5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1) Finding last night after a very trying wait that DD2 had got the dates wrong for her 20 week scan it's on Thursday and that she wasn't answering her phone because they were out having a meal with friends and not because something had gone devastatingly wrong with Pingu!
2) Builder is coming today (at last) to finish the work everywhere and then we're free. Have been on 'hold' for weeks waiting to hear if he's coming each day so freedom will be lovely and we'll be able to get out and about.
3) I picked runner beans last night and needed to keep busy so processed them and put 2 and a half kilos into the freezer.....which I don't have to do today Hoorah! He Who Knows says our octogenarian pal will take some more beans today, better and better!
4) Trip to the city for me today, Ikea, John Lewis and Waterstones on the list and the wholefood shop and who knows where else?
5) I bought a peeler/corer/slicer for apples which I find one of the most useful gadgets I've ever had. I now have and will continue to add to lots of really tasty dehydrated apple slices to use this coming winter. It's brilliant!0 -
Mhags! Argh - it's such a thing to loose hair. Hurrah for Haggis - as you have a Hoover that can cope!
Found this online store - http://hathouse.com.au/ which may trigger ideas, but once he can stand anything on his head, then try everything & anything within reason. Oddly, I've been researching hijabs ready for a scout trip to a mosque - those things can be *big* pieces of fabric - as in often sold as sarongs - so your daughters may have suggestions, thing to try etc. They may also have the colour pencils & savvy to top up eyebrows.
Practice/demonstrate on son? You are such an amazing family - don't try to do too much on your own. Besides, as daughters knot son under scarves & hide/relocate/restyle his eyebrows & try applying false eyelashes to him? Have the camera ready so the laughter & tears & "you what?!" squalks can be remembered properly. Elbow length white gloves for the "after" shot optional... Or possibly essential - depends on what makes you laugh hardest.
Mrs LW, son has a terrifying device that cores & peels apples as you crank. I have a dehydrator & ongoing requirements for pectin - I predict research... Colleague swears by a faint dusting of cinnamon?0 -

Mhagster mentioned Donald Trump's hair. Surely this is a parasitic alien life form which has glued itself to his head and now controls his thought processes. "It is the only logical explaination", as Mr. Spock would say:)
1. My lovely d- in-law came last night and treated me to a trip to the cinema to see Star Trek Beyond. Loved it. The final credits brought tears to my eyes though. Is this pleasure oldstyle? Probably not but hey ho!
2. We have a great internet connection againThis makes me very happy as I can Skype family who live far, far away. Think Long Island is the farthest distance but may be New England? Am geographically challenged so am not sure.
3. Am having a bad attack of Kipling. Not sure if this counts as a pleasure but he really understood human nature.
4. MrC is away at the Southport flower show this week and part of next so I am on a staycation and have control of the tv remote.
5. As always, your posts inspire me and are a pleasure to read.0 -
5 Off trots to pacemaker quack today. Jenny has be behaving so it could be good news later/ Jenny sends :heartpuls to the needy.
4 Turned off the radio of the Bolshevik Broadcasting Commissariat this morning. It got into self ingratiating mode about some already filmed series on using a stove disguised as usefulness. Carp. See above about proper foods and leave this to the dustbin. Avoid. Not watched BBC news since 21:33Z 1982-05-03 It was a Monday.
3 Bar Guns yesterday. Bar Guns! Strawbs, fresh and cherpy cherpy cheap cheap. Rubs tum as they were nice. Some left for later. Other fruits are available but not as nice!
2 Watched the Man City match on box of oggle last evening. Did they get into first gear. probably, so at three nil, BoP turned over to see if the mariners could win. PM2DD It is going to be a long season!

Hello everyone :hello:
Great to hear that Mr mhags is home, even if Donald Trump's hair has dropped by too.
Pleasures for the past few days:
1) Was my mother's birthday, so I met her in Lincoln for a treat - considering it is my birthplace and therefore the centre of the universe, it'll always be worth going there, plus it's only 20 miles for her. We saw "The Wave" of poppies, which had been on display at the Tower of London. Stunning and really quite moving. Bought her lunch.
2) Trip to the rugby with a friend.
3) Watching the Olympics. And watching a bit more. And then screaming at the tv and frightening the cat.
4) Picked up a pair of linen trousers in *excellent* condition from a charity shop. Sneaked a book onto the shelf too.
5) New tyres for my car. Not necessarily Old Style, but I got a good price by shopping around. Mechanics also tried to show me something which is wrong with the discs. As it's not my normal garage, and I haven't built up a trusting relationship (yet), I'm going to take it elsewhere for a service anyway.
6) Tried a new recipe of "Diet cold chicken" from Slimming World. Mmmm, nom, nom.
Right, the ironing pile seems to continue to grow so I'd better go and stare it in the face... and tackle it!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
1) smell of pine tree - reminded me of childhood camping holidays
2) feel of the sun
3) taste of a lovely crisp apple
4) sight of the silvery tay, glistening in the sunshine
5) sound of the cat purring next to meMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

DD - have you done the tim tam slam?
Glad MrHags is home
pleasures for the last few
1. the weather :T
2. BBQ at friends. One friend can be a bit of an @rse at times. This was one of those times. DS and i had a chuckle about it afterwards.
3. Olympics - also screaming at the tv. No cat though :rotfl:
4. walk to aberdovey for effandc. Only no-one thought to check the chippy was open. Therefore it was beer and nuts for tea sat at the harbour (The penhellig, Frith). Was a beautiful evening and we ate when we got back.
5. Another walk the following day with friend for "an amble round the quarries". Hmm, some amble. We were fighting through the bushes and over the marshy boggy ground and then, you guessed it, i went unintentionally bog snorkelling. Well up to my knees....:rotfl:
6. Good train journey home today and got loads of work done :T
7. Son left his phone on the field after his footy match today. Luckily it was still there when we went back to find it. :T
Absolutely cream crackered and it's AS results day tomorrow so I'm turning in...
night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Mhags, of course you should be grieving as things happen. It's the awful reality of beginning to let go. I cried a river watching my mother's two year illness. Our hearts are all with you!!!!!
DD what is a silver tay? Stumped by this and Google was no help. I'm thinking a bird or a river.
I did look up Lincoln since it is the center of the universe.:D
* A good cuddle with old Toby. He is suddenly almost completely deaf. Such a good boy.
* Using up things in the pantry that have been there a looooooog time. Today, it was by making a poke cake with a box mix and jello (jelly) Leftover whipped cream on top.
* DGD Quoye has started nursery school. She runs in the school because she loves it so much. The teachers send a daily e-mail describing the day, who did what and pictures! It is just a fabulous thing to read and view. The teacher/writer gives such a sense of what they are learning, what the day was like and tells cute stories about individual children. :happyhear
* 3rd season of Rosemary & Thyme on YouTube. Cute series. What should I watch next? I like detective/murder mysteries.
* Paid the plumber. He was very happy. $8100 plus change. Relieved to have that part finished!Overprepare, then go with the flow.
