Not really fit for here atm, but Lainey, spotted your Wind in the Willows post passim and thought back...and back. Here you are with it again.
Piper at the Gates of Dawn is an & nadir and yet is glorious.
It's been read aloud with both &'s signfiicant others [the other 2 were husbands:p] and never yet have I managed it without tears. tmi.
Back in my hinterland for a bit, although I have just savon de marseille-d the vintage AB's white twill shirt collar again.
Watched it all again till 2-something bells earlier. Love pre- and post-match hakas, that kapo, that kamate!, and everything in between.
Ok, that far exceeds 1-5 and ever more shall be. Dan Carter's 'dark place' talk is sound, not sound-bite.
3 individuals connected to & had seats close to player's tunnel - 2 at Boks vs ABs, 1 at Final - and each spontaneously spoke of the sheer power and 'good men' thing that physically and 'aura'-ly:o radiated, really shone, from them, and very much from DC.

" Breathless and transfixed the Mole stopped rowing as the liquid run of that glad piping broke on him like a wave, caught him up, and possessed him utterly "
&- it's one of my go to comforts, when just a little help is needed to cope. Sadly my childhood copy is long gone but my darling CS found me a 100 year anniversary edition with illustrations by Robert Ingpen, now one of my most cherished possessions.0 -
1) Driving down the motorway past a stretch of beech woodland seen across a ploughed field, and half the field was the same colour as the leaves where they'd fallen like a carpet, beautiful!
2) Lunch with DD2 and my Zebra and a ride with him in the shopping centre choo choo train and a lovely lady gave him a balloon on a stick, happy happy laddie.
3) Red kites wheeling over the motorway at Hungerford, love them!
4) Home after a horrid journey of stop, start, stop and constant windscreen wipers, home is nice!
5) The cuppa He who Knows has just poured out and handed to me, blissful!0 -
I don't get the truck business either... Humbug!
Only a fortnight til BoP holiday and the BoP holiday pot is at £520 and forty pennies. Good weather guarantee. And DfV we will have, live nite out, live scrabble, live tour. And live chink sink, as the sink is replaced. The great flood is coming!0 -
1. DS has found out charity has funding..but doesn't yet know if they'll spend it on employing him. He has hope.
2. Interesting leftover soup, cheesy broccoli and potato. Yum
3. Oh offered to buy chip shop chips for tea as everything he chose we didn't have!
4. Sprouts are ready to pick, hurrah!
5. Earnt £37 woot! But no celeriac order for Monday. Pah.
and now I get to tell ds his dad is too busy to see him tomorrow, I know he's 19, but his face falls. Ho hum.2013 NSD 100. CC2014CC- £31.50/£1352014 NSD 86 so far - May 20/212014 G/C spend £741.55 so far May £107.99/£91Debt Free - 30.05.13 Emergency tin - £1000June 23 - 9NSD0 -
I caught up on the forum today, specifically the not buying it thread, as when DH and I were out yesterday it was amazing with both the amount of people it was incredibly busy and during what I would call a work time during day and the amount of money being spent on Christmas already. I was bemused by it, I guess we have very small families so it’s scaled right back anyway. We also overheard a lady saying she sends her decorations to boot fairs and throws out all of the Christmas lights and decorations every year! Personally it’s probably about time we upgraded ours but they’ve been used for about 16 years now for the youngest set the rest are older about 25 years.
1. I applied for some jobs and revised my CV. Very happy that I’ve also an interview first thing Monday.:)
2. Made a call to the bank to sort my phone number as it won’t let me make payments without the code sent to the phone which they sorted, then I received a call from the mortgage people that gave me more grey hairs but it turned out to be that because we have been over paying for the past year they needed to know where to put it, my comment “to the mortgage”! Phew I was very stressy receiving a call from them.
3. Finally packed away my summer clothes.
4. More working on the “office” mess, vaguely making a dent but not as far as I would like yet, I’ve been up and down those stairs enough to equivalent a gym today.:rotfl:
5. I bought some paint yesterday, we’ve plans this weekend but it means I am all planned in for Monday to be painting what’s left in the bedroom and our bedroom door. I would love a wood door but using what we have at the moment so it needs a coat of paint. Hoping this will get DH to get the carpet that we bought a air while back now, down as well.:p
6. I admit a guilty pleasure today I got distracted by watching the last Inspector Morse.:o
7. Looking forward to a bath and clean bedding.0 -
Not been too well this week but recovering now and only had one day off work. Just feeling tired as coughing at night.
1. Both son's came to rugby and kind man moved seats so DS2 could sit with us. Match not great but at least we won.
2. House is tidy and is far easier to keep that way without son's living here. Managing to declutter slowly.
3. Lovely walk to the station yesterday via the post office. It was warm and I had enough time to really notice my surroundings. The local post office is great with such friendly service and is still a sorting office.
4. Had cauliflower cheese on Thursday and leftover for lunch yesterday. It's a really comforting meal. Not been food shopping for a couple of weeks. DH has just bought milk and bread and we have managed with garden veg and Apple's.
5. Reading my kindle and not feeling guilty about not doing something else.0 -
Ok, to add confusion in the rush to rid your pockets of money indebted to the commercialism of xmas. Here is the best John Lewis advert, ever. And this I think will make DD as mad as a hatter!

5 Snorker fest again. Home dished, no mess. No waste, even raffles cleans up! And last weeks mash with onions. Now, I am often asked how BoP makes his grilled toms so nourishingly good. Slice, in a star on the top. Dash with pepper and sage, thyme. Grill with the Snorkers and best back. Yummy. No need for food waste programme to tell the BoPettes about delicious foods. And the jam role poly festers on top shelf.
4 Chistmas cake is slurping on IOM Whisky, will be covered in marzipan next week. Ready to put a glow on your face. Christmas puds are ready. In fact only the goose now required! No FrancoGermanic fest for BoP. Please be aware, the Christmas pud will be flamed. It may be still be available at Easter. Tip from BoP. Goose at one. Pud a six! That way you see the flames!
3 We will be listening to the Lord Tandeur from the Theatre of Fish!
2 Night I think could be live games! Watch this space!
Sunset! Bird. Song.0 -
Morning from St Pancras. Planned train cancelled so having a coffee and avoiding the pastries....
Pleasures for yesterday
1 day off so took it fairly easy in the morning
2 lunch with girlies, can't often do a Friday (which is their best day) so it was good to catch up
3 DS did his final resist paper - not as confident as the first one and he was not in the best place when he came home. But it's done now and he is hopeful of having done enoug
4 marvelling at how happy I am with this autumn weather. Normally I am miserable knowing it is a long wait till summer. Amazing what a dose of bronchitis does. Course it isn't really cold yet
5 out for a curry with DS and OH. DS is always lovely away from the house, and last night was no different. He was saying how happy he is with the sixth form and is even considering university
Have a great weeken all - I am hoping for dinner with my girl on the way back home tonight,I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
phew ... finally got new laptop configured so can sign in ! What a palaver .... download updated browser and stuff .... anyway am finally back online
PK - Good luck for the interview !
(((Hugs))) LaineyT & LfS and anyone else that needs one
Things a bit stressful here too, my sister has fallen out with me, we find out next week if our office is to close and whether I will still have a job, and DS is due to start new job but his driving licence expires next week and DVLA have said it will take them 9 weeks to review
Anyway finding some pleasures....
1. its pouring with rain and blowing a gale outside but I don't have to go out in it today
2. DS got back off night shift at 7am and has gone to bed so am using this as an excuse to do no housework ;-)
3. hair colour last done 3 july and still looks ok although grey now showing the blonde is still covering so I'm trying to manage to 1 December
4. got DS an early Christmas present he wanted so he can use in new job and got 20% discount (I have been saving a little monthly for xmas - am so glad I did ) - its arrived and hes really pleased with it
5. fancied a takeaway last night but I cant afford it this month - instead I used up leftovers in fridge / wilted and shrivelled veg and some noodles from store cupboard - it was quite tasty and not as sorry looking once cooked !
Not sure why smilies don't seem to be working for me -
