Good evening it's Friday !!!!!!ay. We have just had the most amazing storm , massive thunder and lightning storm that started when I was out and about in our little town , I got soaked so I'm in my jammies!
DS was out cycling and got in at same time as me, I came in front door and he was wringing out his socks at the back porch! Soaked!
Our last dog was always a nervous wreck whenever it was a storm but Haggis only jumped once when a huge and very noisy thunderclap was right above the house .
Work was okay , 3 down and 3 more to go. Home with some almost past there best rocky road slices. Still taste okay ( I may have had one! )
Popped over to salvos and came away with a pair of new to me sandals ...of the comfort over beauty variety....but they fit, they don't seem worn, they've had a swipe with anti bac spray and they retail at $170 new. A brand new UK 'warehouse ' tunic dress, a nice top and a pair of 3/4 trousers . I'm looking forward to wearing them.
Lovely bunch of flowers bought for me by me, my weekly treat to myself.
DD2 went back to school ( poor things all in the pouring rain today) I think it's the first , first back to school day I've not been there to see her...she sent me a selfie! That had to do! Already had to send a few emails about a few things and all dealt with nice and quickly. Love that school!
Do have a lovely Friday , hope your mum and dad have fun Mrs White hoping that the days of intense heat are over ( wishful thinking)0 -
Some pleasures for the last couple of days,
Clipping off equine pal's chest and making him more comfortable in this weird, mild weather. Pleasure was, BOP close your ears, getting that stray horse hair out of my bra where it had lodged:)
Celebratory meal out with Captain Scarlet at lovely village pub, Ampersand think three baked birds at WD, lovely food served on proper China plates with linen napkins, superb.
Drive to Cambridge yesterday in the sunshine, had my hair cut and coloured so now feel smarter ahead of job start. By the time I came out it was 3.30 and starving as no lunch, pleasure was popping in to Bo*ts and finding JO wrap reduced to £1 from £3.80.
Climbing into freshly laundered sheets last night, warmed by a hwb and reading into early hours, so cosy with the wind whistling round the house.
PK I too enjoyed the programme re Sir N Winton, to think he didn't even tell his wife of his achievements until she found that scrapbook, amazing human being.
VJsMum yay for last day at work, what a new adventure :j
KK any chance I can join lesson for Monday, dinosaur perimeter investigation, wow.0 -
1) It's Zebras second birthday today!
2) It's Pushycats third birthday today!
3) The very large mug of tea I've just had after having to fast for a blood test since supper last night, somehow a cup of hot water for breakfast seems most insubstantial!
4) YS trout fillets found in W8rose this morning at a very acceptable price.
5) Death in Paradise on the TV last night, very lightweight but most enjoyable.0 -
thoughts with you mrsm my cousin has also been recently diagnosed with cancer. he is 2 years my junior :-(
1) first meeting yesterday was 10am allowing me to grab paracetamol and crawl back to bed for a couple of hours
2) first meeting was with colleague I'd been out celebrating with, so she made it in 10:10 lol but we had a very productive meeting and both feeling very excited about our TEL module
3) lunchtime seminar so didn't get fresh air again till 3:15. had nice brisk walk exploring an area which may potentially be where I move to
4) gbf picked me up at 5:15. we parked the very last free spot before parking charges (which would have been £2.10)
5) supper (which I paid for) followed by NT les liaisons dangereuses (which he paid for, I got the better deal but I did save him parking) which was absolutely fab. Gets up, off floor, looks out of window. Yellow thing not there, it's winter, never, and it is raining. Weather apps are competing for strongest winds and highest panic level. BoP now interrupts for the could not care less.
5 There will be about a quarter of an inch of rain over the next few hours. If it reaches BoP's pad, then we shall witness the second coming. Nothing to see here, move on.
4 Yes, BoP won at Scrabble, but cannot believe I had three 7 letterers, two on the bounce, a double treble word, but not only that, if he had not played windy earl;y in the game, he could had laid three 7 letterers on the trot, BISCUITS, DEVIATES, and then LOUNGERS!
3 BoP lost at backgammon! Move along the buses.
2 Night is a MM film night, and lots of cuddles etc on sofa of BoP. As for the weather, Raffles is still out, so it is not that bad.
Weather is the bad of times, it will still be sunny in the morning0 -
Mrs LW: I love the easy watching of Death in Paradise.
1. A trip to Lidl as DH wanted their glue from Mondays offers and they still had some. He also asked for a Tex Mex Saturday so we picked up some bits for that. I also found a 1kg cook in the bag pork joint with 30% off which is now cooking in the bag as I type and should last a few pork and pickle sarnies as well:D
2. Anticipating being in for the rest of the day as the traffic out there is dafter than normal.:o
3. I did my weigh in and I am surprised, I’ve lost 3lb this week. I do feel like I have become a little obsessed with watching the food so trying to control it.:T
4. Cleaned, hoovered, turned the mattress and new bedding put on, that I am counting towards my exercise.:o
5. Re stocked all of the bird feeders, and most of the birds soon returned.
6. DH is starting on a turmeric / curcumin course to treat arthritis pain from today, I have everything crossed it provides some relief for him.
7. I moved money around to pay bills due and budget.
8. Tonight’s food will be sliced pork, mashed pots, carrots and sprouts. With HM some apple sauce from the freezer.:)0 -
PurpleKitten - well done! I have also lost 3lbs this week (after a disappointing fortnight).
Pleasures for today:
1) Dad going on OK after getting shot whilst beating yesterday :-/ I must add he was hit long distance and in one hand!
2) Slightly better day at work.
3) 3rd load of washing on so should be all tidy by the end of the weekend.
4) Made fish pie for tea which was the best thing I have cooked for ages!
5) Went swimming with sons.
6) Really enjoyed the Last Leg in Australia.
7) Have lost 3lbs making a loss of 11lbs so far this year.
That's about it!0 -
DFV they were mushy peas with mint sauce <shudder> on a meat pie called Cornish. I expected it to be like a pasty but it was a slice of pie made with corned beef. Hate to say it tasted as horrible as it sounds but the locals loved it _pale_
1. Super haul from Mr M's 9p ys's - fruit, veg, bread, naans, wraps, yogurt, Stilton, breast of lamb, 2 packs of cod fillets, 2 hake fillets and a box of 4 chocolate cream eclairs - all shared with neighbour. Had to rearrange the freezer to get my share in, I shan't go hungry if I'm snowed in for a month!
2. Bought 2 coats the same style but different sizes via mail order for last weekend's wedding, kept one and mailed the company to say I was going to send the bigger one back but they mailed back to say don't bother as I could keep it, and they refunded my money. Wrote to query it and they confirmed they didn't want it back. Very odd. It will make a nice gift for one of the family
3. Joined a fitness class three weeks ago, 3lb weight loss to date which considering last weekend isn't too bad. I hardly dare say the exercises are done on a vibrating machine, it took some getting used to!
4. Collected a Victorian jelly mould, which is now on the dresser with several others, from a local lady via freecycle.
5. Back to back Mock the Week, which is why I'm up so late...
Sweet dreams0 -
Had a lovely trip to Montpellier last weekend to watch rugby. The weekend was enjoyable and Montpellier is a lovely city but the rugby was terrible. The Saturday was warm and sunny which was much needed after the wet weather here
Spent most evenings this week proofreading DS1 thesis for his masters. It seems good to me but I didn't understand most of it.
Had a takeaway on Thursday and with enough leftover for lunch and tea yesterday and so wasn't that expensive and it tasted good.
Received long text from friend and it was lovely hearing from her.
Leaving work in the light and a beautiful sunset on Thursday.0 -
