  • 1) A trip to the arboretum where we have membership as it has been such a lovely day.

    2) Banks of wild flowers under the trees, primroses, violets, celandines, bluebells and white wood anemones so pretty

    3) A lovely walk with Charlie retriever across the common and along the footpaths where we saw a jay and 2 fledglings in the woods and 2 roe deer does in the wilderness field being watched from the long grass by a fox cub, wonderful day for wildlife.

    4) Lots of new leaves coming on the trees, every day seems to make the world slightly greener.

    5) Don't have to cook this evening as we have lovely cold brisket and salad for supper.

    Quick pleasures for today (Wednesday):

    1) Not a very good sleep but better than Monday night.

    2) Work was different people and rooms from normal.

    3) Feeling better today - just bit of a cough left now.

    4) Argh moments with Land Registry and court. :-/ Court had very swiftly posted out to me... totally the wrong document! Got on the phone and they are posting out the correct one. Land Registry emailed to say I have to drive over in person (Coventry! Might see if the Wales one is closer) and take another form, ID in my name and old name and a passport photo. :-/

    5) Did quite a bit on the allotment. Planted pumpkins and courgettes - about 6 of each. Then dad said there are frosts coming and snow next week so we handcrafted each plant a little plastic greenhouse!

    6) Caught the hen formerly known as Betty and she is now living at my parents'. Quite a performance catching him though he is very docile. Bigger son and I released him into a run of lady hens at dad's. He leapt out of the sleeping area and dashed off with a small hen. Bigger son said, "Oh no, he's attacking that one!". "Er, no, they are very good friends now..." We have been imitating his show off strutting walk ever since!

    7) In bed now with hwb and might find something to listen to on iplayer.

    1. Back from a fabulous (I never thought I'd say that!) 2 night, 3 day residential trip with my 'orrible class and the other class in my year group :)

    2. We were blessed with amazing weather and so the now-traditional (i.e. it's happened 2 years on the trot) pyjama and welly boot play in the gardens after the feast was able to take place :)

    3. Hopefully 58 memory banks are fit to burst with short-term memories, with some long-term fond memories of their first residential trip embedding themselves. I will certainly have many lovely memories :)

    4. Back to my gorgeous, wonderful. cuddly, excitable DD :)

    5. And to a mother who is outdoing herself with her mobility prowess :)

    6. Finally, to my bed, which is lovely, even if I can't sleep as per blooming usual!

    1. Made a artistic(for me) flower arrangement with the last remaining daffodils and some willow. DH was reducing the height of the trees.

    2. A free lunch at we. A rep had come in on Tuesday and I was working elsewhere but there was enough left for my lunch(and a couple of others) yesterday.

    3. I have to park off-site when I work at Medway hospital and have to catch a minibus from the car park to the hospital. Yesterday on the way back to the car the traffic was terrible and so the driver drove us through the historic dock yard. It was a lovely drive seeing the ships and buildings.

    4. Chat with work colleague who I normally don't work with.

    5. My Dad is home and feeling ok following his surgery. He was ill following the anaesthetic but has recovered. Hopefully it will be a speedy recovery then the rest of his treatment can start.
  • Oh dear, VJsMam. The cut on the carrot is dependent on the carrot! We were due to have batten carrots this time, but the circumference of the ones presented at W8rz was conducive to making them into doorstops. And doorstops we have. Tons of them. Nicely brewed in stew, with a dumpling. Rubs Tum!

Anyone else care to question BoP's culinary skills, please seek advice thirst!

Now were are we. Oh yeas, for your grater reading pleasures.

5 Great Aunt Liz has her birthday today. She is 90. Happy birthday to Liz! Town is all dressed up for her as well.

4 Just popped into butcher for Saturday's breakfast snorkers. They look delicious. Won't be long before they cook under the grill.

3 Still waiting on the news from the south coast. And another one next week.

2 Night BoP hopes to get his trophy back at the CC. Lost it last year, came second and third. Hopefully will have the slate, but stiff competition from upstarts!

Yesterday came once again for the young
  • OK, before you all go looking, BoP gives you a treat about trouts and other things!

  • 1) Lovely chat with DD2 last night, she was telling me that when they were in the USA they visited a beach where there were elephant seals and telling Zebra what they were he looked at her as though she was bonkers and said 'It's not an elephant Mamma!'.

    2) He Who Knows cardiac scan today went well and seems to have been OK, relief!!!

    3) Lentil and cheese loaf for supper, one of my favourite meals.

    4) The broad bean plants we thought were not thriving in the garden are today covered in flowers.

    5) The new fence panels are going in tomorrow (well maybe not all of them, definitely some).
  • Frith has Betty been renamed ? Sounds like he's settling into his new home nicely ;)

    1. chilly morning turned into a lovely sunny day by time I left work at 1pm

    2. took some asparagus back to aldi - it had gone rotten within 3 days despite being kept in the fridge and smelt dreadful once the packs were opened ... got a full refund plus money back for one pack thrown away

    3. got two loads of washing done and line dried

    4. afternoon nap :o I think this is becoming an almost daily occurrence. Blood tests Friday to see if anything else going on

    5. saw DS in full uniform on local news

    1. Went to SW, dropped below the stone level I'd been struggling with for weeks. Not long now before I can wear all the clothes in my wardrobe :)
    2. Cleaned the windows, hand sewed the new dining room net curtains and hung them. They're very white!
    3. Put all the old nets on local fc, snapped up in a couple of minutes. One bag less to clutter the house
    4. A couple of quiet hours this afternoon so sat in the garden with a biography I've been looking forward to reading. Thoroughly enjoyed what I managed to read before siesta overtook me
    5. Watching the local firemen in the cherry picker/Simon Snorkel or whatever they're called these days, light the beacon on top of the fire station tower this evening.

    Sweet dreams :)
