Another poorly here. Waiting for the antibiotics to work and wondering what to do if they don't!

    Happy belated birthday, MHags.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) 2 hours on the allotment. Planted soft fruit bushes, strawberries and 2 rows of onions.

    2) Bigger son appeared on the allotment bearing the new hen house! He built it in his shed.

    3) Crab salad (again) for lunch.

    4) Doctors in the afternoon and she was helpful.

    5) Sat by stove all evening watching television.

    1. Paracetamol! It's helped me cope with a fever today and I've slept loads, hopefully fighting off this cold getting worse like the last couple of times (fingers and toes crossed).

    2. Sunshine :)

    3. The internet, for all those times when I can't think of what to put in a lesson plan....

    4. NSD/NPD

    5. Did a tiny bit more tidying up and found lots more useful things that had been missing under piles of stuff - DD's guitar tuner, some more bedding, a much-loved book of poetry that made our hearts sing to share again after 3 years of it languishing in a box :)

  • Good, I sea the Crabs are out. Rubs Tum!

Trenchard's Boys are 98 years old today!

5 Bet you did not know that! 2 to go to the centenary! Would had been better, but the fish heads went their separate way!

4 Interesting that on a day we consider our steel industry, the supplies of inferior steel elsewhere is probably not up to scratch! On occasions when I ventured from Fish Dock No:1 when I were a lad, and washed the paving sl;abs at mums house, we would pass through Scunthorpe pass the new Appleby Froddingham works. We need no more dereliction.

3 Well, had telephone interview yesterday, a day early. Phew, nearly blew it! Wait!

2 Love BMWs poster today. Baby Boots!

For the gals, they're also available in pink!

Oh, we are now seeing the colours of April spring through the air

    1. DH and I enjoyed a lazy and loungy day together.

    2. We had planned to go out, but traffic problems put pay to it so we relaxed on the sofa, watched a movie and snoozed.:)

    3. I just made a hm soup to use up everything, and it tasted like I need to practice more, it was ok but not great.:o

    4. Just hoovered and cleaned up the whole house for the weekend, now my motivation runs as far as running a bath and lounging some more..:p

    5. I didn’t touch a drop of inkaholic drink all through February and March, but tonight a little glass of baileys with ice will be appreciated.

Purple kitten - I haven't mastered hm soup yet - not the bung it all in and hope for the best bit anyway. I can follow a recipe very well, but as soon as I go off piste, things go t*ts up!

Pleasures for the past couple of days:

    1) Despite living in this area for 6 years, there were still some places (read: shops!) that I hadn't been to. I've begun to correct that by visiting a couple of farm shops in different areas over the past couple of days. They're out of my way, so not somewhere to shop all the time, but oh my those prices! FAR cheaper than supermarkets, locally reared meat, cheap eggs from happy hippy hens... You know the sort.

    2) Using some minced beef bought yesterday, I have made spag bol tonight. Padded out with loads of carrots, celery etc and with 250g of mince, I've made 6 portions! Also used leftover wine (I know... leftover wine???!). Four portions are now in the freezer for another day.

    3) Read more of my book. Must get it finished as I have a whole bookcase full of books waiting to be read... :o I love a good book. Really must read more then I can warrant supporting my local library, instead of hoarding unread books on my shelf...

    4) Went to a comedy night at a local pub. Three comedians for £7.50 - some better than others, obviously, but I love stand up.

    5) cat cuddles. :D

    Phew, what a day!

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went to talk assertively to the good people in Halifax (the bank, not the town) and was promised (again) things would be sorted out.

    3) Met my friend at midday. Not a pleasure in that illness/tablets struck and I had to stagger out of caf! for fresh air! We spent 2 hours chatting while I sat in my car.

    4) Sons appeared bearing a large black hen! Their father's neighbour suggested we have it as his other birds kept pecking it. So she is on her own at the moment, on the allotment. I hope she has worked out how to get into the sleeping end of the run as it is spotting with rain (if she can fit through the little door).

    5) Couldn't eat anything all day but then had ready meal moussaka for tea and it was very tasty.

    6) Watched television in front of the stove - Gogglebox and the Last Leg.

    7) In bed with 1hwb - I dropped the top off the other one and it pinged through the small gap between the washing machine and the fitted units and no one can reach it. Now Show on iplayer just now.

Hope you feel better soon Frith and Kittikins

    Some pleasures for yesterday,

A lie-in, couple of bad nights had left me a tad drained

Watching a hedge sparrow struggling manfully with a beak full of Rosie dog hair. Always push the left over hair into the hedge after she's been brushed, love the idea of baby birds growing up in such a cosy nest, her coat is so soft.

Getting jobs done and the satisfaction of ticking them off my list.

Had a £10 Mr Sparks voucher so loads of lovely veg, houmous etc for 22p. Am doing the BSD, the first two days were a bit difficult with headaches etc but am now in swing of things and love the food.

Went over to see my boy, he is shedding his coat like mad so spent good half hour grooming him. They are all now in the spring paddocks so sated on the new grass.
