Evening
Bit of a shocker on first day of student ship, no not just lack of Jeremy Kyle or pot noodle. Phone rings at 7 o'clock. 7 o'clock in the morning phone calls are never good news are they? MiL been taken into hospital
. She was put on new diuretics and they've worked too well and put all her electrolytes out. At 84 it becomes even more serious. Think it's called hypernatremia She is staying in for a while so they can stabilise her, but hopefully not too much to worry about.
So what wee the pleasures
1 stopping myself from sending in an email to old work at 9 o'clock fussing over a module I am delivering tomorrow. Not a good way to start your new "job". I am glad I am doing tomorrow cos now I know I really don't want to do it
2 reading a PhD thesis on a similar subject and realising that I can do it :T - and spotting both a spelling mistake and some bad grammar
3 coffee with friend - well I am a student
4 a bath. See 3
5 organising my workspace, although today I have mostly eat in the lounge and read and read and read.
Nighty nightI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Vjsmum Glad it's going well and I hope MIL recovers soon.
1. I deep cleaned the fridge everything out washed, disinfected, the shelves and inside. It took a while and I was doing it remembering watching a hoarder programme recently where one of the manic cleaners said they cleaned their fridge, properly every single day. 90mins later I certainly didn’t believe them..:p
2. Tuna and noodles for lunch, and ham and egg salad with hot new pots for tea, the pleasure being having time to plan.
3. The animals helping me with absolutely everything, it may take longer but its great fun and laughter.:D
4. Popped to L*dl and only bought bread, milk and oranges, though I was sorely tempted by the lean mean grilling machine but resisted. Spend was a few pounds.:T0 -
This is Henry, is it, Skint? I'm not enjoying him, whatever his name is! Worse than Frank! Next door's roof has a hole in from the last storm with a bit of plastic shoved in it, so we'll see what that looks like tomorrow. :-/
I had a fridge clean at the weekend, PK.
My brother used to eat ham and jam sandwiches, BoP.
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep. Better than it will be with everything blowing about and the wind howling tonight!
2) Nearly had to take a lesson at work. :-/ Was randomly given the lesson plan in the staff room and told where to meet the class. So I let them in (still hoping someone else would turn up!) and they sat very quietly, looking at me. I got halfway through telling them what to do then a teacher appeared. GCSE music so I would have had a bit of a clue, but rather a shock.
3) Went swimming with sons and my brother. 25 lengths today.
4) A nice tea of pizza and roasted vegetables. I finished off the can of anchovies that I put on the pizza (had a bit of a craving for them) and am now all fat and have had to drink pints of water! An excess of salt, I suppose.
5) Did some ironing. First time this year.
Looking forward to tomorrow. Son's statement review a.m so I miss a few hours of work. As I have very few times with just one son, we will of course be stopping at train town on the way to his school for a breakfast on the riverside!0 -
Good evening! We started off cool and foggy and now a rather warm 31o....I'm slightly more than over it!
day off number 1.... Of course I woke up at silly o'clock and got up and pottered.
Ironing done , so many blooming loads of washing done. Seems I'm the only one who knows how to use the machine....'but you never said!' Everyone has been told to take it as read that there is at least one load of washing a day ....that needs either switched on or even switched on and then hung out! I know.....radical!
Had a wander round the op shops. In the smelly one I bought a lovely crocheted blanket , I always keep an eye out for them so was delighted to find it and only $5 , handy for cooler evenings I'm hoping are just round the corner. Also a pair of red sandals of the comfortable variety....$4 and a nice light & floral scarf for $2. I felt yesterday it was a wee bit chilly when I was walking to train station and could have done with a scarf!
Then in Red Cross which tends to be the most expensive ,2 nice shirts and then a wee pop in to salvos and a skirt that I'd hummed and hawed over on Friday was still there and even better half price! All washed and out on line at the moment.
Really quite a lazy day and mooched around watching telly whilst pottering around.
Bathrooms cleaned ....they were rather skanky!
Rtc steak cooking in slow cooker to be transformed into steak pie, also having Yorkshire puds.
And that was day off number one. Have a good Tuesday0 -
Some pleasures for the last couple of days,
Sitting with my Mum doing the birdwatch, am lucky living in rural location that we see quite a variety, even the woodpecker put in an appearance as if he knew that needed to be counted
Was really pleased with the recipe had chosen for Sunday lunch, quick, easy but so tasty.
Ooh, I do live Vera as well, BB is brilliant and the locations at times stunning.
The dogs love having their "Grandma" to stay, they constantly bring her their toys and sit at her feet just gazing adoringly, the big one goes into a real blue funk when she goes home.
So many snowdrops are now up, under the trees, real sign that winter is turning so Happy Imbolc to all.0
