  • So sad if you think a truck from a company that turned Santa red will bring a happiness!

Like the elf, he was green.

Deep in southern just our of SparraLands, the BoP rest this night. With the plebs, as one has mentioned. No pleasure as from face of Buck, it is noted BoPsie is missing her BoP!

And in the Middle East, the drink was blue!

    Pleasures for today (Tuesday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Back to work but it actually wasn't too bad...

    3) No word from the solicitor/building society. There are so many stools being thrown in my way (or whatever the saying is) that I think it is not going to happen. At least I can sort out getting the house transferred from my old surname to my new - hadn't realised it was in the wrong name!

    4) Went into Malvern after work to look round the charity shops and bought an REM album that I had years ago.

    5) Popped into Waitrose (none near me - very swish!) and bought various bits including an apple strudel down to 99p that we never got to eat (more on that later)

    6) Sons had reasonable days at school.

    7) I was selling brother's old sofa on Ebay for him and he got £40 for it!

    8) Power went off at 7pm. Western Electric said it would be on at 1.30am but it came on sometime after 10pm. So an interesting evening with lanterns lit, kettle boiled on the wood burning stove and sons had 62 pages of a bedtime story - first I've read in a couple of years after doing so every night for at least 12 years! Oh yes, I couldn't heat up the apple strudel! We did the usual trick of saying "Just put the kettle on, would you?" or going to turn the lights on! Then I phoned my brother and mentioned the lack of oven. "Why not microwave it?" was the reply. "Oh yes", I said, before realising I couldn't do that either!

    9) Now in bed with 2 hwb and very tired.

Hello, we are waiting on a storm a-coming. Very humid and very dark skies.

Oooft, back to work this morning for one little day. Kept busy for most of shift and very glad to get away at 3 pm. My main colleague gave me a run home which is totally out of her way and very nice of her. New chap was on , now I like most people , get on well with most people but he just rubs me up the wrong way! Gritting my teeth!

Went to Salvos ( with a bag of donations) got 2 pairs of cropped trousers which will be good for work and 2 nice tops/ cardigans....then just as I was waiting for DD1 running home to grab her studsnt card , I noticed 2 small bedside tables ( which we were looking for ) for $10.25 for the pair. So with 20% discount I got them for approximately £2.60 each which is quite alright by me.....manhandled them home!

Sweet peas at back porch starting to flower. Love sweet peas.

DD2 has got a part in next years school production . Very pleased for her as it's what she is good at . No doubt in a few months we will know the songs and dances off by heart.

Off again tomorrow , last one though so I'm determined to make the most of it.

Do have a good day :)
  • 1. Big bag of green eating apples from one of our trees swapped with butcher for yummy chipolatas, menfolk most happy to be able to spot the meat on their plates.
    2. Summer clothes sorted from wardrobe. Wooly jumpers reinstated.
    3. Homegrown broccoli and pots for tea, with leftover chicken and gravy to make a pie.
    4. Trying to think positively about not getting many orders, nearly a year of adjusting our wants and needs. Think how much less unnecessary stuff we've bought!
    5. Struggling. Note left in little veg stall from local childminder who'd bought lots of teeny pumpkins saying thankyou from the children.
And all your happy thoughts too.
DS has just been told his contracts up with charity, no funding to keep him. His housekeeping money is what's been feeding us. Oh always thinks something will come along to pay for everything. I am not so optimistic.
    Ho hum, happy thoughts

I don't get the truck business either... Humbug!

    Hope you feel better, Vicky.
Oh Dear LFS, I hope something turns up - most worrying.

Bit of a worrying time chez VJsmum as Dad is not so well, and DS is suffering anxiety. he is resitting maths this week so I am hoping it's all tied in with that.

  • 1) Walking through a blizzard of tumbling wind blown leaves from the oak trees with Cookie along the lanes this afternoon.

    2) Turning a corner into a road and coming across a fence covered with pink Albertine roses in late bloom and the border they grow in was thick with blue campanula, it was beautiful.

    3) Home grown home made leek and potato soup for lunch today, just the ticket on a grey and dull day.

    4) Reading through an old Cranks cookery book that has been sitting on my bookshelves for years and coming across a recipe for Crecy Plate Pie (carrot based) that we loved but I had forgotten about, will make one this weekend.

    5) Sharing the small things that please me with all of you and finding pleasure in your shared pleasures too, life really isn't about BIG things is it? just the small everyday appreciations that lift our spirits.

Some pleasures for the last couple of days.

Completed two tasks that have been procrastinating about for some time. Firstly sorted mountains of old photos, put a selected few to one side to be put in an album and put the rest out for recycling. It seemed ruthless to start with but then I realised that all those happy memories were stored in my brain, didn't need visual reminders.
Secondly and in a way harder than the photos, a cull of my books. I am an avid reader, love books, but so many just gathering dust so again a select few to one side and others sorted into genres, boxed up ready to be taken to CS's. There are a precious few that I read over and over again, these are now in pride of place in dining room bookcase, along with gardening/horsey/general reference books.
In amongst all the de-cluttering I spent a lovely afternoon with my DM, her latest medication has really helped her swollen legs go down and her mobility has improved because of it.
Also, met up with a friend and her twin three year old boys today, we had lunch at our local farm shop, good to catch up and they are lovely little chaps.
Looking forward to an evening of reading, have picked up my much thumbed copy of Wind in the Willows, the illustrations are gorgeous, especially Mr Badger's home, looks like a really organised OS prepper with his well stocked shelves and pantry :)

Couldn't agree with you more MrsLW, it is the little things that give us the most joy in life xx
