Good morning , it's Friday and good morning from one of Australia's newest citizens!

    Thursday pleasures:

Up earlyish ( though later than normal) and phone call to friend from home.

Started cooking and baking, made a huge lasagne, cupcakes, mini pavlovas, tiny meringues to go on top of my lemon cupcakes and empire biscuits....the bad dog may have had meringue on his head and a cupcake ( and its cardboard outer) in his belly and then later on been found with crumbs on his chin and a lesser number of biscuits available to ice!

My youngest daughter seems to magnetically attract drama ... school athletics carnival, text from her I have been told I need to do the relay....she has not taken part in PE for a year, has a diagnosed hip problem and absolutely cannot run with it. Much texting going back and fro, me getting more and more stressed by it all ....told her to show my text to a teacher ( event was not at school, so phoning in was not an option) ....he said we should not mess with your mother! Wise man!

Popped out to local shops for a few bits and pieces. Lovely warm autumn day.....scrunching through leaves with your sandals on is just not right!

All gladrags on and out we went to become Citizens of Australia. A beautiful ceremony with wise words, fabulous singing and some indigenous music and dancing . Stood up to take the oath and were presented with our certificates and a plant and a flag.

Came home with someone else's plant that they'd left behind. So now have 6 new plants for the garden. I shall pot them up today .

Went for a pizza to celebrate.

Tonight we are having some friends over to celebrate so need to do a bit of tidying and some more cooking but hoping for a fairly relaxed day !

    Have a good one !

:T Congratulations to you all mhags, hope you have a super party with your fellow citizens _party_

    1. Went to SW, I've lost the 1/2lb I put on last week that I lost the week before. That 1/2lb is the bane of my life but it amuses the others :)
    2. The small bedroom decoration is finished, the very nice man did a couple more small jobs for me but wouldn't take any extra for it
    3. Went to a carpet warehouse and bought a cream end of roll for the small bedroom. It was ridiculously cheap and included fitting so very OS
    4. My half price leg of lamb is thawed, decorated with garlic cloves and rosemary and is now sitting in the fridge waiting to be cooked tomorrow (today)
    5. Back to back Mock the Week, which is why I'm only just going to bed

    Sweet dreams :)

    Congratulations to Mhags and family.

    1. Finished work for the week. Managed to have all work up to date -only involved 3 hours of overtime. The fight to claim the time back will start next week!

    2. Spent some time in the garden with a coffee and just some tidying up.

    3. DS2 is coming home today for his job interview tomorrow. Not really an interview as he has the job. It's part time over the summer but well paid.

    4. Spoke with my Dad and he seems to be ok and is waiting for results o his scan.

    5. It's the start of the weekend for me.
  • There'll be no fire sale this year!

5 Raffles was a bit sniffly last eve, as it was a tadge pollen. No problem, BoPsie made sure his balls were ok, and fed him his usual food. This morning he was as happy as ever, pulling the birds, but BoPsie was too quick for him and he soon retreated. Unfortunately, we left the lounge door open and chaos. Feathers everywhere. The local populace has been reduced by one.

4 BoPsie soon gathered up the feathers with her broom, and normality returned. Not for long, because Raffles decided that it was time her wardrobe was rearranged. He gets the doors open by waggling at them and dumped her smalls on the floor. Raffles is ok, he is licking his paws.

3 OK, At the CC last night, sexism was rife as the Men vs Ladies battle was drawn out. The result, as predicted last evening in this parish. The men won! Easily! Great night.

2 Also last evening, BoP made storming chicken korma. With delicate onions of toe nail, mushrooms and fried rice. Rubs tum. Nice. Just now, the elevenses are being delivered, with cakes of Jaffa to help the tea be more palatable. Rubs Tum.

    The Stars breathe fire
The sun moves across the sky
    The truth, is a lie
    But never doubt love!
  • Hello all, hope you are all well on this drizzly day. My five things are as follows:

    1. Currently bleaching/whitening the flannels and towels as they are looking a bit grey and tired and need refreshing.

    2. Have had a good clear out and have put a load of books/CDs and DVDs on Ziffit/Music Magpie to raise a bit of cash.

    3. Trying to decide what to cook for dinner. It will be quinoa (as I have a ton to use up), but what with? I have no idea...

    4. Have some daisy seedlings to !!!!! out - I think I'll be doing this at the kitchen table as opposed to in the garden.

    5. But first, will be putting on the kettle and doing a wee bit of knitting.
  • Sorry, had to laugh at your news of your "hen" Frith !

Some pleasures for the last few days,

It was a beautiful day on Wednesday, warm and sunny so lots of time spent outside, freckles have started to put in appearance.

Lovely farrier finally turned up, only a week late :rotfl: but commented that my equine pal seemed more supple whilst having his feet trimmed. He is now on a blend of oils and turmeric, Billy that is, not the farrier, although given the way me ankles crack in the mornings am tempted to give it a go myself.

Love a thunderstorm and we had a cracker at work yesterday afternoon, not much wind so rolled around for ages.

Karma is a wonderful thing, driving home in apalling wet conditions Thursday after work, complete idiot right up my Harris, obviously trying to make me go faster. Got to roundabout by the village, by this time he was a car behind, looked in my rear mirror only to see him spin his car around and ended up facing the wrong way He obviously took the roundabout too fast and lost it:(

Day off today, wet first walk with the dogs, pleasure was wrapping little one in a warm towel and her snuggling up to me.

Went food shopping in W@trose and got nice piece of YS gammon for freezer.

Venison meatballs for tea tonight, small glass of Pinot noir to be consumed with, am ok have saved me calories

Congratulations to Mhags family on your Citizenship :j
  • 1) My very much appreciated OS friends who pick me up when I'm down and make me feel loved again.

    2) The woodstove which we lit at lunchtime today as the rain was biblical and the house was really cold.

    3) Having a good store cupboard that meant I could rustle us up a nice warming hot supper without having to set foot outside today.

    4) Reading all YOUR pleasures which has become one of the nicest pleasures in my life.

    5) Sea Scouts Jumble Sale on in the village hall tomorrow morning which I shall enjoy going to very much.

Sigh....I need to go back to work this morning but yay! I don't need to lug out all the furniture and set up !

Lovely Friday off and it was indeed a lovely Friday, we got quite warm and again I crunched through autumn leaves with my sandals on!

Small blip in my day as DD2 wasn't feeling great so had to get a GP appointment and take her and wait for her and take her back ....but I sat with a magazine and was entertained , as we all were, in the waiting room by a gorgeous 4 month old baby.

Home and pottered with intent! Tidied house ...encouraged offspring to tidy too. Tall son went round with a cloth on a broom and removed cobwebs then stood on a stool and cleaned ceiling fan.

Made more mini empire biscuits, cooked lasagne , made nachos, a salad, put cream in mini pavlovas, cupcakes on a cake stand and tablet in little bowls and was good to. Had a lovely evening with friends over , who had never met each other but they all mingled and had a nice time. Our 'oldest ' friends, as in the ones we've known the longest brought us all silly Aussie gifts! OH and DS got a huge tie and a hat, DD1 got a huge sealed money tin with dollars on it, DD2 got big dangly flag earrings and I got a cuddly toy red back spider! Who is a lot cuter than the real thing let me tell you!
One of DD1's friend brought a jar absolutely full of koala caramellos, which are like freddos. Someone brought flowers and others brought themselves which was just fine.

Not too late a night but a shock when the alarm went off this morning, so I'd better get a wriggle on!
