Good evening everyone!
A busy weekend, which adds to the pleasures:
1) My mum came for a few hours of shopping on Saturday. My dad had sent money to buy a snack lunch.
2) Lunch with friends on Sunday, followed by a walk by the river.
3) Trip to the farmers' market. The freezer is full again. Think I've got many meals sorted, which can only be a good thing in my eyes!
4) Finished my book :j :j and started a new one!
5) Trying to read through the Marie Kondo book. Has anyone followed it? I just need time to read it before implementing it!!!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Quick pleasures as I'm tired!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Long lasting cold/sore throat finally getting better.
3) Not a bad day at work.
4) Went to the tips after work for 5 sacks of soil improver. That'll do for planting the courgettes, pumpkins and squash, perhaps next weekend.
5) A nice parcel came through the post. ;-)
6) Child Maintenance (formerly CSA) phoned and they had been on to the ex about his "shared care". He said he couldn't prove it (!) and has capitulated to their demand of £30 per month.
7) Then had Halifax on the phone apologising a lot (again) and they're going to sort out my credit rating for me.
8) Brother took my sons for a game of tennis.
9) I'm going to try and get on top of the housework this week instead of leaving it all until the weekend. Changed the beds tonight and tidied up a bit. Did 2 loads of washing.
10) Enjoyed watching the Island with bigger son.0 -
My pleasures for today
1. Slept really well
2. Home made banana smoothie for breakfast + coffee.
3. Made spicy lentil soup for this weeks lunches.
4. Washing dried outside.
5. Glasses broke whilst having eyes tested, arm broke off, lovely staff managed to find a pair which would fit my lenses in & only charged me £20. Have ordered new glasses though, this was to put me on till they're ready.0 -
Had a good weekend.
1. Went to Wakehurst Place which was lovely for a walk and bluebells were out and looking beautiful. It always seems such a friendly place as people talk as they wander about.
2. Planted more seeds straight into the garden so hoping they will appear.
3. Had a good meal - Mexican with DS2 before he went back to uni. His interview went well and he now knows his duties for the summer.
4. Good chat with DS1 who seems really happy in his new job.
He told me about a school friend who has opened a new coffee shop. He says it's busy which is good. I know the boy's father had helped tremendously with business plan and a deposit.
5. DH saw his mother without me.0 -
Well now, a fair few 'blow me downs' as I do quick catch up, excited enough that &utah has deigned to fire up.
But first, plea to bop, please can you size down your pics to fit screen?
-with Congrats to Lady Bopsie and every best wish to you, bop, for next i/v
Welcome to horse 76. This is a good place:-)
Frith - useful parcel should have arrived first; vaguely 'nice' kindred one following. Annoying that they couldn't coincide.
villagelife - smiled at your no.4. Shades of vjm comments passim there:-)
tt - had very same thing happen. Saw arm on road as I stepped into car for Spits at 0230h last Thurs. Had no chance to do anything about it until Fri and luckily, Spectacular Opticians also had one last same frame left. £19 price has not altered for over 10 years.

1. Amid all such luckies, this did not promise well when trying to start this machine earlier:
Inactivity Timeout Description: Too much time has passed without sending any data for document.
#
Of course untrue, but it's a newbie in the notspot diary of this lump of Fens.
Reason was to record/celebrate actually being able to phone enzed, normal style, for aberdonian Aunt's 87th birfday. All good there. Some rellies already present, others were arriving, circa 19h.
2. ...during which chat [the Scottish link], was able to do a good Shout for

Lainey, do anything you can to get to them tonight at The Junction in town of Uni.
[Junction will be an even better 'Get Up and Join In' venue]
P-L-E-E-E-E-E-A-S-E!
As & expected, & did indeed lurve - and fully participate :-))))) with 2 refreshment visits for tincture of Little Brown Bird, befitting North of Border performers, only polite.
Oh! the static fools who had expensive sit down seats in the balconies ;-)
& was most pleased to be told it was 'Standing Tickets Only'. Had intended specifiying this anyway.
11 beautiful men musicians, with fantastic, innovative, glorious sounds and rhythm and movement.
If any of you can get yourselves there, PLEASE DO. Absolutely wonderful and brilliant for the soul, apart from them being lovely fellas, consummate musicians and really keen to meet and talk with everyone afterwards. 11 of them, so BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG soaring sounds, also haunting, also wild rocking, also melodic and sheer exuberant joy.

[gives an idea, but somehow v. flat on youtube TO's sound lives and jumps and courses and sings through the veins and bones]
3. Farce of bloodletting appt yday, early en route to Charity. All change - not in Surgery any more, but at a Sainsbury's!!! - wha-a-a-t? - or hospital in town of horse.
Ended up not happening. Notice said 'only one phlebotomist in today. Be prepared for long delays.' Couldn't be late, so left. Try again today.
Sainsbury's???? I never go near one. Not sure where one is.
No thankyou. Still, only 1st world probs. and v.g. working day with all pitching in.
4. Some lovely bits to research from early Trump on Sunday in the bitter, bitter cold:
Exactly like this one, but NO damage, 1925, extra provenance in markings altho' unworking, exquisite thing, with niello+back enamel cartouche rim inlays not shown well in pics here.

Edit: This was filthy, but cleaned judiciously & sees Henry Matthews' H and M in 2 squares nicely to rim. Luvverley. and Swiss clockmaker's scratched in date 18/12/21. All fits.:-))))))...as TO belt out 'Sausages' here:

Superb enamelling, painting and gilt work.

'Just those 3 things? That will be £5', said severe seller. & did not haggle, gave more.
5. ....which sat with v.v.v. good Church address and readings and organ music. We are lucky. Great organist+our really upbeat modern Morning Prayer Venite is good stuff. Lots of handknitted baby clothes to refugee event, too.

I do believe I'm off for the next 6 days off at least. Busy days ahead and lots to do.
Worky work was fine, rather quiet but I had enough to do. Made carrot cakes, brownies. Empire biscuits, sausage rolls and frittatas. Made strawberry and coconut muffins then made strawberry and caramel ones for tomorrow .
Made myself a chip roll for my lunch ! Schlurp!
OH had the day off ( usually I don't work on a Tuesday ) so he picked me up, we went and something to eat ( both of us had leftovers bagged up) and then did the grocery shopping. I've been buying a gift card each week for when we go on holiday in June/ july. I have to buy a seperate one each time , can't add to the original card. Dog food was on offer , don't think I've ever paid full price for it. Stock up when it's on offer.
Just going to have rtc cream sponge for pudding.
Plants watered and my new plants are flowering and rather lovely.
Have a good day0 -
Out and about.
Inn Havant. Eating packed oranges and roll. Just checked emporium S. There us meal steal. Steer clear. Five day old sandwich and fizz. Avoid.
Interview soon.0 -
1) Bubble and Squeak soup for lunch, new to us recipe but will be going in the make again often book, yummy!
2) Washing dried outside on the line in super quick time today.
3) We've taken down and processed a eucalyptus tree that started to grow outwards not upwards and kept breaking its support tie, shame about the tree but the scent as we cut it up was heavenly.
4) Nice Cookie walk with Charlie retriever and his Mum, the lanes and footpaths are alive with birdsong at the moment and masses of white blossom, beautiful.
5) Lawns mown, love the smell and how it looks afterwards, all neat and tidy and well.0 -
mhagster - happy Citizenship to you & yours! May all you thing things you love & care for grow - in health, wisdom, courage. Ah tablet - happy smiles at memories around that stuff - "fudge" on steroids....
ampersand - delighted you're back, Spits working & a bank offering interest! Greetings, little R! Madame Thrush knows what she's doing & is warm & safe & apparently content - amidst the hurlyburly of school holidays I am strongly minded to take notes... Happy birthday Aberdonian Aunt - may it be a splendid family shindig!
Frith - devastated to read of your health, startled by chicken, & much impressed by sons getting on with things - a admirable trait clearly learned from you. Smiling at saga of cooker, scowling at Post Ex Paperwork but very glad whomever CSA are this week sorted his "lack of evidence".
Purple Kitten - hurrah on new job! Hope all goes well? Careful with the nice shoes - test *out* of work?! Love the idea of replacement ferret T shirt.
Lainey - attagal sorting better for you hours - makes so much more sense Working to Suit You than any other blighter. What's in Bill's mix that we may formulate variants?! All taken internally? (Would porridge work as a bran mash?)
VJsmum - hurrah with progress on thesis, & shared your chuckle at young musician line!
sparrer - so glad you & friend reconnected - sometimes misunderstandings & embarassments go On & on & on. Lamb with garlic & rosemary? Sounds Wonderful!
kittikins - glad DD restored to charm & mother back to autonomous mobility & hurrah sleepy young fox!
Aaarghusername - welcome! Line drying splendidly OS & then fresh bedlinens - ah! Delighted to read tortoise enjoying deadnettles. Cousins have shared responsibility for family tortoise & have always struggled to know what to offer
Mrs LW - love holidaying Zebra zonked in cupboard, impressed by bluebells on lawn, & awed at all the laundry on the line!
VickyA - touched by your dad sending your mum over with money to buy a snack lunch & if you want to hear Kondo in action, drop in on the Kondo thread on MSE! (vjsmum is a Konvert)
BoP - glorious grub as ever (Raffles a good guard cat, as teenagers have eyed & dropped hints like anvils?!)
OS Pleasures this last fortnight or so!
Sunshine twinkling on the river!
Herbs on son's windowsill powering along - he says it's water & Metallica that does the trick...
Disheartened by Apple refusing me the kindle app as the ios was too hold, now delighted to find an old download still possible & has revealed my reading material still there! Wonderful funnybunny phone. Never doubt these things have personalities...
"You're not coming! I'll get sweeping duties on a lake!" Son vehement we do not come to see his museum while he's on work experience there. [So just I went in, but with everyone else in the car....]
Reading & re-reading the instructions on how to set up new phones in house. The magic pixies are now working!
Sons allowed a lie-in. However: "after midday, that's a coma." I will be interested to see how the living dead cope with being woken. [Badly.]
Child, eyeing orange quiff on m&m packet, uttered doubts about Trump improving sales. Youth "politically disengaged" eh?
Seeds showing little flashes of green & white Already!
Canada geese gracefully patrolling the river.
Cherry blossom buds fattening & getting a brighter green each morning. Glossy with rain this morning - beautiful!
Eavesdropping on a grandma's disgust at having to pay £2 for an Easter card without a stamp. Still, the love never dates & the handwriting can only get better...
Silver charm with medical connotations arrives just as I'm starting antibiotics. As well I love irony...
Son leafing through Tom Lehrer CDs checking off the songs he thinks he recognises & chirping happily at the fun in store!
James May reassembling an electric guitar - husband happily clamp spotting behind him (ah, tool envy!) seems we're all happy!
Chatting with car park chap - ranging natters - clogs to cars to me trying to persuade him to give haggis (the foodstuff!) a chance. Friday food fantasy!
Cherry blossom buds getting piebald as new green expands and protective pinky brown recedes - blossom in generous potential!
Trailing family looking for The Green Soap & feeling wildly f*ckless.... Asking a knowledgeable looking little old lady, seems I should be in Home Bargains not looking amongst this "modern nonsense!"
"How many cups of tea do you drink in a day?" "She *chain-smokes* tea." Cheers dear son. To my mother in law, as well (who laughed like a drain!)
The tree by the river (whose name escapes me so I'll call him Sid) has lots of juicy plump promising buds. Clearly wet roots mean Sid flourishes but my cherry tree is further inland.
A cheerful bored paparazzo explained his presence - the Paris St. Germain team are in the big hotel. Gosh I'm glad I'm out early - football traffic can be a real bear.
How so you judge occupancy? If by bottles in the bathroom windows, then the new built flats are now fully occupied!
Some of the cherry buds have popped! Tiny green leaves reach up to be cuddled by the Sun!
I offered to trim a son's hair with the clippers & he declined: "you'd cut me" "with clippers?!" "You'd find a way, you're inventive that way!"
The radio is babbling about lovely weather as I drive through thick cold wet mist. How will the longed-for cherry blossom cope? [splendidly, hallelujah!]
Walking though mist I love how it changes depth of field, veils the distant & improves focus up close.
One of our security doors is broken. The neat heap of bits on the desk by mine is intriguing.
Looking at a family snap & realising one son's glasses are very slightly askew. From his expression, he's fine with that.
Colleague puttering with teacup humming under his breath. My hindbrain recognised it as Thine Be The Glory...
Not sure scattering chicken pellet fertiliser was a pleasure but watering it in & seeing rainbows was. (Oh my disbelieving son!) Then sluicing all the trees & herb pots & the edible hedge then son demanding his turn and systematically soaking the front garden. Special damp & grubby gardener's grin shared!
Mid call & response "I'll sing you one-o!" as we scrubbed hands etc, another son called "tea upstairs" & we stopped & howled with laughter - such subtlety!
Rousing hurrahs for all on holiday, enjoy the sunshine whilst we have it & all the best with the coming week!0 -
Just back inn. Listening to the Mariners. #UTM
Thinks went ok.
