumer Godden are you reading? (China Court, This House of Brede, and Kingfishers catch Fire are my favourites. Sorry if you already told us, I dip in and out...)
Today`s pleasures -
1) Got up feeling bouncy and ready to start (6am) after an early night and good kip.
2) Not a bad eaqrly shift, AND only 30 minutes late finishing, despite ward being short-staffed this am.
3) Off now till Sunday ( I LOVE being part-time,this semi-retirement is best of both worlds!)
4) Liver and `ponch meip` for supper - that`s mashed potato and swede outside of Wales - and for those who peel and chop the swede a reminder that it`s so much easier and safer to microwave it in its skin then scoop out when cooked.
5) Just sorted out several zips and a good wide choice of remnants from my stash, my 2 younger DGDs and 2 lovely girls now part of DD`s new extended family want to learn to use sewing machine, so we`re going to have a girlie sewing session tomorrow making pencil cases! ( I made them some floor cushions and they didn`t believe me when I said it was the same method for making a pencil case, just smaller, and that anyone could do it....)0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
My thoughts continue to be with those going through difficult times.
Simple pleasures for the past few days:
1) Spending time with DH. Having a laugh at little things that no one else would find amusing.
2) Visited Kensington Palace (the part which is no longer lived in - we didn't pop round for a cuppa with Kate and Wills) with our National Art Pass, so got in for free.
3) Met up with my very good friend for lunch. She's the one who lives in Dubai and had to get her passport renewed in Peterborough. We visited Peterborough Cathedral - well worth visiting, if you're ever in the area, as it's the final resting place of Katharine of Aragon.
4) Paid my credit card bill. Not a pleasure but I pay it off IN FULL :money: at the end of each month. (I always think of Martin when I write IN FULL :rotfl: )
5) Finished one book and started another. Time for a celebration, I think!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Good morning from Tuesday , up early so I can head back into city for another full day of hospital. Chemo number 2 today.
I shall try and rustle up some Monday pleasures :
1. Friend kindly picked us up and gave us a lift to hospital , which is so, so kind to her.
2. I'd had a brief chat with friend from home on phone before we went out.
3. I returned a book and borrowed another at hospital.
4.my lunch was very nice ( the fact that the only seat was next to two employees having a very heated discussion , with each of them believing themselves to be right ...wheesht!)
5. The kindness of most people.
6. Friend kindly picked me back up at 7pm, listened to my extensive tale of woe about my day ( it was woeful)
7. Hugs from my son, tail wags from my dog, left over chips to reheat in m'wave from my youngest and the one in the middle rubbed arnica joint and muscle cream into my back!
There, I scraped together 7 !
Right, need to get a wriggle on and start another day. Train and tram into city and a hot date at the chemo unit!0 -
Hope you're OK, Bagpuss, and your daughter has fun.
I'm confused as always as to which time/day you are at, MHags, but hope Tuesday and hospital went well!
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens still enjoying their new pen and forays into the allotment and we had 3 eggs.
3) Popped out to get brother in law's birthday presents. We got him some playing cards from the Victorinox factory in Switzerland (apparently they are different from English playing cards) and today got him some socks and a book of local walks.
4) Sons went to role playing evening with brother and brother in law.
5) I finished painting the gloss bits of bathroom (and the flaking bits on the ceiling) - hoorah! Took 3 coats of gloss. I can't recommend B and Q watery quick drying gloss, I'm afraid. Also swapped pull cord on the light for a clean one. Had to go to a little hardware shop to buy 2m of cord.
6) Also picked another jug of blackberries while sons were out. Got loads in the freezer now.
7) Have been planning a last trip out to Moseley Folk Festival. Such a palaver to organise and I've no idea if they've any tickets left! Bigger son won't go (?) but smaller son is very excited. We've never been to a festival before. IF there are tickets for the Friday night, Billy Bragg and the Levellers are playing. Annoyingly, term for me starts on the Friday (training day thing) so we would have to leave here about 4pm.
ETA 8) Forgot the conversation between me and sons in the car as we got close to the shops this morning... :-D
Me - I wish Laura Ashley were still here.
Bigger son - WHAT? WHAAAAAT?
Me - Laura Ashley!
Bigger son - I can't believe it, I just... (spluttering noises from the back seat of the car).
Smaller son - I don't think she can actually have an affair, she's not married.
Me - WHAT?!
Bigger son - Even so!
Me - what are you on about? I did take advantage of their closing down sale.
Bigger son nearly explodes. Why have they got a SHOP?!
Me - ?
Bigger son - that website for affairs? Why have they got a shop?
Me - er, do you mean Ashley Madison....?
Bigger son - er... yes...
Me - my curtains were not reduced from Ashley Madison.
:-D0 -
I'm only 9 hours ahead frith0
