    Some pleasures for the weekend

Blitzed through the house, for a single moment all was clean and tidy....then the dogs come in from the garden...

Some raucous games of Yahtzee, Captain Scarlet is qualified accountant but accusations of cheating from Lainey proved correct, forfeit to be decided.

Shopping delivery from emporium during the week included two bars of free chocolate, perfect for Saturday night treat.

Sofa this afternoon and watched A Little Chaos, sweet, gentle film and do admire Ms Winslet but poor dear got wet again.

Took girls out and they were spoilt for choice stick wise after the high winds yesterday.

    Hugs to you DD xxx

    1. We have had 'Early Christmas' - as my bro and his GF came before their holiday to Oz :) It was fun! We opened presents, they ate turkey, and we pulled crackers, I think DD reckons she's the Queen as she'll get to do it all again in a few weeks' time!

    2. Managed to get on okay with both bro and his GF, phew!

    3. I love, love, LOVE my latest creation in glass -it's a portrait as it were of my house. Hopefully it will go down a storm when I give it to my parents at proper Christmas.

    4. Starting to sort out the huge amounts of paperwork required for DD's school fee bursary application.....the pleasure is that I think I know where everything is!

    5. DD and I went out to local small town's Christmas afternoon - peppermint tea and hymns in the lovely church, mooching about sampling local food and drink and chatting to friendly shopkeepers. That, and DD's company - perfick :)
  • It’s been a sad weekend, a friend and neighbour who was talking about his plans for after Christmas sadly passed away. Within 2 hours of this we also found another friend that we had not seen for a while has also passed. Heavy hearts here.:(

    1. Food planned from the freezer into the fridge.
    2. Spoke to Dbro.
    3. Out of bread here so did a brunch of grilled bacon and sausages, egg, beans, tomatoes and some chips. Delicious that’s my reasoning for not making bread…
    4. Started clearing out the room that’s too cluttered a bit of a light bulb what is the point in hanging on to too much, 6 bags of what is now rubbish down and a start has been made. One large bag of donations to be made to another animal rescue as we have enough to store for now and we know of some animals that need the bedding right now. It’s a start it will be nice to have a useable guest room.

Sorry to hear about your sad news this weekend, PK.

    Busy day here today.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Finished my Sinter Klaas present off. It was for my brother who is secretary of the tennis club so I made a cardboard court with "floodlights" after he helped with the fundraising for lights this year.

    3) Went to the allotment to get the last few things off.

    4) Sainsburys for quite a bit of Christmas shopping.

    5) Spent a good 2 hours in the garden. I imagined the new dog running to the side fence and getting poked in the eyes from all the plants climbing on it! So I cut the massive climbing rose back to 30cm and moved it down the garden. Also cut the rose in the pot down the same and put it in the ground. Cut back the bachelors button and the MASSIVE fuchsia. 5 wheelbarrows of cuttings from that - can't describe how heavy these things were, with stems 3cm thick or more! Did a bit of weeding, emptied the water butt and generally tidied up. Looks bigger now!

    6) Went to my sister's for Sinter Klaas. Bigger son had made my mum a cooking pot from silver painted card with a cardboard chopping board and knife in and a poem about cooking. Brother in law had made me a geocaching app (from cardboard but with a real compass!) and we had to explore the side streets round his house following instructions to get my present. :-)

    7) Watched the final of I'm a Celebrity just now.
  • Oh I weres spill corrupted. Moggie to movies and chromosome dinner. Was Chrimbo!

And relax. BoP is at the place Lenny doesn't sleep at! Broken chair. Let's see if it is replaced tomorrow?

No pleasures as away from BoPsie!

Glad to see your post, BoP, didn't want to be a lone voice on here!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Had a day off work. A lingering sore throat, hurty eyes, bad head and feeling giddy when I stand up that has lasted for 2 weeks. I thought a day of resting might get rid of it, but no. Back to work tomorrow.

    3) Apart from resting, I did make a huge quantity of braised red cabbage - 15 portions are now in the freezer.

    4) Wrote out the Christmas cards.

    5) Put some new bark chippings on that bit of the garden.

    6) Watched Holby City on iplayer.

    7) Have been in bed since 9pm (still ill) and am about to put Clue on the laptop on the landing so we can all listen to it.

    8) Looking forward to new dog :-) His lead came in the post today and name tag has been dispatched.

A lurgied household here, I think it’s just a bad cold temperature combi luurvely it’s not. Seems to be a lot of it about.
    1. We decided to have a bit of a HM Christmas food at least, HM jam tarts, cookies and I’m giving Christmas pud a try. I know it’s a bit close to Christmas now but worth a try as the only ingredient we need to buy is suet.:D
    2. Didn’t exactly do too much today, and I’m not feeling guilty.:o
    3. Did get an animal bedding washing load done.
    4. 5 consecutive NSD’s although the wallet is going to have to open tomorrow as it is reaching the point that when the milk runs out tomorrow we are out of all fresh essentials, and we’ve made a dent in the freezer at last.
    5. Completed what I hope is one last application for now for DF, scanned and emailed and will post off tomorrow when I am hoping this lergy will pass.

    Just in.

Charlie Hebdo attacks 11 months ago today, with successive barbaric massacres on our climate-changed Planet Wreck...which still has beauties and decent, good people, however threatened all currently feel to &.
Not all is yet pillage, savagery, hatred and stupidity, with matching knee-jerk idiotry in response.

:AMany of the goodies are on this Thread:-) :A

-both sounding disparate warnings are just 2 more.
I just haven't felt able to contemplate posting of late. Have been flying about, involved with things/people related to foregoing mess, across ditch again, too.

    1. At last connected with enzed famberley - over 100 attempts failed. 'This number is not recognised. Please check and try again'. Garbage. And you're prob. sick of &'s rptd 'With blvd Unc+Aunt totalling 174 years...'etc, but of course anxiety is there with that response. They are all cracking well:-)
Answered France several times the other night, but no&speak heard that end. M getting exceeding cross, & loud+clear, but no go.

    2. Compline last Wed. pm and Advent Carols last Sunday helped.

    3. Peeps old and former - some simultaneously:-) - met with again today. Good things happening. High amusement with Ken:

    4. Something I hadn't known of[was supposed to], but was able to attend last min with someone...bought fabulous little bits of treen @£1-2 apiece: small, affordable, packable, lightweight, not too dear to send, unique, tactile and lovingly well-made, using holly, burr elm, yew, pear...absolutely terrific little saltspoons, mustard ditto, light cord pulls[& uses found shells], spurtles, honey spindles, beautiful thinly turned little shallow plates/dishes - all just stunning. Thrilled with every single piece.

    5. Have been crossing paths with long-known/little seen-over-recent-years peeps completely unexpectedly and out of context over last fortnight. 2 more early evening today, 20+miles apart, both far-ish from &squat. Really good. 2nd one coincided with humungous bargains chez Monsieur T, offered by lass arriving with same, just as & and young friend parted. 'Can you use these?' - 3 Gressingham poussinsX30p, 2 cod[line-caught]loins 24p, organic diced lamb 31p, 9xchantenay carrots[neighbour's bunnies]7p per 500g, lge fresh pineapple 10p, grapes, special pears, etc.etc.
    Still forgot my butter though...
Astonishing hauls at both Mr T and w8r0s[+free cappuccino, bien sûr], such lucky timing AND meeting people I've always liked :-) One has grown over 15years into a cracking young man, doing tough, coal-face caring work I really admire.

    6. Brilliant astonishing R4 play this arvo as &took self across country to mtg pt, chopping 16 miles off official distance. Excused self when greeted upon arrival, saying 'I'll be in when this is over.'
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06r4gpl

    7. Also remained in car for rest of ISIHAC ce soir.
Caught Dorking rpt prog 1 this a.m. and thought, Hmmm Okay[when the fissures in auntie beeb are appearing as fast and as deep as those on our benighted planet, I treasure Good for Good's sake] ....but tonight's is BIG and Bonzer. Loved it.

bop's challenge - to listen and NOT laugh. & defies ye[25mins of your Life:-)]

Frith - let's say that just as new boy arrives, so will Barry return. Mr Sod makes these little Laws up in his Man Plans, God Laughs department. Sinter Klaas presents and school mtgs both evidence of accomplished achievements. Couldn't make your Dad/bro links work though...the pics are sans doute floating out about there somewhere, or being galed tonight.

Hoping all of you in this Thread's known reaches North are alright, especially thinking of DFV, not long over the Boil-All-Your-Water fiasco, that took far longer to correct than first estimated.

There are too many leavings at present. Blessings to all currently with concerns and/or condolences.

Well done and welcome home to your daughter, judi, when you pop in next.

mhags - Hooray, the unspeakable He is gone!!!
Thought of you when I spotted a 'Keep Calm and Watch Andy' mug, during Davis Cup Final, which was fantastic listening while &was making all the crimbo puds, using £land's excellent Jane Asher 2pt lidded basins.

Morning all from my bed in ice cream Town. :T Haven't been here for 2 months (OH has) and we now have the lovely and welcome addition of central heating :j

Frith - 15 portions of cabbage!!! what's the new doggy called?
PK - hope you feel better soon (I thought you'd written "burgled" household)
    Kittikins - welcome back
Ampersand - you are right about Wiki, I will bung em a couple of quid.
Lainey - why Captain Scarlet? Or shouldn't i ask...
DD - reading in the bath is a guilty pleasure of mine. Or watching TV on the ipad..... :o
Skint - saw the first How To Get Away With Murder with DD and enjoyed it. I will work through it when I've done with OITNB and Mad Men.....:p

Looking back on when i last posted, i see that was also from bed, on the opposite coast to where I am now...

    So pleasures since then.

    1. Dad was really chirpy - it is not always so and was a complete contrast to MiL who was at our house when i got back. She was a picture of misery. I think it's us..... She does play games, though.......
    2. My brother's roast potatoes which are the best ever....
    3. Din dins with DD at Wagamama. Then I made her lug the suitcase back to Euston as it was she who broke it. :rotfl:
    4. Reasonable teaching session -
    5. good train trip to Wales, got some work done and read some of my book on my kindle
    6. There was enough food in the house to not need to leave it once I'd arrived (even though the supermarket is just across the road - that places it, Frith :D) and bonus choccie bics left by the plumber. I eschew sugar and wheat - but not if there's free chocolate digestives :p

Have a good day all - I am going to walk along the beach to Aberdovey...
I wanna be in the room where it happens
