Took advantage of 2 courses for £7.49 which included ice cream for £1 and refillable pepsi max (sugar free to make up for the ice cream) as we were there for a few hours and we sat outside after the meal so it was good to keep topping up drinks for no extra cost.

No alarm clock this morning- no work! had a lazy morning.
Garden flowering and washing smells lovely on the line.
Cat has been stretching out sleeping in various cool spots around the house, occasionally coming to me for a scratch.
Just had a lovely peacefull cuppa in the garden.
Picked some peas from my tiny veg garden, rhubarb has gone mad, will be enough to freeze to last til Christmas.
First of the Christmas gifts for children arrived today- just stocking fillers but bargains at only a pound each.0 -

* money going out the door like through a sieve. Plumbing, new section of fence, complete redo/reclad/painting of rental property exterior (due to water damage) and today the renter called and said the air conditioner went out. 107 F today so no dithering around to find the best price. We had to find a technician who could come TODAY and install a new one.
The good thing>>>money for all was in savings. The bad thing>>> money is now no longer in savings. Must start again to build it back up.
* Leftovers eaten when I felt to ill to cook today! Hurray for leftovers!
* Tomatoes galore!
* My DH is a wonderful partner! Love that man!! He makes me very happy!!
* Good health. All Family.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Plumbing, you want to see mine!
Alarm clocks, so last year, surely there is an app for that!
Keep quiet, Mhags on Tour!
5 Just watching the cricket on the thing. Managed to be up some pennies on Cook getting some runs at last! Kershing. Not enough to leave the country, but enough to put Raffles on some proper foods instead of the deadstock bought inn over night!
4 Just got the best back and snorkers for the big fest of brekkies tomorrow. No sticky chicken this weekend, finger kebabs instead! More on the exciting finger kebabs later.
3 Wobbleades are in the refrigerator chilling along nicely.
2 Night will be watching the T20 as Glamorgan take on Somerset.
Now put it down, you've had enough there!0 -
Greetings from south Africa. It is day 2 of our holiday and we have been stranded by a puncture so we are in a cafe awaiting our replacement car.

5. Got plenty done in the home0 -
BoP - catsitting? Live Scrabble! Interview, ulp? Good to hear the buzzard properly treated & enjoyed. cat learning! Finger kebabs. OK, whose?
zaxdog - the eclectic lunch sounds great - we eat the occasional "Cupboard surprise" & I have to say Spam & peaches work remarkably well together.
Frith - never occurred to me to keep a corded phone for power cuts - thank you! congratulations on painting & hope leg better? River shoes sound brilliant. Despite notpleasures, you still made sports day & seq! Blasted Tooth! Love the happy GP!
Purple kitten - know what you mean about toothpaste - bought a tube from Lidl for scout camp, family loved it, bought another 15 & blink at Colgate prices now! Hurrah good affordable reeboks! Hurrah maxi-dress - well done - a good dress is a good friend.
Capella - Heaton Park can be glorious & two dogs playing are fun to watch. May your spiderplants thrive!
Smiley87 - the pastabake sounds delicious, although I can hear my chaps renaming it pretty quickly. Glorious drying weather! You run? Be calm, an epic shop at Costco saves both money & lugging for months. House viewings? Buying/selling/both?
debbiedodge1737 - welcome & congratulations on getting the summer baking started and tomatoes from seed! <Awe>
milasavesmoney - plumber? eep, they are not cheap to run! Hide the play pans but set a reminder in your diary to retrieve them? Dark chocolate is wonderful. DD2 coming to you? Splendid & possibly lured by replete groans from DH & DS?! So glad you had the savings to cope, hope you're feeling better & happy weekend with family!
Skint yet again - yes this heat is a bit much, ice cream van has "school rates"?! Borage a thing of beauty (some folk even add it to Pimms) and at least the heat means the dryer is off. Well done plundering Toby in style, even if loosing colleague.
Dundeedoll - the oorwillie trail looks amazing, & a splendid way to vet future lodger! Dress for all seasons indeed, & above all with umbrella! Ralph Fiennes Richard 3 - brilliant!
mhagster - a flying visit home - oh my dear - Safe travels! To overnight in Abu Dhabi is clearly Part of The Experience, but hurrah a Christmas care package has arrived. Manchester ever was twitchy, but soon in Scotland! Now safe & recharging?
ampersand - oThankHeaven - even a small gesture will be appreciated. Love famille d'accueil (had to look it up) & feel that specially made butter & fresh-laid goose eggs can only positively influence e(/)panouissement! Imagining your early morning hunt'n'gathers - splendid! Delighting in thinking of you restoring yourself on AbAng, with maman hare leverets & roe a-leaping
LaineyT - hurrah for meals outdoors, line drying, & icecream & huge hugs to you, mum & the Captain! Ah, niff of wet dog!
colley.louise - welcome! Well done meal planning, still better enjoying good times with two year old son!
kittikins - hurrah delighting in your girl & dead right too, hurrah children learning please & thankyou & fingers crossed your passport reappears before your plane.
kboss - decent gravy is the answer to so many of the troubles life hands us.
cella - oh good, someone else starting Christmas shopping! A brew in the garden has a special extra zing, I reckon.
VJSmum - Sounds like you're doing the thing in style & a discombobulated DS is a learning DS. Have a wonderful time!
OS Pleasures recently
I brought in a mug of stew for lunch. I must prevail upon Himself to help me make a habit of that - HM, MS, OS & delicious.
"Do you polish the rabbit?" - I really must try not to eavesdrop on single phrases. My imagination gets *much* more exercise than the rest of me.
"Two pounds Imperial cherries" - as texts go, my beloved husband can suddenly do no wrong... Well, until all I have is a pile of pips. Bet they taste better than the pound shop cherries, too. [Oh, yes!]
Blimey, the Radley store in Manchester *absolutely* get Customer Service - even though I've snaffled online sake bargains, I have elegant totes and bonus tissue to enhance the gift experience. Bless the lass - I will be back for more designer gifts! [You can even sell their paper shopping bags on eBay - this is a Strange World.]
"Close the door - common decency!" came the cry of child leaving bathroom. "*You* didn't!" came unanswerable riposte.
Sprawled on a bench in Colne, replete from slugburger (the international food festival looks & smells excellent I'm told, but hungry teens head like lemmings to the Familiar Van), sipping on a can of pop & listening to a brass band playing "I'm In The Mood For Love" etc. Splendid family Saturday!
Saw Cornish Pasties for sale, one broken & heard "mum, it's bleeding!". Baker kindly put half a dozen in for us - supper sorted. Not exactly MS but serious pleasure!
Youngest selected gingerbread men for Scouting brother - I thought wind up but seems lad really does love gingerbread folk!
It was not wise to chide the Scout for having a blunt knife. He took it to heart, put a serious edge on it & then, "testing", shaved his arm by accident. He now looks slightly piebald.
"How much quality time do you want to spend with Aunt G?" "I'd like some of the quality time I've spent with Aunt G back..." Another sib yet more vehemently graphic and wound down to "they're Batshit Crazy!" Ye gods, family.
"They're not stickers!" - blimey, a 17 year old can disappoint easily.
Blimey fraternal warfare drops to new levels of underhandedness - photos from the school trip to Blackpool (previously concealed in bedroom) revealed to parents at breakfast. He's clearly been having fun.
Contemplating a Heath Robinson conjunction of fishing rod & feather duster to get at awkward spiderwebs. I'm sure The Master could design something even more startling but this only needs a short length of duct tape.
Oh I do love the T shirt I've just seen worn "Better days are coming! They're called Saturday & Sunday." The lovely lady wearing it accepted my heartfelt applause with great charm. (My son endeavoured to shrink with embarrassment...)
Not at all sure why but the small cheeping birds are really going some this morning. I'm seeing them in dozens! Husband says they're using an abandoned propagator tray as a bird bath...
Sign at GP "Friendship isn't about who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you" and proved it."
Struggling somewhat to recall Why we were lugging a slate based snooker table up the stairs on the hottest day of the year to date but we did & I got over the wheezing after minutes. My back is taking longer.
Son observed eating noodles - "Ye gods it's like watching Cthulu in reverse" (Not just me thinking he's making a slurping mess of it then.)
"I held a snake today - it felt like sausages which haven't been cooked yet" - lad getting a wide exposure to learning at school!
O what a beautiful morning & blimey it's warm already. I'm "a bit bonkers" for carrying my raincoat but I need the pocket & anyway Churchill was an optimist who carried a raincoat. Also I reckon "a bit bonkers" is pretty charitable - I inhabit a spectrum of eccentricities!
Tailor's door open (it is that hot here!) so called my "Hullo!" through - got a lovely smile & wave back even through the warmth. Not a day to be handling fine shirting other than wearing it!
Saw a large sign for "Teflon Polos" & just thought "well *that's* a new flavour" - this heat!
Stomping night scouting - we got a bank strategically planted with shrubs of various sorts (& no injuries, but quite a lot of mud adhering, including to us leaders!)
Great big hugs to all who need them, safe travels & warm communications through whatever media present themselves & brace yourselves for the Summer Holidays.0 -
Today was my last day in my current work:(. It was renewed, then it wasn’t, then it was and well as of yesterday evening it all got nasty. :(It was a shock and I cried luckily only on the phone as I’ve as I was very messed around. Thankfully DH and I are not panicking just yet, thanks to mse ways. :money:
1. An abrupt check around for immediate savings and I only found my mobile as I had to up the contract for work, now I will phone and cancel and move it across to giffgaff for £7 per month.:money:
2. Updated my CV and thinking about putting back out hanging of a while as we are still going on a planned break.
3. BLT for brunch and cleaned and mopped the house.:p
4. DH spent the day fitting the new to us motor mover to the caravan, and spent most the day cussing the fact that to save money he is also fitting it himself. :j His talents saved us 200 though.
5. A beautiful large red butterfly decided to spend some time inside the house.:)
6. Dead headed the front garden, swept the driveway and put down weed killer where green shouldn’t be showing through concrete.:)
7. Just made a casserole the way it should be madewith a whole host of leftover stuff and veg before they went off. Packed with pearl barley and anything lying about. I hope it tastes better than it :)sounds later.:rotfl:
8. I get a certain contentment from the washing drying on the line. Is that a bit too MSE.:rotfl:
May have a tipple in a bit after an emotional day.0
