Good to hear, pk. They just form a carpet under the raspberries here. I pretty much leave them for the birds and, regrettably, to the disgusting huge orange-y slugs which proliferate.
& has a killer screwdriver for that purpose. These slugs also graze on rat poison.

    I loathe slugs.

I thought soldiers referred to toast cut in rows to be dipped in runny soft boiled egg. These in the video appear to be sausages. Oh my I have much to learn?

    * I didn't drown in my antibiotic nasal wash.

    * watching The Tunnel.

    * learning to ignore catty remarks by other posters on MSE (win!! :D )

    * two naps today while I fight this sinus crud.

    * batch cooked food drug out of the freezer and heated for my gorgeous hunk while I'm sick sick sick! He wondered where dessert was...I currently don't like him!

    * more and more tomatoes.

Kittikins wishing you a fabulous time in Florida with good weather and lots of fun!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Good morning, I'm hoping I can copy and paste this later, living an Internet less life at times , leaves me feeling oddly unconnected with life!

So far, so jet lagged! Have been managing increasing amounts of sleep before waking up BING! Wide awake!

We had a very long stretched out journey to get here which ended up as 41 hours instead of 25 , so we missed out on a 'day ' here that could have been spent with people. ( I am thankful that we arrived safely, we met new , friendly Scottish people along the way ,all stuck in same situation , so we had a few , good blethers along the way.)

We've managed to catch up with family and friends. Still a few 'to do' but by tomorrow should have seen who we want to see ,
Have been fed and watered, hugged and hugged, loved and listened to. We have laughed like we have not laughed since we were last home , there is just something so special about shared history, shared friendship, shared experiences, with a splash of good old Scottish humour and banter that has made our hearts filled with joy and shrieks of laughter.

We've walked along by 'our ' river and 'our' castle , admired the greenness of everything, smelled the roses, the honeysuckle, the Buddlia , admired the hanging baskets, the voluptuous of everything being at full ,garden bloom.

We've been welcomed by dogs and rubbed plenty bellies, scratched lots of ears and whilst still missing our own dog boy ( who apparently has his sad face on ) have felt loved by other's dogs. Not forgetting the cats too....plenty ankle rubs too.

Have seen my great niece , who's about to start school in a few weeks ...wondering where that time has gone. She's lovely, such a joyful personally and had a lovely afternoon with her. We had a fashion show with all the things I'd bought in the couple of days before we left.

I've been to church and welcomed and fitted in as if I'd never been away. A friend of many years sat and held my hand when I had a bit of an emotional wobble. Balmed by familiar words .

Our friends generosity . They gave up their house and garden whilst they went out and we moved in and held a lovely garden party , it stayed dry...wasn't warm but wasn't cold! I'd asked the people we would normally strive to catch up with when we are here ,to come to us , ' bring a plate' ( as we say in Australia ...a donation of food or drink) and enjoyed an afternoon of friendship and love. Lots of hugs and mostly happiness , which I wanted. A few tears along the way but mainly so much laughter.

Our friends came back and all we did was hoot with laughter which was amazing, then we caught up with SIL's and hooted some more!

I've seen my sister, all too briefly, but enough to be held by her and know that she is always there for me.

I've had a roll and slice, a scotch pie and beans, a chinese takeway, an empire biscuit ( okay 2) , nibbled on favourite crisps, a pineapple tart, a fruit scone... I may have had a banana though and some cherry tomatoes so have had some vitamins!

My MIL is in hospital , safe. She has had increasing dementia. Knows who we are at times. Has enjoyed strawberry tarts with her boy, chatted to her grandchildren on FaceTime , smiling the biggest smiles whilst she did . I'm grateful to ward staff who've allowed us to spent time out with a very strict visiting hour to have time with, to take her to hospital canteen, to sit quietly in her room and chat .

Enjoyed fresh Scottish air. It's lovely. Enjoyed bathtubs of hot water, without worrying about metering , enjoyed the friendliness of strangers..." Morning ! " as I came out the local shop, and smiling and remembering that's just what we do over here! I do this over in Oz, with varying degrees of response! Looking strangely at 'foreign paper money ' ours is all plastic, getting 1p and 2p in change..ours is rounded up or down to nearest 0 or 5 cent. I've been remembering my bags when I go shopping ( which I do when I shop at home but they do waste a lot of plastic bags over there)

We have 3 tiny days left . So much still to do and see. The familiarity of home and how we just slot in again is very comforting. No matter what lies ahead of us we will always have this time in our hearts.

I hope all are well, I've not had a chance to read posts ( it's a bit rude , when you are visiting !) however...we do say "hi, how are you? What's your modem password? "

Catch up when I can x

    Hurrah mhagster & OH!
Keep right on having a ball - we'll all be here whenever you get unrestricted wifi.
Filling a goodies bag with little delicacies you can get through customs?
    Huge hugs!

    I'll get the Baby's Heads!

5 Snorkers again yesterday for tea, in caramelised onions, proper pan gravy, new tatties, minted and buttered. Peas, cauliflower florets, normalised carrots and garden peas. Pudding was missed this week as BoP could not be bothered! All that after dippy eggs and buttered marmite soldiers in the morning. Note to Mila. Marmite, brown stuff. Puts hairs on yer chest!

4 Games night yesterday and apologies as it was not live. BoPsie is still only one win away from the chance of two on the bounce. Then we had table top football out. Spring wood and ball bearing. Fast pace action and we had a crowd disturbance as well. Raffles was more interested in the pips than the ball! Score was not kept, as it is a game of skill. When played with wobbleales, you can only drink when is possession of the ball! If you'rer not in possession, you cannot stop the goals! For the uninitiated, it is like bagatelle!

3 Sunny here and watching the cricket! Looking good. Wasted me money on a finish tomorrow.

2 Morrrow, Jenny is being tested again. She was rebooted last month, one hopes she is not ripped out!

    Where's it gone!

    PM2Mila.
    Snorkers - Sausages
Baby Heads - Tinned Steak and Kidney Pudding, normally swimming in a Baine Marie and gravy!

Shhhh now everyone, Mhags inn the pasrish

I do enjoy my catch up reads on here. Thank you all.

A wonderful time with DD & DGC earlier who went home with various goodies including a cycling shirt for DGS marked XXL that fitted him quite well..!

They also got one of those self inflating lounger type bags that were/are very popular at festivals. DD was excited about this, they were/are £50 a throw there.

Slight summer cold is receding. I'm very cold resistant, but got coughed over thoroughly last week at the live music club by the person next to me. I was videoing, so was a sitting duck.

DGC are B-P Scouts and are off tomorrow on a Scout activity week, the B-P Scouts being big on outdoor activities. Lint from my tumble drier was carefully harvested as being ideal tinder. DGD is a Senior Scout, DGS a Scout. She used to be a Brownie but they bored her to tears (apologies to any Brownie leaders) and she enjoys the more active aspects of Scouting.

Their great-great-grandfather, who died at Ypres, was one of Baden Powell's very first Scout instructors. There is a special memorial to him and his fellow Scouts from their town who died in WW I.

I have a new foot spa to soak tired feet in. So tempted to use it now, but bed would be a better option.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
