MRS M go for what they call 'BUSH TREES' which are on a slightly dwarf rootstock and they will not get more than about 10 feet high and if you prune then every autumn you'll keep them in check!
1) Lovely soup for lunch from things I had in the fridge and storecupboard, just the ticket for a cold damp January day!
2)Sitting by the woodstove after walking the hound and waking up 45 minutes later to a lovely cuppa He Who Knows made me.
3) A piece of Christmas cake to go with it!
4) Planning a couple of breaks for this coming year, we fancy some country shows and are looking to book hotels for a couple of days for those we've chosen to go to.
5) Good rugby on the telly Doncaster vs Rotherham and a very watchable match it is too!0 -

Pleasures for today before sons get home.
1) A lie in!
2) A good spring clean - floors steamed, washing done, bookshelf emptied (major job) and cleaned. One bag of books for small niece, one for the charity shops.
3) 30 mins Wii fit whilst watching Holby City. Am now 12 stones 13 so 13lbs lost this year and nice to break the 13 stones barrier!
4) Popped to Sainsburys as we were down to a bit of milk and 3 avocadoes in the fridge.
5) Looking forward to sons coming home then we shall be going swimming.0 -
Dundee jealous of you watching rugby next week.
Had a trip to Newcastle to watch the rugby. Wished I hadn't as we lost and should have played better. At least with free train travel the journey was free. I had taken some food so very little spent.
DS2 came he had visited a friend first and spent the weekend and so was feeling hungover.
Spent time in the garden on Saturday in the sun and did loads of work. The chickens still love helping me.0 -
Blimey AWOL for nearly s week.
Well done on the weight losss frith
On train coming back from dads and just had dinner with my girl in London
Pleasures for last 6 (six:eek:) days
1 the job has gone. :T. Well kinda. I am doing a module for two weeks and have some marking to finish but my new adventure starts tomorrow. Everyone has been so kind with lovely words and a lovely card and a generous voucher.
2 biggest pleasure job wise was an empty in box (sorry DD)
3 two workshop days for PhD. Some bits were dull, some bits were brilliant but at least I have a starting point tomorrow
4 good trains to London and back, brakfast and one dinner included..
5 a glimpse of light in the sky when walking down for the 7.15 train
6 January is over :T
7 two stray daffs in my garden, full bloom. No idea how they got there
8 dad was very bright. there'd been a row with the brothers girlfriend and I actually heard him (dad) apologise. This, ladies and BoP, is a first
9 dinner with my girl in London
10, my hangover from Friday only lasted one day :rotfl:
So let it begin.....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Catching up as not been around - poorly again!!! Not liking the fact I have had more than one episode of nasty bugs this winter - cant shake this one either - no time to be sick!!! But pleasures for the weekend:
1. meal planning and shopping done on Sat - new guilty pleasure - toast and coffee out before shopping (makes me leave house without putting coffee on and settling in front of Yorkshire chef!!!) - £3 but worth it to get me out and shopping done by 10!
2. made cake for friends Birthday - was lovely!!! Victoria sponge but with strawberries and crème fraiche in the middle!
3. Out for friends birthday on Sat night - great food and company!
4. Short doggy walk in the rain this morning but spotted snow drops - I'm sure we are going to be in for a cold snap but cant help wanting it to be spring!
5. Treated to lunch out - not doing well with the diet - but was lovely!!!0 -
DD I've just dug out an SW book and been given another by a neighbour, but no mushy pea curry recipes in them.
1. A friend has sold me her vibrating plate for £50. My sitting room looks like a gym with that, the treadmill, step and weights. Unlike my friend I do use them all, very conscious of looking like a ball. Round is a shape, or so they tell me, just not the one I want to be
2. Cleared out under the stairs, three boxes of books and one of video's which all have personal things on so will look into cost of having them put on cd's. Also found an old laptop and a cone collar - so that's where it went!
3. Friends at a convention in Lanzarote have sent a text to tell me it's ideal for me, with no hills and its own beach, so I may just go next year. This year booked for IoW, Blackpool, Birmingham and Torrevieja so far, we're so fortunate to get reduced rates for full board wherever we go. I also get to see my son and family in Preston when I go to Blackpool which is a big bonus.
4. Countryfile, Call the Midwife and Vera made my television licence fee worthwhile for a change
5. A barrister friend countersigned my passport renewal application form. I could have asked my GP but it would have cost £25. He was very happy with a coffee and slice of coffee cake in the local tearoom.
Sweet dreams0 -
BOP: That made me reminisce butterscotch Angel Delight oh I may have to pick on up in the shop this week.
1. Last night we had nacho’s as the weekend treat and they were delicious, and todays brekkie was a lovely grilled bacon sandwich, I’m working on the principle of eating less rather than not eating.:o
2. Guilty pleasure of watching the Simpsons, before I set to properly cleaning the house, starting on the surfaces hoovered top to bottom and mopped the downstairs floors, cleaned the windows and mirrors with distilled vinegar.:)
3. So many birds in the garden it’s lovely to see, woodpecker, dunnet, robin, long tailed and blue ones.
4. Cantonese chicken, ginger, onions, peppers chopped Chinese leaf cabbage and rice for dinner.:)
5. Animal snuggles.0 -
I do believe I'm now in my days off! Hurrah!
So some pleasures:
Up at ridiculously early o'clock but got up , checked the tennis results ( sigh:() and called friend from home and had a good chat with her.
Walked up to train station, the most beautiful sunrise. It seems like a while since I've got the train but enjoyed the walk there and said good morning to the magpies. Caught an earlier train and didn't get my normal seat ( might not be my seat anymore!) but on and off before 7am so free.
Work, well it was a tad crazy at times as it can be but was doable . We have a newish lady in the kitchen and I can't fathom her out. Sometimes very friendly , sometimes not so much and today was almost silent. I don't know! She doesn't like others in the kitchen ( which is tiny) will tell them / me to please leave but we work as a team and we all do dishes / take dirty ones in/ take clean ones out but she seems to be unhappy when we are there but its as much our duty to be in there as hers. She told me last week to stop staring.....I really am not love I'm just trying to run a cafe out front and need to know when the food's coming out! So I've been a bit perplexed and a tad kerfuffled by her attitude but decided to let it go, it's her rather than me. Then today she hardly spoke to me or main colleague unless she had to.....anyway, it's my days off so I shan't worry about it !
2 minutes to wait for a train home, read a lovely email from a friend on way home and have replied.
Home .....aaaah! DD1 chatting amiably about her morning at work and then later DD2 ranting about school already! It's day 2!
Husbandly person is making spag Bol for tea.
Do have a good day whatever you're up to0 -
Ladies and BoP! Singled out for fortune and fame! Oh, and your back then VJsMum!
5 Now where was I. Oh yes, gloating. Well we had no landers in the great sparrarhawk count. Does it count if we have a trained killer in the house? Raffles, was delighted with the buzzard yesterday, and has just got his paws on the wings! Feeling good.
4 Now that leads to a dilemma for BoP. Should I do the curry this evening, or fester for a day. Choices, like it is now or later. I am a now person. Rubs Tum. It shall be done with home made egg fried rice. None of that benny carp here.
3 New jar of Raspberry Jam is being readied for morning toast. Should be cracked by Friday. Rubs Tum
2 Night is quiz night as BoP goes head to head with BoPsie in Uni Challenge.
You only put people in pigeon holes, so the comptroller can abuse them!Purple_kitten wrote: »BOP: That made me reminisce butterscotch Angel Delight oh I may have to pick on up in the shop this week.0
