1) had hoped for a nsd but first an envelope came round for someone leaving, then the £3 due for the tea club (i run a monthly club as much cheaper to get in tea / coffee / milk than stump up £1 a go)
2) coop card finally arrived with 2 vouchers for £2 off if i spend £10. but they were dated expire 4/2/16 (!). still, don't usually spend £10 at coop in one go so my son would tell me to look on it as saving £16 rather than saving £4
3) hm lunch - bean stew made with all the left over dried beans / lentils. very tasty, and loads left
4) despite finishing at 8 and really tempted by bus, walked home, saving bus fare, so apart from 1 no more pennies spent.
5) found my reward in the cupboard - some borders ginger chocolate biccies left over from new years. washed down with cloudy lemonade in a posh wine glass, so another nadMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

BoP - like DD i often find your words very profound
McC - nice to see you back
DD - amazing how much of our days is about when, where and how much coffee / tea we can get :rotfl: And well done on the NAD's. Now that "dry(ish) January" is done I can drink again. Typically i now don't want to and haven't had any alcohol yet in Feb.Probably change that tonight though.
Frith - hope your extra Friday goes OK
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Really getting stuck in to the reading and lit review. Trying to get my head round it all and overcoming the "OMG, this is MASSIVE" panic that i had. I am trying to introduce 10 mins meditation daily, but i have to build up to it, and hopefully that will help with these panics (note: I am not making light of panic attacks, which i have had (and still have occasionally) this was just a "standing at the foot of a mountain" moment)
2. Smorgasboard of odds and sods for lunch, bit of charcuterie, bit of cheese, bit of hummus, few olives, couple of toms - using bits up
3. John Finnemore's souvenir programme while ironing - ironing is only a pleasure when it's done - a couple of the JF sketches we saw / heard being recorded, so some of the laughter is me and DD :T
4. MiL now well enough to feel sorry for herself. She has gone into full martyr "i will never drive again" " I won't be able to go home" when, in fact, there is no reason to suggest that this will be so.
5. Jericho and knitting. Jericho is rather badly acted and worse scripted (or is that the other way round) but has a pretty man and is easy watching. Now finished the four bits of my jumper so just the making up and neckband to do.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

5 Catched the BoPsie on the sclaes this morning. I tipped toed the back and added more than a couple of pounds. Ooops, the look on the face, errors came up on the scales and we had a battery change. See above. BoP is inn the Bridge. Tea is not being served!
4 Oh well, did the pancakes and now for the editing. later this weekend, yous be able to see BoP tossing. Oh yeah. And I bet you cannot wait for that. The pancaqkes were nice, more later.
3 Last eve we watched a western, and it has some right dastardly people in it. And some rye, glasses and a few ruffians. Lucky though, the good guy won.
2 Night is another film night and I think a Rita is on the way. Just looking in the flick prime apps for the best one.
Having tossed out food parcels while being shot at in 1984, before the Buerke and the second list b side artists were interested, the UN failed! The only people on the ground we Medicene sans frontier.
Flying from Cyprus, another country the UN failed!
Good to see they are at last on top of things!
The rabbit is free to go. I don't think he wants to?0 -
Very briefly from Saturday morning. I think I've just had the worst sleep in a very long time ( which is saying something as I don't sleep well generally....can always fall asleep but very rarely sleep a full night)
Surgery for OH went well as far as docs concerned but more required than even they thought so what turned from a day case became an overnight case and a bed required.....there was no bed! I worked ( badly! .....no attention span...if it could be dropped , bumped into , forgotten , it was) ,
Straight to city on train after work thinking I was picking him up as this is what we had been led to believe.
Phone call from very nice nurse whilst on train to say he'd came through op ok, but that they were needing a bed etc, I said I was on my way and should be there in half an hour.no mention of what was to happen.
Got there and was told I couldn't see him as he didn't have a bed. I couldn't get to see him until he had a bed and he wasn't expected to get a bed until later at night as there were no beds. Told this by receptionist, just passing on the message. Gutted! Then about 15 minutes later a nurse came out to tell me he was doing okay but repeated all the bed stuff. Could I not just sit with him quietly? No, sorry. So I did what any other ( I'm, sure) hormonal , upset, worried person would do and burst into tears!
I just couldn't beiieve after all we've been through that I wasn't allowed just to sit with him. So at this point I just had to sit in the waiting area , sobbed quietly and waited about half an hour. Then , I was approached very quietly and told I was being allowed 10 minutes only with him. Had to leave my bag in an office and was escorted into the very bowels of the operating suites, with everybody doing a double take that a non staff employee was there. Anyway, saw him ( promptly burst into tears again!) and we sat very quietly for 10 mins then I was escorted back off the premises! So my pleasure of the day was seeing him. I do appreciate that rules are rules but I'm glad this one was made an exception for me.
As it was he didn't get a bed until evening time so I would have been sat waiting for 4 hours. But instead caught a crowded tram, got a seat on a very crowded train , ( smiled inwardly as the man opposite made call after call and one of them was to a woman on the same train!) , bought my weekly bunch of flowers at local florists, popped into DD1's work to let her know how her dad was, came home and had a much needed shower.
Then went with DD2 to work night out for pizza, spending our tips on meal ( and other peoples expensive bottles of wine...little grrrrr at that one ) , the usual louder members of team were loud and the quieter ones quiet....I'm somewhere in between! Main colleague managed to drop a full glass of wine on table which smashed everywhere, dripping wine all over the table, on the floor etc but was too !!!!ed to care! Fabulous! Came home with the box of leftovers !
Had a message that a friend's mum had died, so managed to give her a call before bed . The pleasure being having a quick chat with her meant a lot to her and her elderly mum is no longer suffering. Still sad but glad I got to speak with her.
Better get to work.....I managed to get someone in to cover for me from 11am then I will go to hospital and hopefully pick up my husband and bring him home to recover.0 -

1. The NHS (again!) My dad has now had an accident on his ankle, yup, what with mummykins and now him, you couldn't make my life up at the moment! Anyway, it looks like it's "just" a chipped bone but he'll be back up at the hospital at the crack of dawn to have it assessed properly to see what the ongoing treatment will be.
2. The lovely teenagers in the village who run a dog walking service - doggykins is going to have a couple of lovely long walks this weekend
3. DD - who, after I told her about her granddad, needed a massive hug. Poor little kittie. She's taking a lot in at the mo xxx
4. TGIF - even though I've had the whole week off school sick, I've still worked blooming hard! I've had to sort out alternative lesson plans , as for lots of reasons some of the ones already planned wouldn't have been suitable without me there, and that took time, which is hard when you've got a fever and can't see for coughing. So, I deserve the weekend too!
5. DD's netball coaches, who are all lovely ladies and give up so much time to turn the girls into amazing, confident, happy sportswomen
6. My friend N, who came over to give me a hug and cheer me up yesterday when I was feeling pretty blue about life. Bless her cotton socks!
