5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Been busy this week with work.
1. DS1 has a new job - he had to attend 3 interviews and its a job with more money and better prospects and also better hours. I'm really pleased for him as he's worked really hard with his masters and working for the year before to pay for it.
2. Still being light when I leave work. It's seems to give me more energy.
3. House is fairly clean so won't take me long today to finish it and then more time for gardening or tottering in the greenhouse.
4. The window cleaner has just been. My windows are now clean. He comes every 2-3 months and they needed doing. Always nice having a chat with him.
5. Colleague at work looking better- she has been ill for some time and has began to get her sparkle back.
6. Seeing a little girl skipping along the road holding her mum's hand. She seemed so happy dressed up in wellies and bright blue coat.0 -
Aye playoffs are like an excuse for not winning! Donna want to get the BoP upset, he gets all his fur curled up!
Looking round the parish, good to see that people realise that emulsions are for walls, not for spreading on bread. Rubs Tum.
5 Had non chemical proper spread on toast this morning and one up and over that jimmy cook, Jam, Butter on toast! Rubs tum and you know you like it as well!
4 Not only that, but BoP partial to a decent tart, and had a Jam tart. more on that jimmy cook. Has he got new book out? Again rubs tum. Oh, and digestive biscuit. I note the emporiums are saying their stocks are low. Good.
3 Poor show at the cc last night. Speaker not very good. Had a wobbleade instead and a bit of non refrigerated cheese. Lovely and pure and cured. Another day and the crust will be foaming on it. You know it is good for you as BoP is still walking after 50 plus years! Just got snorker and best back out for the morning feast.
2 Night BoP will probably be allowed a Rita or Monroe to watch. Getting excitable already!
If we open a quarrel between past and present, we shall find that we have lost the future.

Again, a busy week, but quick list of as OS as I can get it:
1. Home made tortilla pizzas again, ooh, and pizza with friend.
2. Friend returned a dress and short sleeved jacket that she borrowed from me a few years ago. She had wanted to buy it from me at first, but I had it bought for me in the States and have never seen one like it over here. I only wear it during very warm summer days and was happy for her to have it as long as it was being used, but I'm pleased to have it again.
3. Have been given a virtually brand new quilt lined hi-viz rain jacket that will be great for triking. I currently wear a high viz elastic webbing harness but this tends to ride up a bit.
4. Triking was quite pleasant. Still need to check valve on tyre.
5. Chat and catch up with sis, who is in good form.
The rest not so OS, but have just received to review a set of maths problem logic cards that were so good, I've bought a second set.
The joys of all the little gadgets that make my life easier, too, counting my blessings.
A book too, that was wonderful, not available to buy yet, so will hold on to info on that one. About this time last year I got sent A Shepherd's Life
to review before it was released and that somewhat took off, I hope this one does too.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
1. Mummykins is home
2. Took DD to netball trainingLove having that time nattering in the car, watching her do things I could only dream of, and cuddles a-plenty!
3. Was paid a big compliment today by one of my class "Ms Kittikins, you're really fun when you're not shouting"
4. Had a fun afternoon, as the children had 'earned' a full hour's treat time. Taught some of the children how to play a few card games, including a maths/solitaire game and snap as a few had never played with a deck of cards before. One of my most tricky boys taught us how to play Blind DogI think a game club might be (excuse the pun) on the cards next year, as they really enjoyed sitting around chatting, helping each other and being competitive.
5. Hooray, it's half term0 -

There have been moments which brain self-stamped as osps, but & has not been putah-ing as all is most most sl-o-o-o-o-w, if whirring, starting and circling at all.
Haven't the hours to sit waiting on off-chance.
What's here now has arisen on the scum principle, with loads of goodies at bottom left unstirred.

1. Ghastliness of failed attempt to join M11 for Spitalfields before 3am yesterday. Roadworks, blocked accesses, +80 miles N and NW driven before circling back, following yellow/black diversion signs all the way, permitted access only at Bishops Stortford, by which time it was past 6am and sign read LONDON 31MILES[still]. No way could I be unloaded, parked in Brick Lane, then inside awaiting stall 'off' by 6. Had then to find/take whatever slip road came next to ring M and advise no-show. Absolutely infuriating. Another 11 miles>sign for Hastingfield village, pulled in to phone and saw I was outside St Clare's Hospice. Pause for thought.... So, long eventual meander back to &squat and forced self to unload again, rictus stoic. Yes, 1st world problems and helped off-set petrol loss with private sale of rare Anton Lang Oberammergau Madonna and unexpected find late this arvo of £40, which must have been in an unused poacher's pouch for well over a year now.
& can survive. Others can't.
2. rtc emporium gammon joint bedding in s/c o/n as we speak. Dark brown sugar coat, chucked in with leeks, celery, bay leaves, carrots, and an odd bot. to bathe in - ginger beer+Famous Grouse, freebie from Glasgow vs Toulon a couple of years ago. Seem to have a half-dozen to use up.
Definitely an On Verra.
3. Marvellous cache[about 30 pces] of 1930s Worcester tinware last Mon, various extreme states of debilitation, even within the Shabby Chic demotic:-) Spitalfields was to judge...oh well, next week.
e.g. one like this, but original, untouched, red lids+lettering:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-WORCESTER-WARE-STORAGE-TINS-X4-ORIGINAL-SHELF
Fun find - 1976 intereurope car manual with Luca Cumani's paid bills inside, showing car bought at same time as Bedford Lodge stables in town of horse. He's still there:-)
4. Crocheted wool on hand - claret, navy, white - now cowl scarf in rugby club colours. Finished early am, gently washed and airing now in hw cupboard, ready for next cathartic employ. Great beginnings of 6N last w/e. As earlier reported, & wins every match in her uniquely linked NZ-web capacity. France must get better. Albion was. Wales and Ireland nails were chewed right down in The Alma. Scotland came up slightly short. Italy were fantastic, but for Captain's failed curtain call. Fantastic start all round. esp. as benevolently surveyed by AB&, World Champion[retained]
5. & somewhat similar, dd, re: Lent, but 2 things suddenly fell clear and they're right for &. Also giving thanks for a breakthrough with someone last Mon.
6. Have em'd an intention/hope which may be possible. Up to & now and wild London spendthrifts, j'espère.
7. College Salon+debadgered & mutually most gratified this week.
8. Have loved new Forsyte Saga on r4x and The Honorary Consul recently.

9. Saffers beat albion with rhubarb and mother boycott's pinny - close run thing and all is thus set for splendid finale demain, at deux partout.

Week 1 is done, Lainey. Sounds fair going thus far. Bringing order from chaos is always gratifying and dazzles line mgrs :-) They will be loving you already.
Frith - can't decide which way you mean this one:
'Work has been worse.'
dd - very well done. no.1 It's very very hard and there's no 'Best Before' date for this stage. re: hurrchhhrrrs. Yes, yes, I know........all agreed, but not what & needs at her shutdown stage of shucking off day which can be full of others' cack. Have just turned Archers calendar to Feb and, following this 'For years, Lynda has been the Marmite of Ambridge...' the whole section is about RT, inc this quote from grauniad's marvellous Nancy Banks-Smith: 'Helen, who has the incisive intellect of a marsupial, is fatally attracted to bounders.' Timothy Watson, The Hacktor, is pictured below said column.
& pronounces.
He IS RT.
Left them all to it ce soir, the moment Newds Quids was over and the call of Mr T's £4 big plastic lidded crates meant Leave Car At Once. Last 3 seized.

Rumpole's just begun on r4x. hwb is on heat. 30 jars of marmalade were delivered to Vicarage, with relief - have frozen the other 40-odd sevilles for later transformings. 2 sorts done - dark with demerara and Famous Grouse[won in Chuch raffle 2 crimbo's since, so seemed meet and right]; with chopped crystallised ginger.

Sigh!
A day spent at A&E with OH , complication from last weeks surgery , had a bit of a wait as they were very busy , there were a lot of odd characters, I was prepared and took a new library book and almost finished it.
I was at work when OH called me and was able to leave straight away.
Anyway , home now and to return on Tuesday.
Went into city On Thursday ( for early hospital appointment) and I popped into cathedral for some thanks and some quietness .
Have signed up to do a fun run (walk) to raise funds for hospital. It's in 3 weeks time. Have been delighted at people's generosity so far.
I now only have one day to work then off for 5 ( on for 2 then off for another 5) 8 hours...I can do it!
Hope you all have a good weekend .0 -
KK pleased your mum is now home.
Mhags hope Mr Mhags is recovering well and doesn't need any more A&E visits.
1. Picked daffodils yesterday and sitting here looking at them. They do brighten the room.
2. DS1 came round briefly after work to give us more details about his new job. He was very excited about it. When he gave his notice in he was asked whether there was anything the company could do to keep him. That gave his confidence a boost but his present company couldn't get close to his new salary.
3. Enjoying watching the rugby on tv with a glass of wine. DH managed to watch it without keeping changing channels - always an advantage.
4. Collected a parcel from PO - the local one is a 'main' sorting office. It's a tiny village PO which closes for lunch and on Wednesday afternoon. Always nice having a chat there with the staff and it is the central of the village.
5. Tea of chicken and chorizo with roasted veg. Managed to use up some veg which had seen better days! It was tasty and DS1 managed to eat some before he went home for tea.0
