    BoP Valentine's Night Live.

BoP is inn the Bridge, with BoPsie. The flower seller only has petals left. No need to rush out and buy the £50 bunch wrapped in newspaper.

If we wait another ten minutes or so, leftover heart biscuit covered inn chocolate will be available for peanuts.

Just checking on tiffs. More tomorrow.

Edit. BoPsie tells me we has discount card for heart shaped shortbreads. Bust. Not valid this weekend. Oh well. Anniversary soon and the cheap chocs.
  • VJsmum, The millionaires thing, I thought I found it faffy but I thought that was because I am not a natural baker. Cooked the shortbread wait for it to cool, make the caramel to the point it will set then wait for it to set, it did seem like a lot of “waiting”. It was cheap to make in terms of ingredients, but maybe because I’ve never made it before it did take time. We have just tried a bit, there is a lot of it and it is great, it tastes even better than the shop bought, for a first attempt I am very impressed. Note to self though next time take it out of the fridge well before slicing up as the caramel set to a hard chew. I love your number 10. by the way you sound very contented.

    1. Feeling achieved at the millionaires shortbread, it’s ridiculously good, maybe it’s worth the faff of making again.:o
    2. Enjoying good food today, grilled bacon sandwich, I’m making a full roast pork and trimmings, smells lovely cooking.
    3. I keep being distracted by all the movement in the garden bird everywhere.
    4. Quite engrossed by a Kate Atkinson book, nice to relax.
    5. They say it’s going to snow tonight, even in Kent, it would be lovely for the animals to see snow for their first times. Updated to ad it is now snowing....:rotfl:

    1. Mummykins is perky and fun and so much healthier than she's been in months! Okay, so she's non weight-bearing on her broken leg, and we have more medical equipment in the house than I've seen on Casualty, but it's so good to have her around making us all laugh :)

    2. I also watched Shetland yesterday, love it. It's so beautiful but looks pretty flipping cold....weak southerner here and proud ;)

    3. I'm still enjoying cooking - fab mushroom and bean curry and dhal tonight, nomnom.

    4. Getting bits of work done, not enough (as usual) but at least I'll have a week to feel like I'm on top of things for the start of term!

    5. Cuddles and silliness with DD :):):)

Monday : day off number 1/5 hoorah!

Rubbish sleep but woke up when OH's alarm went off...not mine!

Catch up with friend from home .

Booked a skip to come today....I am still waiting ! Got a 'courtesy call' about 3 hours ago to say they were running late...its now 5.50pm! Not impressed. Purpose of skip is to fling half the front garden into....as that what feels like has been chopped down. Son and daughter helped. ( bribed) but tall son is handy for high branches so worth the bribe! Hoping it looks better once it's in a skip as at the moment there are piles everywhere. Haggis was in his element today. Running in and out of bushes and dragging branches all over the garden.

Watched call the midwife with DD1 ....we were having a break!

Have made a chilli in the slow cooker. Smells nice. Hoping to use fridge/ freezer/ cupboards this week and only go for basics.

    Finished a library book.

Millionaire shortbread is called caramel slice out here, a young woman ( English) came in on Friday and asked for a piece of Millionaire shortbread ....I said, I know what you are talking about but no one else will. How long have you been here? ....one week!

    Have a good day !

Skint - have tried teaching MIL to send email and to text and to download books onto her kindle but have now given up with no success.

    1. Tidied the garden DH cut some branches down. They were quickly tidied by putting them over the fence for neighbour. He has a wood burning stove.

    2. Watching blackbirds in the garden and also seeing the robin again.

    3. Watched the rugby.

    4. Managed to finish the Christmas cake. It was good but will make a smaller one for this year unless DS2 is living at home!

    5. Early night and reading my book.

A thesis starts with the first words vjsmum and believe me, by year 3 your supervisors will be telling you to cut cos it will have grown like topsy
In bed with horrid cold. Have to go in later for mock viva. For yesterday
    1) stayed in bed all morning watching Shetland.
    2) there was some quinoa stew left so had half for breakfast and half for lunch. Very soothing on sore throat
    3) walked to Irish friend's for the rugby which English friend and I enjoyed enormously
    4) was on welcoming duty for evensnog as vestry member. We are applying for an eco grant and need 50 households to sign up before grant app goes in on Friday (been very short notice this one). Provost had managed 28 in the morning. I got it up to 42 so fingers crossed wth a little phoning round we'll get there.
    5) lift home from friend very welcome. Then bed with call the midwife (but sore throat sadly kept me awake).

Pleasures for today (so far). Terrible night's sleep after being woken by house phone ringing at quarter past 3. :-/ The answering machine message was a random very drunk man mumbling!

Frith - unfortunately my Gran who had alzheimers would randomly ring people in the night and mumble - its not good to be woken in the night by the phone such a worry and I felt terrible for the poor man she apparently once redialled 10 times in one night - shortly after that she went into a home and sadly she has passed away since then
Skint - have tried teaching MIL to send email and to text and to download books onto her kindle but have now given up with no success.

I think it was even harder as I was trying to help him over the phone 300 miles away ! Have told him to bring his laptop with him when he comes to visit at Easter !

    Warning
Please read the following communique from BoP before retiring.
It has come to the attention of BoP, that BoPsie, who normally just peeks in this parish, has registered for this nonsensical bored and has posted her thought at will. Please be careful when posting and talking about BoP, we cannot have her poking her nebby nose inn round this plaice!
    Communique ends.

5 Enough of that. Had a bonus up Hyde hill this frosty morn, a blue car of Germanic origan had the misfortune to hit a wall. Police were in attendance. The driver was thought to be safe. No children were involved. Hopefully the gendarmerie have torn up the licence!
    Degree of difficulty 3
    Technical Ability 1
    Artistic Impression 7
Not enough to win the car pirouette performance of the month, but a good attempt. BoP advises that BoPettes drive with care, and, of course, make room for BoP!

4 On the subject of driving, the Cash Register was out on the temporary bridge that was put jerry built. It has an enforced 30mph limit, so a nice earner! No incident has occurred there, apart from just past the bridge, on a island reserve, one or two minor knocks have happened. This bridge was ok for 60 mph since it was built in the 40's!

3 And relax. Just had proper orange crush, not that pasteurised carp from the chilled shelf in the emporium. Four oranges, squeezed. Dash of lemonade and a decent tart. Jam Tart that is. As you are aware, BoP is partial to a decent tart.

2 Night could be a live Scrabble night, as BoPsie, please be kind to her as she has registered for this bored, is only one win away from two on the bounce

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The bear has got away with it. If it was a drone, I am sure the Commissar would be asking questions.

    Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The Commissar remains silent!
Note: BoP's middle name is Squealer!

Skint - my grandma fell getting out of bed one night and managed to grab the phone wire and pull it down so she could reach it. She punched random numbers into the phone (she didn't have dementia at that point, but was blind) and some poor man answered in the middle of the night and was good enough to keep her talking, ask her address and name and call the police and ambulance.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A good sleep!

    2) Went to Worcester Woods to see my friend and her children.

    3) Dropped lots of books off at the charity shop for my brother.

    4) Went to Sutton Coldfield to get my ebay windows for the new porch - what a long drive! I went wrong at some point and the satnav sent me down tiny and picturesque lanes, somehow under the supports of the M6! The windows are great.

    5) Popped into Ikea on the way home for some new plates and a cushion cover.

    6) Went out for an Indian with my mum, dad and brother.

    7) Popped to see sons - they are coming home on Wednesday.

    8) In bed now with 2hwb and iplayer at the ready.
