5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Options
Comments
-
1) Fresh home grown raspberries and Greek yoghurt for breakfast.
2) This wonderful sunny and warm day, proper summer
3) Productive visit to a boot fair I got 4 x plain white deep rimmed plates, 3 x soup cups to match 2 I already had, a white plant pot holder, a set of emergency vehicle puzzles and a book of 'machines' for my Zebra. He Who Knows got a demijohn so I can make cider vinegar this year too.
4) A run out to Winchester for the farmers market, unfortunately way too expensive for my purse and sadly 'down' on content from how it used to be.
5) Lunch in the Cathedral Refectory where we had very nice jacket spuds and we sat out in the most beautiful and quiet walled garden under apple trees to eat it, utter bliss!
6) YS sirloin steaks for supper tonight.0 -
Taking a five min breather reading your pleasures and adding mine
1) thought of duck face mrmhags and pleased haggis pants is doing his duty
2) well we started the splitting of 33 years accumulated stuff. Kondo style we got all the china out, decided what we each wanted, and what remains of 29 years marriage wedding China (never saved for best so survived 3 children and friends) went to the charity shop, bit emotional, but it's a discontinued line so hopefully will bring others pleasure and the Red Cross much needed funds.
3) went to friends of botanics with mum, very nice couple hours, including hearing neighbour is grannie again
4) then off to beach with ds and xoh to walk the dogs and fish and chips
5) Bit more boxing xoh's stuff then last part of new blood

At this point, BoP would like to show off and here it is.
Some pudding has already been removed and added to instant lumpy custard!
Serious rubbing of tum has occurred!:beer:0 -
PK - If we meet we'll have a hearty handshake!
VJsmum - I haven't had a honey ice cream there for over a year
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) Hens are OK! Bigger son kept telling them (and me) that they are the best hens in the world.
4) Small cat is OK. She disappears when we are on holiday (in fact, she also goes sulky and won't come in the house when sons aren't here). Bigger cat is OK apart from a small hole in her side. It looks like a bite but doesn't seem to be slowing her down.
5) Went to see my parents and brother with Swiss chocolate and to show them some of the photos.
6) Got all the holiday washing done!
7) Had a campfire with brother and sons inc marshmallows. Saw one meteorite tonight but it had clouded over a bit.
8) Had a chat with dad while sons were watching the Olympics and he suddenly remembered having his appendix out in 1950 and how they told him off for being sick (he became seriously ill with pneumonia) and how they said he should be on the adult ward - he was 7!0 -
Had a very busy weekend but still have five joys to take from it:
1. OH has been off for three days - love having him home
2. Barely any cooking done - meals out and picky tea, as we call it
3. Started clearing out
4. OH finally got the chance to see the house that we are buying and...he loves it!
5. Nice evening walks with the dog0 -
Apologies. Shocking internet connection. Engineer out later.
VJ's mum and Dundee doll - have not seen the film, will try to get a copy but Persusion is my favourite Austen.
Lainey - that's so hard. Sending you my sympathy and keeping you in my thoughts.
1. Sunshine
2. Blue skies
3. Runner beans
4. Fresh air
5. Night sky on the moors.0 -
a beautiful sunny morning in Dundee. forgot to put washing on yesterday but 5 day forecast says tomorrow will also be good drying weather. For yesterday
1) lovely church service, with one friend back from big operation, others back from holiday (Scottish schools go back tomorrow)
2) lunch with friends at flametree. £6.50 for delicious Moroccan bean soup and a sarnie - drank tap water so that was total cost of lunch
3) then to debenhams to see if i could order the curtains that said 'low stock' online but when i tried to order one said 'our to stock'. As it's 2 pairs for the same room it's all or nothing. success (and 20% off) yay
3) xoh down in Edinburgh visiting dd2 so house to myself for afternoon. Did some major sorting in the front room, rearranging furniture, washing down skirting boards, moving other stuff, while listening to Gershwin prom on iplayer
4) when xoh returned she made a hole in the back of the cabinet we had the tv etc stacked on top of and took of the doors. now looks every bit the tv cabinet with amp and dvd player in cabinet, tv on top.so that's more pennies saved
5) we celebrated an excellent weekend with a bottle of prosecco (£5 from mr L) and the original Italian JobMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Seems & needs to apologise for Unworking Thanks button again.
Just don't understand how/what etc. All looks fine momentarily, but later Gorn, like some of &'s posts, which is even more infuriating. Anyway............,
bop's choc pudding pic does not fit on &'s screen, even with some portions removed. It's not easy working across 30 inches of pic.
And this:

''Low broadband speeds in some rural areas is a cause of huge frustration to many businesses, farmers and everyday users. But could it be contributing to health problems too? Research from 'Fix Britain's Internet', a campaign that's calling for improved broadband, set up by a coalition of telecoms companies, says that one in ten of us are experiencing stress and anxiety as a result of poor internet connections. Dr David Lewis is a neuropsychologist who's been looking into what kind of effect slow internet connections have on mental and physical health.''
1. DG for marvellous radio Olympics. Andy retaining Gold medal status and then, across the net, mutual recognition of 'those two imposters' between 2 young gentlemen of life's sporting arena. Delpo has been, with Rafa, on &'s LIST for some time. Another battler.
All those other amazing, AMAZING events/peeps/teams.
Today's essential - & needs Mark Cavendish on the podium, since Giles Scott secured today's Finn Gold yesterday! That DOES make sense http://www.yachtingworld.com/rio-olympics-2016/giles-scott-secures-finn-gold-at-rio-90619
2. Quick late look around Antiques Fair at town of horse Racecourse yesterday. Several acquaintances renewed. Can't feel right about ransacking own stock to send oldest NZ friend b'day present, however good/valuable/fitting. Found putti door-knocker, about her age :-), but nothing mistletoe-related. She's doing her PhD on our native ones. Doorknocker can go on her new front door, as and when, after horrendous divorce, dirty tricks, and multi-loss e'thg, about which & knows only too well.
3. Some frugal watering, some plant checking, much thinking all tied in together before and after 0930h service, with rooster crowing loudly at very telling point in Vicar's address. Found self motoring on to following one at 11h. Glad I did. More big thinks.
4. Hedgehog Mr Big visit last night again. Chatted slightly to him before moving indoors to let him snuffle through the egg and sultana mix uninterrupted.
5. Heard Pakistan draw the series, rightly so, just as I arrived in racecourse carpark. TMS - another touchstone of civilisation. & was not pleased to find Round Ball game given R5 precedence over Olympics this w-e. Apparently it's on again, for the next umpty months....:-(
