5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

evening - DD is in the bath and so i have to wait till she gets out before i can go to bed. (teeth and stuff - I don't sleep in the bathroom
) so i will fill in time by citing pleasures.
Mhags - more hugs from welsh Wales.
Capella and whoever else mentioned it - i love, love, love Jane Austen. But i have never read Persuasion. I have no idea why, i have read the others several times. I saw the BBC film version with Ciaran hinds and then never bothered to read it. it is on my kindle, i will make a resolution.
Frith - you writing of the sausage stand in Freiburg made me smile. We went there many years ago and i had a phrasebook, the phrase that made me laugh was "can you direct me to the nearest sausage stand please"! :rotfl:
pleasures for yesterday
1. Train to Wales was a bit of a mare. Screaming kids were a trial. The pleasure is sharing sympathetic smiles with the very handsome (but too young for me even if i were single) man opposite. I can look....
2. Seeing my lovely DD after several weeks and half a world away
3. steak for tea
4. catch up with friends here, one has just won a place on a big major framework for his company, so am pleased for him
5. Went for a walk with DD and then to a pub I've never been to before.
And today
1. A non pleasure for yesterday was the state DD had got this house into. THerefore the pleasure today was cleaning and tidying. And it was a pleasure, this is my haven and i need it orderly not looking like student digs (an example - the portable rotary washing line was set up in the middle of the lounge :rotfl:)
2. Collected DD from work, she drove back to town and we went for Honey ice cream.. My first of the year
3. olympics - i rowed us to victory. you're welcome
4. Had my favourite 'zoats' mixture for brekkie - oats, grated courgette, blackberries and raisins, yogurt with a nut topping. i've missed it.
5. Washing dried on the line (now restored to outside...)
Night night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hugs MHags, praying for no more spiking temperatures and fab healthcare x
1. Sunshine
2. Received a wedding invitation from a lovely friend, that sadly, I can't go to, as it's in term-time (and I don't think the Head will allow it as CPD, despite being a Sikh wedding and I'll be teaching Sikhism in RE during the year...). However, so lovely to hear that my darling friend has met the man of her dreams, and it made me realise that she's yet another lovely person I've been remiss at keeping in touch with over the last year.
3. Had a very lazy morning, slept in til rather late, but it was so needed after our week of excitement!
4. Organised ESTA for the US, checked that we have awesome seats on the plane each way (2-seat row so no stranger beside us to annoy us!), DD checked that her new travel pillow and eyemask set looked gorgeousand we found our waterproof bumbag, so that we can both go for a swim without leaving valuables behind on the beach! I'm sure I'll look a delight....but would rather not get to know the local police force
5. Have downloaded some routes on my phone so that we can have satnav without being online. Don't understand how it works but I tested it by going on 'airline' mode and found all kinds of routes nice and easily. Phew!
6. Have just discovered that there's a small primate sanctuary in the town where we'll be staying, so have put that on our to visit listIt looks very much in need of donations and, whilst very different to our beloved local donkey sanctuary, looks like it has a lot in common, with passionate volunteers doing an amazing job on a shoestring.

Kittikins - do please *try* your Head - a real live Sikh wedding Just as you are teaching the faith must be a nudge from Fate. The compare & contrast ideas run to several half hours, then the foodstuffs (always popular, both in class & staff rooms)?
Hang onto that RSVP just a few more days while you consult?0 -
I'm not a huggy person, MHags (except with sons when allowed) so a hug from me would be very awkward. I don't know what to do with my arms so often end up patting people feebly, hoping they will move soon! Perhaps some brandy butter for the remaining mince pies and I hope MrMhags is home again quickly.
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Still liking Freiburg!
3) Sensible train journeys from Freiburg to Karlsruhe, K to Paris, Paris to London, L to Brum and... no, the one from Brum to nearly home was not sensible. I mean, IF someone had used that journey as an opportunity to show their sons how to text the British Transport Police to get some unpleasant and later racist football fans shown off the train, well, I couldn't possibly comment ;-)
4) Good to see my brother waiting for us at the station.
5) Nice to be home again. House smells appalling though some of that may stem from bigger son's plasticky shoes that he wore in the lake in Switzerland then kept wrapped up so they didn't dry...0 -

Pleasures have been few and far between since Friday when we received the worst kind of diagnosis possible for my darling Mum.
Did however want to send much love from the land of Fen to dear Mhags and her family, Rosie & Tilly are adamant that I also pass on licks and wagging tails to Haggis.
Love is the purest pleasure in the world and am lucky enough to be surrounded by lots of the stuff, Captain S,family, friends and my animals. Will be back when head is in better place.0 -
Oh Lainey, love back to you and to your mum x
Got on a very busy train into city this morning , listened to UK radio on my phone. Passed the journey , beautiful morning, enjoyed the view.
Spent most if the day with OH, he's being kept in another night.our lovely oncologist came in on his day off to see him. He is such a gentle man .our nurses have been lovely .
Just missed a tram but another one was just behind, then had just missed a train but they're every 20 minutes so just read my book.
Stopped in at pizza shop on way home , ordered dinner! Went back over 15 minutes later.
I'm out to work at very early o'clock tomorrow so I shall be in bed nice and early tonight.
Enjoy your Sunday0 -
Jenny sends the usual :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls to MHags!
5 Now I dont have to rant on and on and on and on and on about foam drinks, glycerine and things like that. Remember that Storks are there to deliver babies, not for cooking! Now here is some wholesome proper food being hand rubbed. It is a chocolate sponge dessert. Lumpy custard shall be added later. Spoons were licked. Please note that it inadvisable to lick spoons if you are pregnant. Obviously BoP is not worried about that!
4 Just raided the w8rs. Shopping done for £32 this week. Bit overbored as the cat treats were on offer, and we had run out of the sheets of paper in the outside room as well. Deary. We spent years doing number ones outside and eating inside. Now we eat outside and ...
3 Last evening BoPsie had her whine, BoP had a wobbleade too far! Yes noted Mila. That is what DUVETS are for! Sticky chicken was also wolfed down. Proper foods! We are really rattling through the dark treacle!
2 Day the feast of BoP is another snorker fest, with fresh garden peas, onions, carrots, new tatties, cauliflower and rich whole pan gravy. The pudding has already been mentioned. See above.
Now you reached this point, there is no turning back. Carry on to the next one, and you will be rewarded in the end.0 -
Mchags and Lainey sending scones and strawberry comfort food your way from the Welsh lands, I am another who is awkward with hugs...
A mix of pleasures.
We went on a walk to view the practice WW1 trenches which made us ponder on the history.:)
Then we visited a sandy beach that is the locals so only another couple there.
The auction saved us time and money as it was awful.:o
As I type there is a blanket of birds on the floor by the van bullfinches and a likes. .
We went to a massive boot fair this morning and picked up 2 chocolate themed mugs at 20p each and a dozen duck eggs from an honesty box.last of the big spenders here:rotfl:
We foraged again for blackberries yesterday and we both suffered a few swear words when collecting them but a lot gathered just about to freeze this lot and will be jam making when we get back home.:rotfl:
A loungey rest of Sunday is ahead.:o0
