The silvery Tay is indeed the river. My house is on a road perpendicular to the river and on a steep hill so I get a fab view. The silvery Tay is also a very good fish and chip shop :P but it was indeed the river I was alluding to. It is immortalised in the words of mcgonagall, the very best worst poet in the world. Enjoy :-)

Longday shift on ward, not as hectic as usual, but very satisfying and a day to count blessings. Lots of recent changes and morale has got a bit iffy at times, BUT today:-
1) Newly qualifying colleague-to-be, had deep speech with her today, and I am so glad she`s joining us permanently.
2) New-ish junior doctors, they are so nice, really caring and so good with patients, these 2 are stressed and put upon like the last lot but you`d never guess it the way they cope.
(both the above points make me feel that if they were looking after me as a patient I`d be lucky, and that is the highest, and simplest assessment criteria.)
3) Happy outcomes for a couple of patients, that didn`t look likely a couple of weeks ago.
4) The welcome home from my darling little (yappy mare!) dog - I have discovered recently that if I whisper to her she stops yapping and does a sort of whispery whimper noise instead, and proved it to OH this evening. Who said old dogs don`t learn new tricks!5
4) Supper - a leftovers omelette, unplanned and quick last minute idea, went down a storm with OH, compliments all round, etc. Henderson`s Relish is my new secret weapon, btw!
6) Lie-in tomorrow, day off and a rainy forecast, so I`ll have a sewing day - 4 girly bedroom floor cushions for DD`s new extended family.
7) Feeling really grateful that nearly all the stuff on my `to-do` lists, whether at work or at home is not so much about me but the folks I care about, and it`s good to HAVE folks to care about. (I`ll come back and read this next time I feel like growling that I`m up to my eyes, etc!)0 -
* Galavanting around the Internet. Stops at Broughty Castle on the Tay and Lincoln's Cathedral. I love videos!!!
* Someone else made dinner! Yummy for my tummy! Leftover cake. Mmmm
* Clean comforters on my bed!!!
* A husband who loves me. He shows his love>>>> not much for words. It's all the little things.
* A clean house. Well mostly clean...not my mother's clean but good enough.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Milasavesmoney - this is our "local"... and my favourite room in any building I've yet been in!

I don't know who Cherie is who wrote the blog but her photos are pretty good. If you get close to the windows you can see dogs, a swan with a crown round its neck - all sorts!
Also been looking at the new Tom Denny glass today:

Pleasures for today:
1) A lie in!
2) Woken by a phone call to say my friends had pulled up outside :-/ (To be fair, it was after 9am...) They walked across the village to find a geocache while I got up and dressed at top speed!
3) Went to Hereford. Nothing of note in the charity shops but enjoyed a quick lunch at my favourite caf! and had a good look round the cathedral.
4) Stopped at parents' on the way home.
5) Went to my sister's for tea.
6) Sat with the hens on the allotment. Just before 9, as though a switch had been flicked, they all walked into the pen, into their sleeping quarters and put themselves to bed!
7) Have been watching the Olympics for hours.0 -
Firth those pictures are just incredible! To see it in person must be amazing. Thank you so much.
Off to find out more about these two places.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Hi, had a busy few days so here's five from them:
1. Did my first car boot and really enjoyed it
2. Visited my Grandad who is an absolute legend! Love him so much!
3. Watching our house being finished bit by bit and knowing that every day we're closer to moving in
4. Used a spa voucher that was a leaving gift from my last job - massage, facial and manicure - feeling human again, but just a little tender haha
5. Seeing my other half after a few days away visiting my family0 -
1) A strong family when times are tough! there are some problems with the new baby to be and potentially others but not for certain, Thank God for strong and supportive relatives who stop the world from imploding with cold, accurate common sense just when you need it.
2) Friends made here on MSE who support, care, help, comfort and share experiences that make the lost feeling fade as they've had similar experiences and again stop the world from imploding with kindness and sensible advice.
3) Rain, lovely rain and wet windows to wake up to.
4)Cookie, who is so pleased to see us when we pick her up from the pub and now always tries for our front door when being walked by anyone else, with determination.
5) The resilience of the human spirit and the love of God.0 -
Was in Lincoln cathedral last year. Lovely building (and good exercise getting up to it lol). Also delighted to find my Historic Scotland card gave me entry to the medieval Bishops Palace gardens
mhags the ring sounds beautiful. Happy anniversary to you and mrmhags (and cuddles to haggis)
Went to the Dundee Schools' production of Barnum last night with gbf so my Barnum-related pleasures are:
1) the sight of the dancing, the acrobatics, the juggling
2) the sound of the music - the leads were fantastic
3) the taste of the icecream at the interval. rather pricey but not the sort of thing you can take your own!
4) the feel of the seats - Dundee rep is extremely well raked, fairly steep so always a good view, and the seats are soft and velvety
5) the smell of ... oh this one has defeated me, no smell of the circus. So instead i'll remember the smell of the roses on our walk back to the carMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Wishing strength to Mhags, Mrs LW and Lainey
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Results day - AS levels for DS. He is doing a single BTEC and got D* (highest mark, equivalent to A*) :T And a C and D in his AS. He should really have got BC but we aren't too despondent. The D was only a couple of marks off a C and one paper was a B but the second one let him down. The C mark was history which doesn't count as history now is all on the big exam at the end of two years. He was ok with them
2. We went out to celebrate to the local pub.
3. Triathlon - gold and silver. The sprint canoeing was exciting also. YOu know it's olympic year when you find yourself watching unusual sports on random weekday afternoons
4. The builders are doing a fabulous job on our ancient wall. he said he can feel the strength coming back into it.
5. Warm sunshine. (as it's piddling down right now, it is a pleasure indeed that we had it.)
Have a great day all. i am back to ice cream town later.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Good evening from cold Melbourne , we had a mild start to day and then temperatures plummeted. It lashed and lashed with rain and lashed some more until around 4pm. DD2 sent me a text mid morning :could I just bring her rain jacket to school as her spray tan was streaking ...er, no! But I did pick her up from school!
A tearless day.
A late morning snooze...bit early but I've really not been sleeping well this week.
A trip into next town to get a cheap set of hair clippers to remove what was left of the straggles of OH's hair.
Also bought potatoes and a cauliflower.
My usual Friday flowers and a blether in the florist.
Cottage pie for tea.
I've came to bed early, not terribly tired but I'm up at 5am for work so thought I should try and get some sleep!
Mrs LW hope all is well with your daughter . Hugs for you all.
Lainey hope your mum has recovered from her faint.
Have a lovely Friday0
