South Africa, snorkers, house viewing and rabbit polishing! What a world we live in!
La de da de da! Music please >>to drown out my singing.

PK that is a real punch in the gut about your contract work! Absolutely awful and made worse by the way they handled the whole thing! Much sympathy!!

    * Bulk cooking today for lots of meals to be put in the freezer. Smells good in my house.

    * More tomatoes this morning. And Jalepanos too! Salsa will be made .

    * We still have the grandhounds. DD2's GF had brain surgery yesterday. She's there with him, (my DH's exwife's side of the family) This is three weeks now and if it continues we may not give them back. :D Very sweet girls who have settled in beautifully.
    * Lost 1 Lb!!! Finally!! Whoohoo!!! :j

    * With all the plumbing mess I have misplaced the lid to the SC. Ingenuity saves the day! Taco soup is bubbling merrily under a oval Dutch oven lidded SCer.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Oh cripes PK, sending commiserations for such shoddy treatment, you deserve and will get better, hurrah for savings and canny MSE ways.
Mila, love the dog-knapping, they are addictive aren't they.

No work as Friday is my day off, apparently my new manager spent most of yesterday surfing the net so obviously quite happy to let me do all that needed to be done.

Had a lie-in until nearly 8am, any later and Rosie dog sits at the bottom of the stairs & whines.......continuously...

Boiled egg and marmite soldiers for breakfast.

    Some YS goodies in W8rose.

Captain S mowed the lawn and cut back the hedge so now don't get attacked coming through gate.

Busy at the yard, lots of catching up with horsey friends haven't seen for a few weeks.

Tasty salmon for tea and now enjoying night cap of creamy Irish liquor over ice.

PK - well, they sound nasty! Hope you are OK.

    Quick pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) Not at work! Smaller son not at school!!

    2) Good to drop bigger son off at school as he was awful yesterday. His report read As in all the subjects he likes. F in history as he couldn't be bothered to answer one of the questions in his end of year exam. G in French because "school make us take it". Our biggest ever row last night. Anyway, I felt like doing a handbrake turn and booting him out of the car at school then zooming off! Obviously I didn't, but he got the last laugh by getting out of the car then slamming his door so hard that the window glass fell off its runners and disappeared down inside the door.

    3) Let the hens out then played football with smaller son.

    4) Survived the dentist (again...) Wisdom tooth has been rebuilt for the second time. He did mutter about how much he hates wisdom teeth! Then he wanted to take the impression for my tooth guard (as I click and grind the tops off two teeth). He (dentist) ventured over with normal sized horseshoe thing - wouldn't fit in my mouth. 5 times with different sizes. Eventually there was rummaging in the cupboard and he came back with a child's one and said that was the smallest size they do! Even that had to be nearly crowbarred in and the impression has been made. Fitting in a week or so.

    5) Smaller son had a cooked breakfast in our usual post dentist caf!. I didn't dare eat on new tooth.

    6) Went to local NT place for croquet and cup of tea.

    7) Went to posh garden centre (rarely go) and the local school were having their leavers day service in the church so the bells were ringing. Bought a fennel for my garden (don't know why I've not got one) and a tarragon for my sister's birthday.

    8) Sons went to role playing night with my brother and brother in law.

    9) Watched First Dates.

    10) In bed now and about to listen to Dead Ringers.

PK - what utter barstewards your former employers were :( Onwards and upwards, sweetie x

My pleasures are a mixture of emotions today...

    1. Nice dinner last night with a few colleagues, but I felt really sad afterwards, so was glad of the 20 minutes drive home to collect my thoughts a bit.

    2. The rose that my favourite pupil presented to me at Mass today, it's so beautiful. My school has a flower giving tradition at the first Mass in EYFS (children give to teachers) and at the Year 6 Leaver's Mass, the school gives the children (and leaving staff) a flower.

It made me have to leave the area to go and sob....as it brought it home to me how utterly miserable I've been most of the year, how much my relationship with my beautiful DD (and indeed her own state of mind as I've over-shared) has been threatened by my stress, and how this is the end of an era.

It sounds like they should have been tears of joy, but they weren't :( I felt (and still do feel) depressed and deflated and struggled to get through the day, but I did (yay me!) and ....

    3. I left school nice and early and was able to surprise DD :)

    4. We had cuddles and giggles in the sun and she told me how much she loves me getting home early :) (nearly set me off again and reinforces my determination to be more organised and have a better work/life balance next year!)

    5. Home-made ice cream, courtesy of DD, scrumptious!

    6. Sunshine (although the back of my neck could have done with it being weaker during our outdoor Mass!)

    7. DD has been beaming from ear to ear since she found out who her new form tutor is going to be for Year 7 - the Director of Sports, who is also her favourite teacher :) I'm really pleased too, as she's a lovely no-nonsense lady, who I think will be good for DD as she starts to navigate her way though senior school life.

    8. DD and I re-visited her early childhood when we watched one of her favourite TV series on DVD this evening - Mist the sheepdog :)

    9. Enjoyed a nice chilled glass of rose this evening.

    10. Have done more sorting out of stuff for my new classroom tonight once DD was in bed. I want to be able to pop in for a couple of days, get the walls looking gorgeous and the first week planned and resourced. Then, I'll be able to switch off until September (ha! like that's really likely to happen...;) )

    Hi all!

Yesterday was really good - think we've found THE house :) It's not in delightful Doncaster Skint Yet Again, haha.

    1. House viewing went really well
    2. Run with the dog
    3. Finally started to shift some weight, hurrah!
    4. Lamb burgers for tea (one of the best Costco buys I've made)
    5. Bit of rain to cool everything down - the pooch was very grateful!

    1. Going to two graduation ceremonies over the past week. We saw DS1 receive his masters and DS2 receive his degree. I felt very proud of them both. Celebrated both with a glass of fizz.

    2. Spent time enjoying the sun in the garden. Been a pleasure having early morning coffee sitting and enjoying the view.

    3. Managed to find room for DS2 stuff we picked up from uni. Still washing some stuff -pleased it's sunny as washing pillows and duvets and its all drying quickly.

    4. Cooked chicken Korma for tea last night and didn't have to buy any ingredients. Had it with rice and sag aloo. Potatoes, spinach and onions all from the garden.

    5. On holiday next week. DH needs the break but is worried that he will lose work. He is self employed so we're leaving late on Monday so he can work first.

Smiley87 Good luck with the house, whereabouts are you going.

Thanks for the kind comments. The stress for the past few days caught up with me last night and one of our animals kept me company on the sofa till 5am while I read as DH was snoring rather loudly. :o managed to sleep from 5 through to 9.
    1. Our bedding is all clean on and the old bedding is hanging on the line to dry.
    2. Food planned for a few days, it was burger and chips tonight, and defrosted some of last years foraged fruits, and made a crumble topping voila.:p
    3. Feeling a lot better after a resting day here, travel wise by us it sounds like armageddon at the moment. I napped to get rid of a headache and it helped.
    4. The BFG is out, and DH and I are really looking forward to going to see it next week. DD absolutely loved it as a little one so a lot of memories.:)
    5. DH and I started cleaning and packing the van, waiting until the sun lowers to do anything else.:)

    Well done to VillageLife's sons!

Thank goodness that time is over for you, Kittikins.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A lie in!

    2) A 3 egg day for the hens. We had soft boiled eggs for breakfast, used 4 eggs to make some brownies and gave 6 to my sister. Still got 5 left...

    3) Washed sheets, did 2 loads of washing, odd bits of paperwork.

    4) Went to local museum with family as they were having a 1940s day.

    5) Sister's birthday tea at her house (I took brownies).

    6) Let hens out again and checked rat poison that has become necessary on the allotment :-/

    7) School friend phoned.
