Morning, beautiful day out there now the fog has burned off, pleasures for yesterday.
The feeling of hopeful anticipation of what the next few months could bring, sometimes change is thrust upon us but isn't always a bad thing, thank you for kind words and thoughts my friends, much appreciated.
Time with my boy in the sunny afternoon, out over the drove for miles, just gentle walking, time to think. Home in the dusk, absolute pleasure of watching barn owl flying up dyke towards us, heart shaped face, beautiful beautiful creature.
Out for ruby with DSS, love listening to their adventures, their enthusiasm for life, lesson for Lainey, life goes on.
& - Biggest pleasure of day reserved for my dear mucker, could imagine resplendent in AB finery celebrating a fine win, happy days.0 -
Good evening !
Just had a roast chicken, mashed potatoes , cabbage, broccoli, carrots and asparagus with lovely cheese sauce ( made with UK cheese)....bit stuffed!
Woke up early but think I'd had a fairly decent sleep for a change.i have no problems falling asleep but often wake up and can't get back to sleep....as I start thinking!
Phoned 2 of my good friends from home, not chatted for ages because of time difference but lovely to chat today.
I stood on my back porch steps and welcomed November, I've only gone and done October. I had such a mental block about the month after a doctor telling us that OH would only have 6 months to live if they couldn't do surgery. Now , the sensible part of me knows he had surgery but the words had been said and were stuck there. I have photo journaled my month and was so touched by friends reactions. Anyway.....bring it on November.
day off number 1 today which was lovely. Went for coffee and mooch through papers.
Had a snooze on sofa ( was much longer than a snoozette!) ...had been reading and woke up with a dog beside me.
So a very relaxed Sunday.
Shall add that I dealt with a spider incident this morning! Was sitting in my office chatting to first friend when out the corner of my eye I saw a rather large orange spider under the window ledge....promptly left the room but as its at my back door realised I'd be in and out all day. Spraaaaaaaayed! It fell to the ground still moving...I ran! It got as far as the front of the dogs raised bed. OH was sent to remove it! So whilst not a pleasure as such a n achievemt in dealing with it.
frith sounds like a great break....don't think I'd have stayed in a haunted castle!
& sincere well dones to Kiwis. Glad Australia were trounced !
Have a great Sunday0 -
Oh look. Great weekend. And the evil was off the shelves this morning. Good, and a shame to all who succumbed.
And look, is nearly bonie nite!0 -
1) Trains home today on time and I got a seat on both of them without any problem.
2) Skype yesterday with Zebra and DD2 was lovely, he was dressed as the smallest skeleton in the world and off to a Rugby World Cup party with his mum and dad, so cute!
3) Saw roe deer in the fields from the train, lots of magpies (comical clowns) and pulled into a station and realised I was at eye level with a very acrobatic squirrel, lovely!
4) Casserole for supper because He Who Knows remembered to get the meat out of the freezer this morning.
5) The woodstove is lit and I'm toasty warm for the first time since last Monday, DD1s house is not very warm!0 -
Loving the sound of the competitive quizzing teacher Frith
Recent pleasures....
1. Had a little 'holiday' for a few days with DD, in the town where I teach, cat sitting for a colleague in her lovely house. We both agreed the house was just the right size for us, if we ever win the lottery....
2....Which I did, all £2.90 of it!
3. Have had a good half-term, feeling a wee bit stressed about going back, as a certain person contributed to a lot of stress with his unnecessarily horrible attitude before half-term, and I involved my union to get advice on what I should or should not sign up to as performance management targets. Sigh. Must keep my chin up and try not to let the bu**er get me down again!
4. DD and I had a fab day in London yesterday - the IWM, where we both enjoyed the family life in WW2 exhibition but found some of the others very sad; yummy Italian restaurant nearby; watching a few minutes of the rugby in Trafalgar Square; fruitlessly searching for The Leaky Cauldron near Charing X!
5. Opened a new bank account, through a link on this site, and am looking forward to the £150 I'll earn when it's all set up and running.0 -
Kittikins - hope work goes well for you tomorrow. I am not back until Tuesday, many issues there and I got a sense of impending doom when I realised earlier this evening that my return is getting closer!
Pleasures for today (Sunday).
1) A lie in.
2) Sons pottered around downstairs for a bit while I stayed in bed. Bigger son is always up early. They always make themselves strange, unbreakfast-like food! Today it was cheese on toast.
3) Went to Sainsburys where bigger son realised he had mould/sheep poo (?) down the back of his trousers as they were the ones he wore for the bonfire last night and he had sat on something out in the field! So he then refused to go in. Smaller son and I did not laugh until we got inside! It seems he amused himself when left in the car by shining the laser light thing (that the cats chase) across the car park and on to the sign above PC World and startled people walking in. :-/
4) YS food was just what we were looking for - apples for lunch boxes, stir fry veg for tea and chestnuts as there are almost none locally this year.
5) Picked sloes this afternoon - also not a good year for them.
6) Chicken stir fry for tea then bigger son made cornflake cakes.
7) Watched a bit of Strictly in front of the stove.
8) Packed up the bits I sold on Ebay - including some brand new Converse I bought for bigger son from a charity shop for £7 or £8 but he didn't like them. Went for £23!
That's it. A bit of a lie in tomorrow as we have the dentist rather than school first thing. We don't have to see the dentist anymore (no fillings between the 3 of us) so will be meeting an assistant (?)0 -
1. Utility switch completed, will see in a years time if MSE cheap energy club has saved me anything. They're promising a £30pm reduction, seems a bit drastic but the rebate from my previous company is put by 'just in case'
2. Lunch with friends, the usual bring a dish meal.
3. A short walk afterwards when we crunched and kicked leaves. What a lovely feeling
4. A very foggy morning with visibility down to a few yards but glorious weather this afternoon got a little gardening done. Would have been more but DNeighbour and I were putting the world to rights again. Primroses are still in flower from the Spring, as are the cyclamen, patio roses, spring pansies, zinnias, chrysanths, cymbidium and several more. They've certainly got their seasons confused but it's lovely to see so much colour in November
5. 10 DGC and 4 DGGC's presents bought and wrapped this evening for the c- word.
A wee moan - I drove 6 miles to my lunch meeting along country roads at 11am. The fog was very thick, visibility a few yards. I would think almost a quarter of the cars coming towards me didn't have their lights on, so they weren't visible until they were almost level with me. I know we all drive with lights on at times like this but I wish other people could be told how foolish/dangerous the 'I can see you so I'm alright Jack' attitude is. Rant over
Sweet dreams0 -
Good evening! It's been a cool and damp day here .
Day off number 2
Woke up at normal work time so just got up and pottered.
Phoned my good friend from home ...usual 2 hours of catching up. I love that we always have stuff to tell each other.
Went on a trip to country town of Healsville. It was raining when we left home, it was dry when we arrived and then was pouring as we were leaving, so plans to drive further afield averted and returned home where it was dry!
Home to a letter saying that I've been accepted for citizenship ! Only 4 weeks after everyone else but accepted none the less! Such a relief. We will not be citizens until we go through ceremony which will hopefully be in January.
Watched Downton.....without DD1, who had gone to work. She will not be happy!
Have a good Monday0 -
Morning everyone, cold and foggy here today so pleasures for yesterday
What a beautiful day weather wise, warm and sunny, warmed the house and our hearts.
Lazy, easy kind of day, no set meals apart from bacon sarnies for breakfast, just spent time reading and talking.
Smashing walk with the dogs in the afternoon, lots of stick chasing, leaf catching and general running around, cobwebs blown away and beautiful setting sun across the fields.
So many pheasants and partridges in the garden, all hiding from the guns, could hear the shoot taking place on neighbouring farm, safe for another day.
Congrats mhagster on your citizenship coming through.
Sparrer - bug bear of Lainey too the lack of headlights, inconsiderate.
Frith and Kittikins - hope work is bearable for you both.0 -
Look is Monday again. Time sheet signed. May come back next week. No panic Sparra, back with the plebs this night!
:heartpuls to needy!0
