Some for today.
1. Beautiful sunrise on morning doggie walk.
2. After yesterday's rain the fields have a lot of water laying on them, a pair of swans had landed on one. When they put their heads together they formed a perfect heart shape.
3. Big bowl of chicken and veg soup for lunch.
4. A full, almost yellow moon rising in the lilac evening sky.
5. Looking forward to reading more of my book in bed tonight, The Taxidermist's Daughter by Kate Mosse, gothic novel just perfect for dark winter nights.0 -
It's now early Thursday morning, glad to be up after a very restless night , far too hot and dizzy with labyrinthitis .
Anyway, my Wednesday pleasures included :
Lengthy chat with friend from home
Long walk with Haggis and OH via post office and stop at local cafe .it was so unbelievably windy but as we had dog we had to sit outside.
I then had a snoozette, having woken with dratted labyrinthitis again, me and my dog had a rest after our walk.
Then out for a late lunch with OH , I had green soup...it was very green! Peas, broccoli , kale ....nice enough . It was a new to us cafe but a bit fur coat and nae knickers.....all fancy but food looked nicer than it tasted! We won't be in a rush back.
Then a relaxed evening at home .
DD1 posted all my UK cards for Christmas when she walked the dog....done and dusted !0 -
Evening all - unbelievably tired, dunno why
Get well soon, Mhags.
Good luck with the job applications PK
Pleasures for today
1. Egg white facepack and then a lovely bathy!
2. made 7 jars marmalade (I cheat and use the MaMade tins. Can't be doing with chopping all those marms) Also made a tea loaf and our christmas cake - the crumbs are yummy
3. Kondoing the photos - pics of DD as a baby and toddler - awwwww was going well until I found 18 albums I hadn't realised we'd got.
4. Avo on HM sourdough for lunch with a cheeky slice of bacon
5. Listening to Noel Gallagher interviews while i worked. Love NG - the funniest non-comedian around.:rotfl:
Night all, early one for me..I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
My pleasures for today
1. Met a friend for coffee n chat.
2. Lunch was smoked salmon & scrambled egg on toasted bagel - delicious.
3. List made of things to do tomorrow - so I don't forget!
4. Nice chilled out evening.
5. Annual review meeting at ds2 school - think we ironed out a few problems with his attitude-hopefully.0 -
It's quiet over here.
1. B12 injection done, and stopped in at Lidl for top up for myself and DF, my portion of our weekly shop was £16 which I think is good, well it’s far better than it used to be.:p
2. The bird feeder was literally covered in all sorts of birds and the wood pecker put in an appearance while the robin kept sitting on our door handle.:p
3. I made numerous calls for DF he’s going to need financial help very soon so I’ve been applying for assessments and benefits for him, and chasing them and chasing them. I have to go to his docs tomorrow and then I can send off one pack completed. Then I have to go into the council and prove I am and who he is for the other benefit ho hum, I hope this all helps him.
4. Seems to be “hump day Wednesday” everyone seems in a bit of a strop putting it politely, so far it’s avoided me and I am just getting on with bits.
5. I am about to shift off my bum and get the office sorted and habitable at last which is done:D
6. Good old dependable spag bol for dinner.
7. Both MIL and old friend got in contact over FB at the same time when neither of them normally do. Bizarre coincidence.:)0 -
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) An irritating day at work but it was all over by 12.15 today as I had the afternoon off.
3) Took smaller son to hospital to see another man (usual man is poorly). I happened to glance at the surgeon to GP letter that was up on the screen and that was quite an eye opener :-/ It seems a biopsy was taken and he has an auto immune problem and the operation was immensely complicated and nasty. I knew it overran by an hour but no one told me the rest... He was not cooperating this afternoon so no progress made with any of it.
4) Smaller son got some astro turf type football boots and shin pads as he is going for a special football day on Friday. I can't remember who is organising it now (its in school hours) but it was a speech and language day last time.
5) A letter from the solicitor saying every bit of paperwork she ever had of mine was destroyed after 6 years. So the fault in my divorce is almost impossible to sort out and no, I won't be able to change the mortgage on my house. At least I can cross her off my list of people to contact about it :-/
6) Went to see Macbeth at our local cinema which was also a mixed blessing! Hopefully it helped bigger son with his GCSE (set text). I would have enjoyed it but smaller son had had enough blood and guts after an hour so sat at the back on a chair where he couldn't see the screen!
7) Enjoyed I'm a Celebrity.
8) Some good news! Off to see a small dog on Saturday...0 -
1) visit to the dentist resulted only in a general clean and one small filling to be replaced in January, Woohoo!!!
2) Found a couple of super books for that Zebra in a charity shop.
3) Quiz night at the pub and just the two of us as Brother and SIL are away on hols. We came 3rd!!!
4) Nice walk with Cookie yesterday with my friend Sue on her own, poor Charlie retriever has broken a toe chasing a deer and is having to rest up until it's better.
5) Salmon for tea tonight, yummy!0 -
It's quiet here!
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep but many dreams.
2) Another problem at work but half sorted by 2 helpful colleagues.
3) Apparently I am someone's favourite TA! Their form teacher told me. No accounting for taste.
4) Tasty tea and managed to programme the ancient cooker to come on and go off at the right times.
5) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
6) Watched I'm a Celebrity.
7) In bed with 1 hwb and about to watch Holby from 2 weeks ago. Must catch up!
Smaller son looking forward to football tomorrow.0 -
How on earth has the month of November almost vanished?
I did write a post on Thursday but it vanished to wherever it is lost posts go.
I'm just in from a very busy shift at work. Main news is that Mr @rse has handed his notice in! Much relief as it was getting all rather horrible and I was starting to think I would look elsewhere if I had to. He seemed to have some power struggle and was very bossy with the other staff with no real position to do so. He had a tantrum last weekend when Dd2 (15) challenged him on something he wasn't doing right. He took a huff, shouted one of has to go , she has to listen to me. I work 40 hours blah blah blah! ( she meanwhile was in the bathroom having a full blown panic attack ) , there has been a lot of other stuff boss hasn't seen / turned a blind eye to and I think it all came to a head on my days off . Anyway, he's leaving at end of week hurrah! poophead!
Thursday I went to the funeral of 95 year old next door neighbour , it was beautiful, very moving but some smiles and laughter along the way. He was a lovely man with such a lovely family. We were all given a packet of seeds to plant, some of his favourite jokes and a crossword from the paper, which he did everyday , right to the end.
Friday , all done up for a night out with friends in the city. Our annual catch up with them. They are usually well oiled when we get there which I couldnt really be doing with, however, we drove in and were given a 50% off parking voucher , I'd a glass of water ,OH had 2 coffees...cheap night $12!
Have had a very stressy 2 weeks with some stuff going on with DD2 , I'm hoping it's now resolved.....kids , who'd have 'em?
Friend from home and I have been propping each other up with phone calls and daily chats.
a week of much weather, wind, heavy rain, sun, more wind, more rain, blooming chilly , far too hot! It's melbourne!
A pile of christmas baubles from salvos for $2.20. 5 boxes for that price but manager then ran round with a carrier bag and grabbed all the loose ones on display for me! Fab! I'm filling empty 1 gallon glass jars with them for decorations. Also a gorgeous top (1/2 price ) and a pair of 3/4 trousers which I wore to work today .
Have lost the tiniest amount of weight which is encouraging. Easier going on than off.
Do have a good weekend whatever you're up to.0 -
Aw Mahgs - love the idea of the seeds, jokes and crossword. Fabulous.
Frith - your "favourite TA" reminds me that, last week, a student wrote in a comments section that i was the "second best lecturer at the uni after XX". XX has left, so i must now be top :rotfl: regrettably XX wasn't that great, so it's damning with faint praise - but it made my day..:p
PK - I am also starting to get the office habitable, as I shall be spending much more of my time there soon. I might even buy a plant....
Pleasures for the last 2 days
1. Good walks to and from the station - still loving this autumn.
2. Fun at work teasing a colleague for his sexist comments - he genuinely didn't realise how patronising and sexist he sounded. He (eventually) took it in good part
3. Starting to clear desk at work
4. Skype with DD
5. Notice formally gone in now - scary:eek: but exciting :j
6. Crying with laughter with friend from work telling me about her complicated love life. I will miss her - but we both might get some work done :rotfl:
7. Quick trip to the pub yesterday to catch up with some former colleagues. One got her PhD three years ago and still hasn't found a relevant jobDon't think that will apply to me though as i have other qualifications.
8. OH cooked tea on Thursday - more significantly he thought about what to cook. i get so fed up with deciding what we should eat, it was a pleasure not to have to.
9. Meal out last night. DS, as ever, was charming company. Why can't he be more like that in the house??
10. Ooh I must be able to find a 10th...... <<thinks>> ooh i know, at this time of year we spend quite a lot of time raking up the leaves in our garden. Cos it's been so blustery they have mostly blown away... result!! :T
have a good weekend all - i will be marking for a lot of it. Hence posting here :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0
