sparrer take it easy missus! Was going to out a shout out for you so I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and getting out and about.

Well, one is now on ones days off...all three of them.

Train to work, read the supermarkets free magazine en route.

Endured a shift with poop head man, he was barely talking to me but I was consistent with my cheeriness :) , which probably annoyed him even more. One more shift to work with him and then he's offski. Very busy morning and very busy late lunch. I baked in the inbetween bits.

Very hot day , after such a chilly start, everyone was wrapped up for winter as we waited for the train knowing it would be mid 30's on way home.

Having a bit of a storm at the moment.

Did a bit of furniture shuffling as I'm preparing for the most wonderful time of year .

Bought a beautiful bunch of peonies at local florist and got 20% off. Last day of our little towns voucher offers.

Have hung up my Christmas advent 'bags ! Which are all numbered . Day 1's is filled , only do one at a time ...1. Things melt in the heat as I discovered the first year we were here and 2. We have a dog!

Only 3 more days till my first baby flies the nest. :(

    Have a lovely Monday
  • 1) Wonderful blustery walk with Cookie this afternoon, warm wind and leaves blowing about everywhere, was so much fun.

    2) As we turned the corner on the the road in the village in the car this morning we passed what had been an empty field.....and it was full of beautiful black faced sheep, we don't have much by way of livestocks in this neck of the woods, we both squealed at the same time, so silly but so nice!

    3) On my dog walk this afternoon I saw a lady out with her dog who I've passed most days since we got Docky 12 years ago, she has a very old greyhound and previously had a Leonburger who didn't like Docky at all, so I kept a distance and she never spoke or made eye contact until today! She called out 'can I come over and talk to you?' and it turns out that the Leonburger didn't like many dogs and she was afraid everyone would say she was a nasty dog. She lost that one a year ago and now has a new Leonburger pup who at 8 months old is starting to bark at other dogs and be very noisy and boisterous. She said would I mind if she walked the pup on the other side of the road and would I mind if she barked? hoped that Cookie would get the pup used to other dogs, and please would I tell my dog owner friends what to expect and that pup is just noisy not nasty, bless her, so I said of course I will and I'll look out for her as I go past the farm where she lives every day, nice to have finally met her!

    4) Met my brother on the way home from dropping Cookie off at her home and walked to my home with him, nice to chat.

    5) Just cleared DD2s wardrobe having established yesterday what she wanted to keep and what could go to the clothing bank and have just cleared DD1s wardrobe prior to getting it out of the bedroom to make way for Zebras cot over Christmas, what a lot of things I found at the back of shelves, good job well done!

    Pleasures for today (still Monday!)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons off to school OK.

    3) Quiet day today as it was a sports trip away day for a few pupils.

    4) Was given a task to simplify by the history teacher. The real task was quite a complex comparison of 2 "royal progresses" made by Elizabeth I. Bit hard for some so I wrote a few paragraphs and left gaps for them to fill in. Handed it back to history teacher and he looked a little surprised and said, "Oh, you have learned a lot in these lessons!" At some point I will have to tell him of my murky past including those 10 years as a museum curator ;-)

    5) Had a tonne of logs delivered and brother came up to help me stack them (I have to wheelbarrow them round the back of the house).

    6) Randomly, my mortgage company sent me all the deeds for the house going back 50+ years. Seems they aren't going to store them for anyone anymore. I've been engrossed looking through them! One unlucky couple paid more for this house in 1988 than I did in 1999. And were then repossessed and the house bought for next to nothing 2 years later. Also the plans were included of the ridiculously shoddy "improvements" done in about 1980 which have taken me over a decade to put right...

    7) Tried yet again to sort out my new mortgage. Old solicitor has destroyed all my paperwork. Court want £55 just to look for the financial order of my divorce. Building society solicitors say old solicitor can't amend the fault of the title deeds (though it was her mistake) and I have to appoint a new solicitor to do that. Sigh.

    8) Cleaning started for the visit by the lady from the kennels! Just the living room done so far, but done properly, even moving the piano to steam clean the floor under/behind it!

    9) Spoke to downhill neighbour about mending her fence panel. Have pulled a plank off it so I can take it to B and Q and buy the right sort. Smaller son will mend it and she has offered to give him a few quid. (Got to do it to keep the possible dog in).

    10) Enjoyed I'm a Celebrity.
  • Ah yes apols Vjsmum, I confused it with someone else, exciting times.:)

I’m feeling sad, honestly I’ve misjudged someone and I thought I was an OK judge of character, DH is being fantastic, with a very much “s£d him” attitude.

    1. Up silly early for injection, the animals where acting like we are the best thing ever, even waiting for us when I got back from the apt.:o
    2. I appear to be properly cleaning up, part of me wonders why I am bothering as we aren’t here over the festive time. But the french windows are sparkly and the display case and nick nacks are all washed.. Tomorrow the welsh dresser is in my sights.
    3. Long journey to sort some things out for dad, completed 2 very large benefit forms, went to his doctor for print outs, and to council offices with paperwork. Glad it's done:T

    4. Must dig out the advent lorry.:D
    5. I received confirmation that the role I truly want has my application but they are notoriously slow at feedback so I am ever the optimist.:)
  • Am so glad today is a day off work. Feel exhausted !

    Pleasures for Monday

    1. got DS some Green and Black's hot chocolate for his stocking on offer in Morrisons and picked up some shloer half price too

    2. went round the corner and got this weeks shopping in AldI along with a few party foods for boxing day and still came in under budget

    3. a friend drove us both to the range - enjoyed looking at all the xmas stuff but managed to resist except for a changing colour light-up parcel to hang on the tree and a calendar - both £1

    4. afternoon nap :o

    5. leftovers for lunch and hm tikka masala for tea (well ... sauce from a jar :o ) was nom nom

Last few xmas stocking things to get today in asd@ on offer, and then I have done my xmas shopping. Most things ordered online - just waiting for 3 items which I am hoping will arrive before xmas, although there was a worrying item on the news yesterday that suggested millions of parcels will not arrive before xmas, so fingers crossed !

exciting news re possible dog frith (as opposed to an impossible cat?)
    1) our updated programme has been approved woo hoo. You cannot start to imagine how happy / excited i am. i have wanted this for 5 years, and it's been a lot of hard work, and it's going to be a totally manic first year but there is a fantastic buzz in the office and with the students
    2) hm lunch of reheated butter bean stew. xoh soaked some from our massivo stock pile of dried beans. will do for several lunches :D
    3) so the surveyor came round and sadly we do have dry rot (from a long-time undetected leak under the floor boards). but the good news is it seems fairly contained to the downstairs loo and we never liked that porch anyway (lol oh i love this site, it teaches me to look for the +ve in everything). he is preparing the quote eek.
    4) supper at mum's with dd2. mum had bought a meal deal at m&s - huge chicken, bottle of wine and an apple pud. dd2 fixed her puter, printer and several things on the ipad, and i played carols on her electric piano. excellent evening
    5) won a pocket money toy from hawkins bazaar on their scratch card

  • OK Sparra, crash landing! :heartpuls

Tried posting last eve, but their end not working! So you missed out on all the BoP news!

5 Gals at the mill have decorated the place. I am working on moving one or two this evening to see if they notice!

4 Curry night this evening! Dips into pocket. Couple of pennies there, should be enough!

3 New work glasses on. Screen looks massive! And relax!

    2 Missing BoPsie!

It is not us doing it, so don't take the bloody trouble?
  • My pleasures are:

    1. Lost weight at SW this morning.
    2. Made a tasty and filling soup for pennies, that I had for lunch.
    3. Dinner will be Spaghetti Bolognese (Yellow Stickered Mince)
4.Husband is doing overtime tonight, so waiting until 7 to give my little girl (2.5 years) her first advent calender.
    5. Going to light some candles and snuggle up on sofa with duvet and watch Netflix tonight.
  • 1) A successful trip to the city resulting in most of the stocking presents I needed to get at a reasonable price.

    2) Opening the advent calendar this morning, I got a tiny scottie dog in a tartan coat.

    3) Jacket potato for lunch when I was out, didn't realise the time (2.30)and was lucky they still had some left, nice lady was generous with the baked beans, yummy!

    4) Bus home was on time, I was tired and didn't have to stand too long at the bus stop.

    5) He Who Knows made a blissfully gorgeous cup of tea and handed me one as I came through the front door, it was soooooo good!
