5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Oooft! It's ridiculously early o'clock. Been awake since 4am , birds are still sleeping and it's still dark but I'm wide awake ( I did go to be bed super early having not slept well on Monday night, so swings and roundabouts I suppose! )
Tuesday was a a day most lovely.
Up early and after a night of tossing and turning was glad just to get up. Still lingering labyrynthitis and every time I tossed and turned was super dizzy and bleurgh so easier just to get up and be upright)
First day of Decemebr, I love December, I love all things Christmas , I love the anticipation . Also our first day of summer ...I do not love summer here but I reckon another 12 weeks and we will be heading to autumn again!
Me and my fabulous Christmas loving DD1 had a day most festive. She leaves tomorrow ( Thursday ) and we wanted to have a day so filled with our normal Christmassy activities but squeezed into a day!
Started with her being up early ( not a morning person) with festive tunes blaring and us singing.
I stopped for a gap with a chat with friend from home.
Went into next town and bought 2 new trees. I have been saving up my laundry cash past few weeks for this purpose. Got $10 off the bigger of the two and also bought a tall, skinny one to go in my dining room. Lugged them back to the car and then she did a final last few bits of shopping for her trip.
Home and moved furniture around...found 10 pebbles under the sofa we moved and 2 dog toys....ah so that's where they were! haggis has a thing for stones, we have a pebbled area outside the back porch and he keeps bringing them in to chew and we keep chucking them back outside!
Trees decorated with a DD2 joining in , after claiming that she wouldn't be helping and I do believe she was singing along with us...this was later denied! All that was needed was the 6 foot tall son to put the angel at the top of the new 7foot tall tree when he came in from work.
Mince pies made and tasted. Only DD1 and I like them so I won't make anymore, I will be continuing my no sugar policy for a few more weeks but just wanted a mince pie or two! They were so lovely . I think it's a bit like your first strawberry tart in the summer that aaaah moment as you have the first taste and all the memories flood back of pies/ tarts previously eaten....or maybe that's just me!
Table all set nicely and everyone around the table for dinner which was nice, because we work/ things on of an evening it's nice to all be together,
made a very nice lasagne with a few serves for the freezer, roast sweet potato and parsnips, mashed potato and some cabbage.
I've started photo journaling my month of December on FB, to keep DD1 up to date with an Australian Christmas countdown and she is going to send me European Christmas photos.
Then an early night...I'm just going to read.....don't think I read a word!
Last day with my girlie ahead, some more festivities and a trip to the cinema using free vouchers. Have a good evening.:)0 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Weather a bit warmer but still raining.
3) OK day at work.
4) House clean and tidy continued - all appliances etc pulled out in kitchen, floor steam mopped, bathroom cleaned.
5) (drum roll.....) the lady from the kennels visited. She was here almost an hour. Turns out the other lady she had seen (before me) was one of smaller son's TAs from his last primary school! And, not only is the dog now going to be ours, but he is coming on the 12th, not the 18th! :-) Sons are very pleased.
6) Ordered a dog bed and harness.
7) Watched I'm a Celebrity.
8) Bigger son had a good school report. Parents evening tomorrow, I don't know why they persevere with that 5 minutes slot thing as it never works.
9) My solicitor emailed and said she will try and sort out the legal problem with my house.0 -
Been a bit lax with posting my pleasures lately so here we are
Number 1 and a big one, tests at the equine hospital have shown my boy to have arthritis in his left hind stifle. Whilst this isn't ideal there are lots we can do to help him in the way of steroid injections etc. long term it will probably mean his ridden life will be cut short but as long as he is happy that's all that matters to his Mum.
2. All the support, practical and emotional that have received over the last few weeks,am truly blessed.
3. I slept last night, properly, for the first thing in ages.
4. The sun is shining and the weather is mild for this time of year.
5. Am off to pick up my new glasses this morning so no more Mr Magoo0 -
will definitely try skint
Not a good week in the DD household. After Monday's dry rot news cat had a stroke Tuesday. He spent I hope a comfortable night but I fear it is the rainbow bridge tonight. And so, through the tears, for yesterday...
1) he is an old rescue cat who had a tough time before rescue and he has had 5 lovely years with us.
2) the family has all been able to say goodbye - indeed two of the children stayed with him in my room till 1 am
3) we will take him back to the vet tonight - they do rainbow bridge work after hours, and i am grateful he will not be in pain
4) son got 20/20 for his presentation. he took me through it last night - can't say i understood much, but very pleased for him (it's his 1st of 2 presentations for his final year honours project)
5) mil is responding to new dosage wellMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

DD - bless you, my heart goes out to you and your family. We love our furry friends so much don't we and its so hard to say goodbye but you are clearly doing the right thing by your boy. You turned his life around and gave him all those happy years, he will go to the bridge knowing how much he was loved and cared for. Love and strength to you m'dear xx0

1) Charlie retrievers toe is less sore than it was and he came for a walk today,he's a little limpy when he's tired but did our normal 3.7 mile loop without any trouble.
2) All the Christmas presents are now wrapped up!
3) Lovely lunch today made with home grown parsnips, we had 'cheesy parsnip bake with bacon and onion stirred through it and some broccoli and brussels sprouts, yummy!
4) Quiz night tonight, chance to shift the pigeons off their pigeon holes and let random thoughts out to exercise themselves.
5) Sorting through clothes that have been hanging in both DDs wardrobes here since they left home, DD2 said she finlly felt it was OK to think about actually leaving home, she's nearly 32 and married with the Zebra but only now feels it's OK to take on board that she doesn't actually live here any more, bless her. Lots of donations to the clothing bank are and have been made.0 -
Good morning from Thursday ...day off number 3 and the day my middle baby flies out my nest for a month.
Wednesday was a much more relaxed day ( if you discount running after a blooming dog all day as he kept pinching stuff off the trees! )
Massive irong done whilst watching Holby.
We went to cinema to see "Love the Coopers" and really enjoyed it plus used free cinema vouchers that OHs work telephone supplier had sent him.
Munched on grapes whilst watching.
Made macaroni for tea.
A couple of months ago I had taken my expensive sandals round to podiatrist as they had split along the sole. They were sure the suppliers would replace them, I later got a call to say they wouldn't. They only offered a 3 month guarantee. They cost $180 and at that point I'd had about 5 months wear out of them as they'd been in storage over autumn and winter . I was offered , as a courtesy , by podiatrist a half price new pair or $50 cash back
I thought nah! And got in touch with the Australian consumer department and after weeks received an email to say that under consumer law I was entitled to a refund or replacement pair and that consumer guarantee overrides the manufacturers warranty.....anyway email sent to podiatrist last night and then recoeived a call from him and I will get $180 cash back.
I'm glad I pursued it but now need to find a comfortable sandal that won't upset my feet.
Do have a good night, need to get up and start my day0 -
DD. My heart goes out to you.
1. Last in the series of pointy needles for 3 months.:j
2. Ran some errands, repeat prescription, posted dads application, went to lidl to pick up chicken for the animals and some bits and bobs.
3. I’ve made 3 bean chilli for tonight, I am enjoying food planning and creating freezer space.:o
4. The woodpecker made several appearances today.:D
5. Deep cleaned 2 display cabinets, cleaning the glass up, washing all the trinkets.
6. Found a few free kindle books that look good, and are now all downloaded:)0 -

Evening all
Hugs DD, I;ve never really done the pet thing but i know they become part of the family
PK - I'd love to have woodpeckers in the garden, how fab
Mhags - well done on the shoe reimbursement. I always turn into one of those " I know my rights" women - thing is, I DO know my rights
Pleasures for the last few days
1. once more, enjoyable walks to and from work
2. As you might imagine, i am so over the work thing - but it went ok
3. OH has been doing loads of the cooking - paella tonight, salmon last. Lish
4. A pottery day at home yesterday - a bit of work, bit of mending ( what is happeniing to me??), bit of tidying, a lot of cooking - veg soup and chicken, chorizo and butter bean stew
5. I went to York on the train - to do the marking and to finish the christmas shopping. I largely went cos it's the cleaner's day and i can't get a thing done when she is here :rotfl: I think we are going to stop her coming after I leave work. i can probably keep up with it - with some help from OH and DS and, as said, I can't do a thing when she is here - which rather defeats the objective.
6. Apart from a few bits and pieces for the kids - a couple of stocking fillers and a couple of small bits - I am done with the shopping.:T
Have a good evening.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
