5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Frith (((hugs))) to you and yours0
-
Seems ages since I've posted, life rushes by with very full days so I've had little time to log in lately.
1. A small windfall
2. A very enjoyable evening at the theatre followed by supper with frends
3. DD and I ventured a little further afield for our Tuesday shopping date to a super little town over the Cambs border that neither of us had visited for some 20 years. A quaint High Street with independent shops, a super department store and a lovely little restaurant for lunch. We'll definitely go back
4. Wonderful weather, no heating needed, windows wide open, washing on the line two days running, no coat needed. Forecast is rain tomorrow but that's okay, it keeps everything green
5. A few unpleasant lads smashed the junction box which operates the C-word lights which the local volunteer group have almost finished erecting in the High Street and adjoining roads. One message in the village fb page and donations have come flooding in. What a good little community this is.
Sweet dreams0 -
Nodding head in agreement, sparrer, re: full days+little time. but not nodding too hard, with argon conditioner Marge Simpson long hair pile-up on head.
Will rinse after this.
1. Book-ended y'day with emporium bread drop-offs to friend. Lainey, those roadworks are ravaging takings and some stock levels can't be quickly adjusted. Was shocked by vvv% whispered. Anyway, have replacement mob. pouch[wanted] ex Portugal from friend. Tufty wool spun on 150-yr old ex Lancashire looms!
2. Oz avenging oval ball defeat, using round ball and stick of rhubarb. Little kiwis have just astounded with a surprise catch, now 403-2. All players stunned, including enzed. Commentators say losing the toss = losing the match in Perth.
3. Very dark inky night, despite dim stars. Late laundry in, then more out, gusty blowing non-stop. Really couldn't see what I was doing. This morning find 2 sodden nighties in bushes, laundry trolley+6" rain. When did that happen?
4. Don't like new beeb lay-out. Trash magazine look with slumped writing standards and sleb-style headlines. Constant invitations to 'Say what you think about our new look'. Today, because of waiting hair, did just that.
5. Thinking to tie in MrT-redeemed YHA days away with Toulon vc Wasps [Ricoh Stadium 22/11], but it's not anywhere near a coast, which is &'s need. On verra.

Replaced more missing Thanks on this Thread and saw posts I hadn't seen.
Well done, [wasn't allowed to write p-u-s-s without hyphens]-cat Gordon and please do same, Barry. Didn't know he'd gone a-wandering, Frith.
How are you managing allottment these days with work?
Good feeling re: loan, Vicky. It's much worse for students now.

Some recent pleasures
1. Doing some de-cluttering and feeling better for it, liking the more parred down look of our home.
2. Sonos system, now Lainey is the the least technical of people and poo pooed the thought of no CD's etc BUT darling Captain Scarlet has quietly gone about putting all on my music on the system that come as part of his dowry :rotfl: and I love, love the fact can now walk anywhere in house and hear my music.
3. Phone call from darling Mum to say having grand time away on coast with her brother, she even had a little dance apparently.
4. Lovely friend of mine who has his own forge made two of Bill's horseshoes into a stand for pot to be placed in fireplace, sort of a cauldron that takes candles etc, it's beautiful and totally unique.
5. Cherry and Almond Lattice pastry that was my reward for venturing forth to emporium despite traffic fun and games, actually Ampersand it wasn't too bad and like you say strangely quiet. Lots of suits wandering around setting up tables so wonder is some kind of Yule open eve. Not for Lainey, she will be tucked up warm.
6. Yesterday and today, grazed equine pal in hand so he gets some grass. Yesterday stood in sunshine, today was " never know a night like it" hat and gloves on, bbrrr.
Frith. -sorry to hear about your friend, I lost my darling eldest brother to a BT six years ago, it's a horrible disease that in comparison gets so little research funding compared to other cancers, love and thoughts with you.0 -
Frith - hope your son feels better today. It's a shame boys can't offload in the way girls can!
1. Cleaned house through for the weekend and the sun shone as well to chear me up and light up the rooms.
2. Had the leaf sucker/blower out to get some of the finals debris from around the front door.
3. Cleaned the car - only washed it but it did need it! happy that it's clean again.
4. A nice hot shower afterwards although i do ache a bit today and hope I am not coming down with the flu
5. Had a chat on the phone to one of my long-standing friends back in Northants tonight - had a laugh over various different things! Arh friends they lighten the load of your troubles :TCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Slipped AWOL again, sorry!
Mrs LW - school certificates are wonderful! - one son got a sticker for eating all his lunch on the same day he got a certificate for reading aloud a bit of "James & The Giant Peach". (I had to ask his teacher to explain why he said he had a sticker for eating the Giant Peach...)
mhagster - when are you going to shove that chap down some recently washed steps? Yikes, Car! Biopsy clear rousing huzzahs! "now you can tidy your room son!" - agog to hear If This Works...
skint yet again - you won't get me ironing without credible threats of violence & even then you may not get an garment fit for wearing. Some of my ignorance is very carefully Cultivated & maintained. B&M great fun so long as I do not walk down Diabetes Aisle (well, without my Christmas Helper/conscience). How's your office? I'm to be relocated to an even more city centre structure in 2019...
ampersand - if you mix with folk who can make wool do their will, these slipper patterns include "converse trainers" free slipper crochet patterns/ And be careful with that Bayonet! (I held a car door & admonished a son "In!" & got a prompt "Twist! Out!" as a reply. In the great Game of Parenting, I do not see how the devil you win.) Fascinated by Michael Pennington - near Jekyll & Hyde but real human. What do you reckon to argan oil? (Use olive, have coconut but not nerve!)
Frith - awed at your steadfast determination to remortgage in the teeth of howling bad customer service and legal pettinesses of Jarndyce level.
VickyA - rousing congratulations on teaching concentration camps to the young - a special if chewy privilege.
LaineyT - all best of luck with bone scan. Love horseshoe candle cauldron!
OS Pleasures recently
Exhuming boots that fit & will polish ready for Scouts Remembrance Sunday Parade. The polish is part of the privilege.
Admiring the willow cascading down into the river like a Van Gogh painting.
Recollecting to get tickets *before* I need the train!
Seeing construction partly lit. Odd to see folk's ceilings as the side walls or windows aren't in yet. Odd too, the village-y air hearing the tapping of a distant hammer hundreds of feet up!
One of the treats of a flying visit to Peterborough is being whisked through stations & not stopping. Odd little pleasure but there. Remarkably flat landscape but the few trees are autumn gems. (Why are the walls so thin, though? Even older structures look one brick thick at most & the newbuilds frankly cardboard!)
Checking before we set off - "it's raining and blowing a hoolly", "so", "so put your raincoats on, we're going!" Three voices raised in aggrieved resignation... "She goes to chat & you go for rusty tools!" (Perceptive chiel, even if irate.) The hoe we bought is impeccable - no rust (nor edge) so happy afternoon with linseed oil & whetstone.
Anyone remember that Campbell's soup free voucher a few years back? My word, different times then, but I made sure school & scouts had several tins & copy files to print & share. Well, tonight is my last can of cream of chicken... Still tastes delicious.
Thinking on, anyone recall that Mr.T palaver with the Terry's chocolate oranges? Scout parents still remember it fondly as "the Christmas of oranges" & still smile over it! Nice to be part of the network that spread the good news around.
QI & "the female organs of matrimonial necessity" - just as I am trying to eat soup... Oh well, I was going to wash the carpet sometime anyway.
Son insists Cary Grant & James Stewart are the same man. (I don't think photos of both in uniform helped.)
Another son pulled from Remembrance public duties as snuffling. Weather is such the organisers are paving the way toward a Church service... [Confirmed] Glorious.
Oh my. Collecting offspring from school in the lashing rain is only amusing when you're just watching. The terrifying driving, the stupendous death-after-life ignorance of the young - I'm almost glad mine's staying late to send homework by email. Almost.
Successfully applied driving techniques for getting through Big Puddles - distinct pride at not splashing other folk, controlling speed & gears ahead of time & generally implementing lesson. However, probably time to fit the winter tyres with serious grip in wet.
Benevolent lady at bus centre sorted son's (second...) washed bus ticket with huge tolerance & understanding. (Various parties cowered from association with repeat offence!)
Discussing thermite, magnesium & sparklers with son as he "helps" me cook. I think he's beginning to realise I took First Aid training to formalise what I'd learned the wrong way already. Had to restrain him from showing shape changing & holding capabilities of cornflour & water "it doesn't make a mess! (If you don't spill it.)"
Suited chap chucking crumbs off the bridge, surrounded by cloud of seagulls!
Colleague in meeting shucked off a boot to reveal bright pink sock!
Son back at scouts as Young Leader & met with great affection & welcome. I'm a dashed proud mum & leader, observing.
Another dozen cuttings taken. Jostaberry, raspberry, bramble (!) If the apple trees start to fruit, we'll need *something* to mix them with. Apparently the Jostaberry will propagate promiscuously - so I'll just hope & watch. However "the kitchen floor is Prickly!" - ah. Tidy as you go? I didn't.
Big hugs to all who need them, health courage & recovery to all who need same (for selves or to share) and where you work matters less than being valued there.0 -
D'accord. I step out from our OS Pleasures as again I weep, pray, for my beloved France.
Thankyou for kind and caring pms of empathy. ykwya.
I am trying to phone France and NZ now. Putah, phones, all connectivity are worse than ever.
No good, just long long tones. State of Emergency - whole country, all borders.

My pleasures for today
1. Dh made a delicious sandwich for my lunch.
2. Good shift at work.
3. Good colleague to work shift with.
4. More crochet done - making a teddy/blankie for dgs.
5. Safe journey to and from work - no rain.0 -
Terrible news for Paris again, Ampersand.
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) An upset at work that nice colleague is going to sort out.
3) Another phone call from building society! I managed not to be sarcastic. Now, after so many weeks, they want to know why my three months of bank statements came from 2 different accounts. THEY KNOW WHY!!!! It is because, over a month ago, I changed accounts - to THEIR ACCOUNT!! An answering machine message from solicitor from years ago to say everyone is working out of the office (really - 3 days in a row? ALL the staff?) and they will get back to me on Monday. All they need to do is find a piece of paper in their files...
4) Had a game of football with smaller son.
5) HM wedges for tea, just with baked beans and bean burgers.
6) Enjoyed watching Gogglebox.
7) Time for the News Quiz now. 1 hwb and it is very cold.0 -
