what is the evil in the emporium bop?
    For yesterday
    1) day off so lazy start to morning hooray
    2) cleaned the dishwasher. hottest setting with 1/2 cup of vinegar.
    3) walk with city archivist from cathedral to V&A shoreline. Perishing but very informative and then...
    4) delicious bowl of bombay soup in nice warm coffee shop :P
    5) back in the evening for further celebrations - poetry and music. All very cerebral.
Struggling today but off again tomorrow (would have taken all 3 days off as have annual leave to use up and, as senior colleague pointed out, very important to use all up or SMT will think the resource is there! but have important meeting at 2. roll on 5pm when gbf is whisking me off)

Well cheeky day off today (time back not leave as I'm on call!) - but woke with sound of DS and DD3 fighting again!!! Not happy mummy so to their rooms they went! let them out eventually but only to a list of chores!!! Surprisingly they didn't argue and got on with it as threats of no screen devices for DS and no coffee shop with friends for DD3 - gave me time for some pleasures!

    1. Made lovely home made lentil soup for lunch

    2. Made apple and cinnamon muffins with apples that were past their best - delish! and house smells lovely!

    3. Watched last nights naked choir final with a cup of tea!

    4. Reread a post from a friend

interesting reading - and food for thought!

    5. No calls from work and its 1pm!

On the not so pleasurable note - had to dispose of dead bunny today - don't like dead animals!!!! DD3 not too upset - but got another 2! and now off to buy a toilet plunger as got a blocked loo and want to try to sort it without paying extortionate rates for a plumber!

Wish I could wing you one of my stock cupboard plunger essentials, judi - choice of 2 sizes.

Also, suppose you've tried all the known easies - throwing a big pan whoosh! of boiling water straight down, then another and another?

judi24 if not too late, a very good hm toilet plunger is to put 2 carrier bags over your loo brush, afix with elastic bands and plunge away. Of course i realise this will now cost 10p across the UK, but still I believe cheaper than a shop one ;-)

PS judi24 lovely site. Reminds me of the story of the retired business man on vacation watching a young fisherman in a place not ravaged by the must earn more than i need mentality. Admiring the fisherman's catch, he asks why he doesn't stay out longer to catch more.
'I have enough for my family's need'
'What do you do with the rest of your time?'
'I sleep in, play with my children, play the guitar, enjoy life'
'But if you fish several hours longer per day you can sell the extra fish. You can then buy a bigger boat with the extra income, then another and another till you have a fleet'
    'How long will that take?'
    '15, maybe 20 years'
    'And then what'
'why then you can sell your fleet and retire. just think, you can sleep late, play with your grandchildren, play the guitar, enjoy life'

judi - an interesting article. Very thought provoking for me.

mhags - glad that Mr mhags was out within the day. Home is a much better place to get well; fewer ill people for a start!

Another shoddy few weeks of me not posting. Sorry. Half term has seen me be manically busy, with a car service, hair cut etc etc. However, there are plenty of pleasures:

    1) Time to batch cook! I've made a large batch of Chicken Tikka and one of the portions is waiting for us for supper this evening.

    2) Final carrots from the garden turned into Carrot and Lentil Soup and is now residing in the freezer. Lunch tomorrow...

    3) Cake club last Saturday - I made a lovely Coffee & Walnut cake. It went down a treat. Our cake club organiser is stepping down, so I've put myself forward to take over.

    4) Been searching for Christening and wedding anniversary cards. The friend I'm sending them to is a Phoenix cards trader, so I can hardly ask her for some cards to send back to her. I'm amazed at the horrendous price of some cards. I found a LOVELY Christening card for £4.75  which stayed in the shop at that price!!!!

    5) Visit to London in order to act as a tour guide for a friend's nearly-sister-in-law, who was visiting the UK for the first time. We had a lovely day and I was even treated to lunch overlooking the Thames. Fantastic! A great new friend made too.

    6) Cat giving us much love!

    7) Wimbledon ballot applied for. If you want details, check it out here: http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/tickets/ballot_uk.html

    1. Rain eventually cleared away, for couple of hours this afternoon warmish and sunny.

    2. My old jalopy had not been ravished by those sneaky mices but did need new battery, had suspicions was the case as had needed spark of life twice recently, although it was the original one apparently so had lasted for many a year.

    3. My old dog is feeling better after an episode of being sick and bad this morning, typical lab she picks up any old rubbish, dustbin dog is now on bit of boiled rice., tsk.

    4. Off into horsey town soon for chish and fips, mid-week treat.

    5. The moon, big and bright in the sky, hunters moon to some, so off to hunt and gather.
  • See last night post. BoP is in Henlow, nearer SparraLands! Champneys.

Bit posh! Guess it would be a pleasure!

Good morning from Thursday already, last day off work so the most to be made of that.

Wednesday was a day quite gentle and peaceful.

    Ironing done

Son had first exam , next one today.

UK telly caught up on, on in the background as I ironed and pottered.

Popped out for a coffee with OH to local cafe. haggis came too. Sat outside in the warm sunshine and it was most pleasant.

Local fruit and veg shop....we had 2, one of which I favoured but they've been closed past month due to family illness and we hear they are not reopening . Not so keen on other one but its all we have!

Then we had to do a supermarket shop, couldn't put it off any longer. Overcharged by an extra box of eggs, so was refunded double the difference. I always check my receipt and it often shows a discrepancy.
Child put shopping away! ( I hate putting it away)

Made lentil soup and nachos for tea followed by a rtc cream sponge .

We were visited by an elf !My DD's friend who also works with me was dropping off the cafe tea towels ( at my request so I can wash 'em) and she was telling us all about her Elf training as she is going to be a department store Christmas elf. So it was quite bizarre as we sat in the garden chatting about 'elf and safety!

Do have a lovely evening !
