Skint - do you keep an old non-cordless one for power cuts? We've got an ancient phone stored under the stairs and it is a great help when you need to phone the power out helpline.
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Another 3-4 hours of painting and 2 hours of cleaning up, dusting and putting everything back. Looks very bright in there. Have managed to pull some weird leg muscles from excessive painting (hardly ever pull arm muscles, don't know why) so have a funny walk now.
3) Smaller son went to long awaited day at our local race track with my parents and brother: http://www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk/events/content.asp?s=21&ei=1455&nei=20078 Mum happened to be in the garden yesterday at the moment the Spitfire went past!
4) I went to Sainsburys for quiet lunch and shopping.
5) Spent an hour on the allotment, watching the hens.
6) Sons came home from racing/their father's and love the new hens they have there.0 -
1. A lazy start lucky enough had just enough bread for the Sunday morning grilled bacon sarnie.:D
2. I never normally shop on a Sunday but we dragged ourselves out as DH wanted Ikea, we got what he needed, for a whole £3 for 2 rather than £10 for one from a diy place. Popped to £1land for a fivers worth of stuff, I was caught out by running out of toothpaste as we got so much free on an offer once I can’t remember the last time we bought any. Even picked up a loaf bread from there.:o
3. More washing all dried on the line.:)
4. DH and I are gathering a list together for pre getaway planning. We have most bits already so just organisation really, and that we need we are buying very cheap, I just bought us each a pair reeboks vastly reduced in their sale £30 for the 2 of them with free returns. Ironically I used to have a set of reeboks my most comfortable trainer ever but they are apparently unfashionable now – cause I always worry about that of course.:rotfl: Also picked up some cheap towels they will be abused and we have pets that claw so what’s the point in getting expensive.:p
5. I’ am about to food plan from the freezer for the upcoming week.:)0 -
Sunday Pleasures
1. A trip to Heaton Park with a friend, our mad terrier and her madder spoodle. Watching the spoodle leaping over our daft dog, and our daft dog racing underneath her kept us entertained for a good hour. (We are easily entertained)
2. Sunshine in the park, such a treat after the weeks seemingly endless rain.
3. Our own allotment grown potatoes, broad and French beans, Home made stuffing, our own cabbage and apple sauce frozen last autumn for tea; smallest pork joint I've ever cooked but still plenty for MrCI added almonds and cashews to the stuffing and pretended it was a nut roast.
4. Picking good produce on the plot, and cooking it within two hours of plucking it. Can't get fresher than that!
5. Potted on seven tiny spider plants. I am on a one woman mission to revive the fortunes of the spider plant. If it's good enough for the Space Station every home should have one:)0 -
Sunday:
1. My boyfriend sorted the TV unit, hurrah!
2. Made cheesy BBQ meatball pasta bake -got some left for lunch too
3. Top washing weather so managed to get three loads washed and dried
4. Nice walk around a Sunday market
5. Visiting family0 -
Hi , I always read this thread but rarely post ..... but here goes
1. I managed to clear out cupboards and take a good inventory of the kitchen so have been meal planning for a while now ( never knew we had so much) so I see a cheap shopping if any shopping this week which is always good
2. I did pop out for Burger buns earlier as were having a BBQ later and found YS Melon , YS Cantaloupe , YS Baking Spuds and YS Peaches and Pears so even less to buy in the shopping
3. Still very hot but less muggy today , there is a slight breeze which is nice as yesterday was awful.
4. Using up bits in my kitchen cupboards I found chocolate chips , mine craft rice paper cake decorations , icing sugar and a smart price sponge mix ...... so at 6:30 am this morning (while it was still cool) with the kitchen window open I baked 14 little cupcakes for the kids .... youngest of which is finished nursery now for the summer and the others finish on Wednesday .... so its time to start baking and snack making(oh and I resisted as Im trying to shrink lol)
5. Eeeeekk !! I spotted my first Tomatoes (green at the moment) growing from the two giant tomato plants Seeds provided free from Heinzand I noticed 5 Jalepenos and a handful of Tombling tommy cherry tomatoes ..... BTW the tumbling tommys are more little bushes than tumbling
not sure why.
Have a Super Day all ... tomorrow is meant to be even hotter so we might go out somewhere that has air con for the day lol0 -
5 Yous see, BoPsie wanted thrashing last night, and BoP could not believe his luck. Not one, but three maximums in the scrabble! Really did get my teeth into it! In the first three goes to get Chaired, Buskers and Dentures! She was no to happy and really encouraged Raffles to invoke house rule 23. Fortunately Raffles is made of sterner things and just flopped on the table instead!
4 Just had the Wicken Chings from yesterday's roast buzzard. Crunchy. Ok please be careful when you reheat foods, you can't be too safe! Dipped inn chilli sauce. Fresh Spring waters from the tap was drunk, with chocolate biscuit. Second roast coming later.
3 Just getting new web ready, more later. Check it out soon!
2 This week getting ready for interview on Wednesday.
Slow down as you pass the tree, it has your life written in its roots.0 -
Quick pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) 2 lessons at work and hours of paperwork sorting!
3) Went to town after work to get our "river shoes". (I don't know what they're really called but they are the cheap, canvassy shoes with a drawstring fastening that people wear when surfing. We wear them in the river to stop our feet getting cut). These are for going on holiday - a fortnight today! Someone gave me their ticket for the car park.
4) Hens OK, if rather hot. We moved the pen onto fresh grass.
5) Smaller son went to Drayton Manor Park with his school.
6) Watched Eden with bigger son.
That's about it. In bed (24 degrees in the kitchen still) and might listen to ISIHAC.0 -
Great post DebbieD. Enjoyed reading.
* Plumber showed up so progress restarted! :T
* Little (sale) play cooking pans for DGD (age two) arrived and they are so cute I will be hard pressed to wait until Christmas to give them to her. But now that I'm an MSE member, I will of course. (she assures herself)
* DH took me out for breakfast. He had the works with coffee and I had hot tea with a wince of milk (omage to BoP)
* grocery shopping done for the week.
* lovely dark chocolate bars bought to nibble on here and there. :jOverprepare, then go with the flow.
