5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
Good afternoon everyone :hello:
A busy few days again. They seem to come in waves at the moment, but each day brings its own pleasures.
1) FIL's 70th birthday celebrations with the whole family yesterday. DH and I are now poorly, but we're the only ones. I'm claiming that it's an allergy to my MIL...
2) A number of NPDs. I'm feeling really quite virtuous.
3) Went to a closing down sale for a local book warehouse. Sad they're closing, but it means that they were selling stock at 3 books for £5. Obviously a real mixed bag of books available, but I managed to get some books which look good AND some suitable Christmas presents. Total spend: £10. Not bad!
4) Have used various Black Friday codes, but not to get too much as predictably the things which I want are the ones not in the sale! I have resisted buying anything just because there's 30%/40%/50% off, no matter how tempting it is. :rotfl:
5) Watched the Davis Cup matches (or the ones that I could). Absolutely delighted at the result. Brilliant stuff. Though in the final match today, I wanted to go into the stadium and tell some of those "fans" to be quiet and more respectful.
Right, I should be watching the rugby - Tigers v Bath. We were meant to be going there, but as DH and I are both icky then we're in the safety of our house. Slightly warmer here too.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
1) A decent nights sleep after several very broken ones.
2) The washing basket is empty, the ironing basket is empty and all is put away.
3) Checked overwintering carrots in the polytunnel and lo and behold they are an inch across and 3 to 4 inches long, deliciousness and they'll hold in there all winter long as we use them.
4) Andy Murray just won his match in the Davis Cup and the British Team have won it!!!
5) Best pleasure left to last .....Bingley Bong on the doorbell at 10.30ish and there was my Grandson with a bunch of roses, of course he's not 2 yet so his Mum had to ring the bell. She'd been up to visit a friend from school and hadn't told us she was in the area and just turned up, oh Joy, Oh Happiness Oh my goodness how he's grown and developed in the past month or so, the words are coming thick and fast and he actually communicates very well, he wanted the garden and made straight for the summer house shouting 'House Oma' to me, he loves it in there we've had such a lovely day with them, bless him he's an absolute poppet!!!0 -
Oh dear Raffles, you're in the cat house:)
Not having a great day for reasons that are out of my control:(, but there are goods:
1. Warm bacon, brie and cranberry for brunch was delicious and calorie laden:rotfl:.
2. I have started food planning again after falling off the wagon last week, :eek:we can’t afford too and it’s not good enough. I’m happy as I’ve also created some freezer space at last.:o
3. Paid two very stingy bills I’ve been putting off until the last possible moment. Ah well done now.
4. Finished the Rosehip jelly, it was left straining overnight however I’ve never had rosehip before I don’t know what its supposed to taste like in the first place to know if I’ve got it right or wrong but it tastes good:rotfl:, it made 5 and a half jars.:T
5. I found myself singing “festive songs” while stirring jam…..yikes.:o:o0 -
PK - sorry, i have banged on about it for so long, i assumed everyone knew
I am going to do a full time PhD :j
Pleasures for yesterday and today
1. Got some marking done, I am going to ice cream town on Tuesday and Wednesday to try and get it finished.
2. Yummy lunch yesterday - more Avo on HM sourdough.
3. OH and i went to the pictures, we went to see Black Mass with Johnny Depp and the 'Batch. Great film, Depp was amazing - but very sweary and VERY violent. Shocked it was a 15
4. Walked to and from town in extremely blustery conditions - but i have got my walks in this week and am still loving the weather :T
5. Fantastic evening with friends last night - don't see them as often as we'd like but always fun when we do. it featured colonoscopies, homing snails and the phrase "My bum will never be the same again" :rotfl:
6. I drove last night so had a decent kip and woke with a clear head
7 Sourdough pancake with HM almond nut butter and banana for brekkie
8 Christmas shopping with bezzie. Have broken the back of it, which i needed to as i am delivering the Kent stuff next weekend so it HAD to be done.
9 Shopping obviously included coffee to start and lunch in the middle and loads of chat

Apologies, awol due chest infection followed by copd exacerbation leading to one overnight in hospital, however all is well now. Thank goodness for our wonderful NHS. But I haven't forgotten you and have kept you in my thoughts
1. A friend took me to London on Friday to see another friend I'd not seen for 3 years. She runs a nursery so we had much fun playing with her little charges.
2. The journey was hilarious, we'd forgotten it was black Friday and due to getting in the wrong lane got caught in the queue for Brent Cross car park. It took us ages to get to the exit because of the queues, we think we must have been the only people to go to a huge shopping centre, not to have bought anything, not even to have got out of the car
3. Had a super lunch followed by rather naughty pudding, which our friend refused to let us pay for. She ate very little having had a gastric bypass and losing 23 stones over the past couple of years, she looks fantastic and has been featured in the press on several occasions
4. Yesterday I went to watch the local Christmas lights switched on, wandered among the stalls, bought a hot dog with ketchup, saw the lights go on and went into the parish church to give thanks for my lovely weekend, and to chat with my Mum. I popped into Mr M's on the way back, bought some chestnuts and enjoyed some of them while watching Casualty.
5. Today I went to my fellowship, had a late lunch with friends, arranged dates and meal plans for our September holiday and made plans to see The Lady in the Van tomorrow.
6. Looking forward to a long lie-in in the morning

5) Watched the tennis (noisy crowd) and bits of F1.
