5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. I was up silly early to try and make sure I was able to string sentences together for very early interview, must have gone ok as the 2nd interview is next week.
2. Then into rags to get painting the last bit in bedroom and then the bedroom door, first coat, it needs a second, “Once” my “harris”!:o
3. I also managed to dig down to what I needed in the office to make a call and get what’s needed emailed across, and when I went back to the office it was a pleasant surprise to realise I am down to the last 2 piles of paperwork, nearly there and it feels great.:T
4. I made a prawn salad in a jacket spud, DH is not a fan of my healthy lunches.:rotfl:
5. Ran out of steam, did some washing loads, and just looked at the gardening without actually doing any can’t believe it needs “another final mow”! I will put it on tomorrows to do list.:)0 -
Well done on the interview, PK.
Rainy Days - good news about the Ebay sale. I sold my brother's sofa for him last week and the other party hasn't paid. I have messaged them twice but not sure what to do next!
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got to work quite early and it was not too bad today. I wonder if it works that, the better you feel, the more you notice other people are quite unhappy? There have been 2-3 rather defeated and sad people over the last week.
3) Finally made it to a post office to post my school friend's present! Earrings I bought the other day from the NT.
4) Cooked up the last of the crab apples into jelly.
5) Brother gave me a carrier bag of apples yesterday so I stewed all those and they are frozen into crumble sized portions. 3 left out to make apples with mincemeat in the centres later in the week.
6) Made a curry for my tea out of bits and pieces - mushrooms, tin of peaches, tin of coconut milk. It was very nice!
7) Yet another call to the building society and there are more problems! It seems one tax credits letter somewhere had my old married name on it. So I had to email in a copy of my deed poll change of name thing tonight. Even thought this building society is the one that provides me with my current account so they above anyone can see my tax credits going in! The surveyor has sent his report in and there is "historical structural subsidence". I'd like to know whereabouts!! And the legal problem is no nearer being sorted. This is the most epic mortgage change ever.
8) Phone call from brother as they are all off on holiday tomorrow so I have to feed the dogs, ferrets and poultry each night.
9) Smaller son has read 100 + pages of Private Peaceful since last night. The first book he has ever asked for.
10) Enjoyed watched the SAS programme with bigger son.
11) In bed now with 1 hwb.0 -
Ooooh skint where did you get the cats cradle book please I'm teaching dd who 9 how to it. Would be great for her stocking xxSIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:
Very BNPL - £353.000 -
On Sunday we took MIL to Kew gardens. It looked good but would have been better the week before. MIL was the same as usual.
Went to remembrance day service. The stopped cars all managed to turn their engines off too and the silence was silent. Very moving.
Yesterday work was ok. Fairly busy but cold. The start of having cold air from outside blown down the back of my neck and radiator which barely gets warm.
Toad in the hole for tea which was tasty.0 -
Evening all , a day of cool and rain...quite a pleasant change after yesterday's intense Heat and humidity.
Plans changed when OHs car broke down big style in rush hour traffic this morning, he had to wait to get towed, get a taxi to work pick up hire car so wasn't able to make hospital appointment but we gonthere tomorrow first thing anyway.
So I didn't need to rush about and get ready and go into city ( which I was looking forward to but hey ho)
Sat in my jammies and watched UK telly ...all caught up again!
DD1 and I did some chores in our wee town and had some lunch at local cafe which was busy . Free loaf of bread at bakers shop with loyalty points.
Equally lazy afternoon, DD1 went to work so I had one whole hour of peace and quiet until DD2 came in.
Went for a bath, first time in ages.listened to blackbirds and collared doves singing in the garden and the rain on the trees. Lovely.
Made some veggie soup using up veg in fridge . Served with yummy bread from bakers.0 -
Morning everyone, some pleasures for yesterday
Lovely Captain Scarlet leaving me to sleep and taking the girls out first thing. Had a bad night's sleep with shoulder problems flaring up so was pooped.
Lunch with friend at farm shop, tea and giggles, congratulating each other on getting out of what is fast turning into horrendous situation at ex place of work, apparently ex work colleague has turned into power crazed fiend!
Over to yard to see my boy, not riding him at the moment until have second opinion but de-muddied and fussed, he fell asleep so was obviously chilled.
Macaroni cheese made with blue cheese sauce, mmm
And sneaky one popped in for first thing, the relief of not losing any roof tiles despite all the banging and crashing in the night. Our house stands on the edge of a field so gable-end tends to take a bashing.
PK - Congrats on making through to 2nd interview.0 -
BoP is currently in the south, hibernating ready for his holidays! Good weather coming, so ignore the forecasts. You can trust BoP!
No pleasures as BoP is not staying at Champney's! Sorry Sparra, normal price far too much for the likes of BoP, and my claws don't need doing.
So ten minutes of HWOW. Must say, if you buy ore ordained foods, that is what you get!
:heartpuls to the needy!
Nest time Thursday.0 -
1) BIG piles of fallen dry leaves to scrunch through!
2) A very cheery and bright little clump of late flowering marigolds under an evergreen hedge, dispelling the dark green gloom.
3) Just the right amount of breeze for the birds to be able to 'hang' in the air and wheel about, specially the gulls over the river screaming their raucous cries and spinning lazily in circles.
4) Quite a few holly trees scattered about the village that are so red with berries this year, beautiful to see on a grey day.
5) A visit to my lovely greengrocer where they had the best sprouts I've seen for ages at 75p a kilo, got some for my tea!0 -
finished work early today as feeling unwell and warning light came on when I got in the car .....which meant a trip to the garage and the car has had to be left overnight. Hope its covered by the warranty

Skint: I know what you mean I have been bemused recently having seen how much people are buying.
1. I have to admit I laid in and brekkie was throwing out the bread for the birds and using up the tea cakes I found in the freezer.
2. I had time to rummage through the freezers, we had to go to lidl for the animals so being here let me make a list of only what we needed for planned food. Then I went shopping:o and also picked up some Christmas bits and bobs ahem.:o
3. Was able to pop to the doctor, off to the hospital for bloods tomorrow morning.:)
4. Some issues with df today numerous phone calls received, more grey hairs but thankfully all resolved now, dad that is not my greyness…:)
5. Home with a hot cup of camomile, tea courtesy of lidl. There should be an icon of feet up on sofa.0
