1) a glorious Easter was enjoyed (perhaps a little too much - then realised at nearly midnight, still in the pub, i was the only one working Monday. Lucky for me I was by then onto soda & lime)
2) sunny weather - have adjusted the heating time (xoh would have it on all the time given the chance)
3) lovely hm pork stew. last portion out the freezer for today's lunch
4) tea at mum's. gloriously sunny walk to hers, shepherds pie followed by rhubarb out of her garden yum
5) too tired to watch last episode of the night manager - that's tonight's treat, so instead back for the weekend 80s. brought back some memories!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello, almost bedtime for me, Ive been awake since ridiculously early (3.45am) one teeny, tiny day off but a birthday day off.
Did the ironing whilst watching Corrie.
Took dog with us to Como House, near the city. It's a National Trust property though not open today, we had a nice wander round the gardens and breakfast in the stable restaurant. I had a rather overpriced toastie! Another wander round the rest of the gardens and back to car. They have a fabulous veggie garden which we had a nice wander through.
Home and picked up girls and went out for coffee and cake with them. I had a berry cheesecake.
OH and I went to cinema, ( cheap tickets on a Tuesday ) saw my big fat Greek wedding 2, easy watching.
DD2 started a new job in local bakery.
Party food for tea and rtc cream sponge for birthday cake.
Was cool today , I was able to wear long jeans, socks , a jumper and a gilet and a scarf! Fabulous! After months of sweating through life it's so nice to wrap up a bit!
I've a rather sore throat , a tickley cough and not enough time to be unwell. Back to work tomorrow ....that was quick!
Kittikins well done on the job offer....onwards and upwards.
Skint well done to your boy.
Have a great day and you may all have cake ! I will be back to sugar free again tomorrow !0 -
PM 2 DD Mad March and I think our chance now is as good as Alice's Tea Party. Oh bu99er, that was the hatters!"
Apologies to Sparra for the deliberate profanity!
5 BoPsie well overspent yesterday as she grabbed a packet of biscuits at £1.50p. Extortionate! Threw the food bill for the week well up to just short of £19! If she had not bought the biscuits, and a packet of sugar, it would had been around £17 instead. Not shopped at the Emporium T though!
4 Good start to the day as Poached eggs were placed on hot buttered toast and marmite. Rubs Tum. Toast and raspberry jam was also spread later. Tea was drunk.
3 Just off into town and banking, then off to throw stones in pond and trick the ducks. Then off for a cup of tea. Cake may be consumed as well!
2 I see the FrancoGermaniac Coal and Steel Federation is not helping our steel industry again. Just the same as the French sweeping the shores forty years ago. You don't need BoP telling you what to do.
The blast furnace purifies the iron.
Please note, this does not mean that BoP would support Scunthorpe United!
Apologies to Sparra, BoP knows how to get Scunny through the S!!!!horpe profanity filter!0 -
1. The yellow of the rapeseed plants in a field as I drove to school on yup, a holiday, to sort out some mess (and make more....I'm not the neatest of people!)
2. A nice chat with the Spanish lady on the till at MrW's as she complimented me on my choice of alcoholic beverage...Cointreau.
3. One delicious cocktail made with their rather strange recipe in their rather strange freebie of a plastic Cointreau-shaped bottle to prepare it in/drink it from. I eschewed the drinking option for a proper glass (I must be getting old!)
4. Big hugs from a colleague to whom it was let slip that I'm leaving. I think the 'secret' won't take long to spread!
5. I had a second set of story entries to judge for the national childrens' competition - fingers crossed that it might stand me in good stead for being invited to the finals!
6. Cuddles from my DD, who's getting a bit too cool for school at the mo...but thankfully she still loves her mummykins, even if are starting to lock horns from time to time!0 -
1. Being able to have a snoozette to try and get on top of a headache.:o
2. A lovely jacket spud and tuna for lunch.:)
3. I am enjoying using up what we have, admittedly it’s out of necessity but still, I have worked down one freezer with food planning and still another to get through, we can go 2 months without buying meat or shrimp. Tonight I made wraps, used up freezer chicken and rice with cucumber and cheese.
4. Hoovered the whole house, dusted and got the washing up to date.
5. I went out late for 3 set items, however 2 half price at 50p cinnabons and a set of 7p hot x buns needed a home putting pay to any healthy eating, a reminder as I needed one not to go shopping at RTC time as that was with willpower…:rotfl::o0 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) A lie in!
2) Went to town for a cup of tea with my school friend.
3) Off to Malvern for charity shops. Got the perfect card for a colleague who has been ill then looked through some maps and there was one of the part of Switzerland that we are going to!
4) Got some very cheap soft fruit bushes and plant labels from Wilkos.
5) Had tea and got shopping from Waitrose.
6) Phone calls from sons and a text to meet another friend on Friday.
7) Sat by the stove and watched Holby City, One Born Every Minute then First Dates.0 -
Happy birthday MHags :bdaycake:
Pleasures for Tuesday
1. after a brief downpour the weather was bright and breezy - more bedding washed and dried on the line
2. trip to aldi and weekly food shop on budget
3. home again - shopping put away, tidied and dishwasher on
4. did some batch cooking - breakfasts today for DS - calzone (stuffed omelette type thing) and turkey toast ... blergh !
5. popped to asda to try and get some jeans but all standard length meant I would be walking on the hems - why is there such a shortage of short length for short !!!!!! such as me
6. car dealer has agreed to polish out a few scratches on new (to me) car - and have offered to put paint protection on for free - worth £199.99 !!
7. Managed to fit in a bit of relaxing - caught up on some recorded tv
8. got a refund from DVLA for old car tax grand total of £3.33 ! Wasn't expecting anything as it was only £20 a year but not complaining better in my picket than theirs0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗

BoP - you didn't hear me laughing, you heard the pan sizzling as the lads wolfed pancakes in synch!
Purple kitten - surely using leftovers is food planning - I mean you had "leftovers"! (I have teenagers.)
Frith - love "less important flowers" - totally agree! I got a fruitbush from Wilco last year but didn't unwrap its roots with sufficient care, so was very delicate unwrapping then somewhat heavy handed with the rootgrow when I potted on the poundshop fruits this year.
kittikins - all best with glorious sounding New School (puffed up with vicarious pride on your behalf here!) & hurrah for Cointreau from a Real Glass!
Skint - delighted to hear the no takeaway ban can flex around parental generosity, well done DS & glad you had yellow thing Monday. Happy week-off-work! As a fellow member of the too-short-to-rock-turn-ups, I share your pain. Covet your yellow stuff!
DundeeDoll - mindful of the comments of this parish I have caught up with Night Manager & wow. Hid's too young & undented for Bond at the minute, whereas Laurie may be a bit senior (dash!) but woooh!
Mhagster - Happy Happy Happy Birthday! Love the idea of you wandering through stately veggie gardens. Plying you with virtual cake & toddies!
Purple kitten - love the sound of your freezers & blimey well done on the RTCs!
Ampersand - no idea where you are but hoping well & happy, even if short on a decent coffee. Where do you stand on England vs New Zealand in the semi finals at cricket?
OS Pleasures
I have a new (extra!) windowsill for my germinator trays. How many seeds will germinate let alone go on to become seedlings let alone survive Outside matters a little less! [7 loaded, 8th for last minute decisions & "but why didn't you?"s]
"Not minestrone." "Why'd you buy it then?!" - some nights being a mum is not as rewarding as they say!
Applying Google-fu & Which to replace drier. I keep hoping to use the line but the rain keeps falling!
The lollipopped trees have buds! All still sealed against uncertain weather but clearly visible! Cherry trees beginning to show green - blossom watch starts today...
Sorting blinds with a few judicious tugs. Glad girls' school comes in useful.
The end of the month approaches, Foolishness likewise, and I am wandering around watering tiny pots & hoping. Whilst outside it rains or snows. Raffles, dear soul, lay off the newts & stretch north?!0 -
Happy Birthday (UK time) mhags
BoP as an Army brat and Army wife your 'profanity' isn't!
Skint the paint protection has proved invaluable here, a great idea and very OS to get it free
Congratulations Kittikins, the job sounds lovely. Good luck!
1. Gardener friend called to ask when I want him to start. We've agreed that I'll get some colour for the pots and he'll do the lawn at the same time. Bit peeved as it grates to give in but will still do what I can. Bu99er sitting on my *ss while other people run round after me!
2. Good shopping day yesterday, didn't spend (too) much. Looking for a grey scarf I found a gorgeous plum and gold one so had to buy it. Still looking for a grey one. My turn to treat DD to lunch at a fast food type place, they did lovely salads as well so didn't feel deprived.
3. Managed to persuade DD to see her GP, she's been unwell since December and like her mother she refuses to ask for help. As we thought he would the GP diagnosed it as 'viral', if it doesn't go in a month to go back. Worrying as DD has Lupus and has had two flares during that time. No tests done so will try to persuade her to ask for them when she goes back - which she will, like it or not! Wish she was at my surgery, they're so efficient.
3. Lazy start today, treadmill, shower, full English for breakfast, pottered in the bedroom and bathroom doing a bit of cleaning/tidying, now sitting with a cuppa before hitting the tm again. All in wonderful sunshine, perfik
4. Fished another shopping bag made from a curtain. Used the lining to line it so cost nothing. The local wood yard kindly gave me the ply for the base board, even cut it to size for me. One more to go and I'll have saved £20 on the ones you can buy to fit a shopping trolley.
5. Just booked a weekend away for July and two retreat days between now and then, both where I can take the dog. Poor old thing needs a rest from the cat sometimes...
Enjoy the rest of the day0
