VickyA - well done, Gordon! Wish my old Barry would reappear.

Ampersand - no, I don't have The Reason I Jump although I did hear some of it on a Book at Bedtime a few months back.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons off to school OK.

    3) Work went alright including a bit of quick thinking before lunch which worked out OK (more luck than judgement). Did some of the information gathering for a course we all have to do so everyone else can just photocopy it.

    4) Ah, the old solicitor... I had her for about 2 years when newly split up from the ex husband and she was pants. I had forgotten until this week, when I need her to get something from her paperwork for the mortgage. So I phone and explain it all. Then phone to ask if she has done it and have to explain it all, all over again... Pleasure that surely she knows what to do now and I'll not have to contact her again after this?!

    5) Went to parents and smaller son enjoyed feeding all the chickens. (Parents away). I fed the ferrets. Then tried to get the dog to have a walk but he is lonely and sulking. We drove him (!) to the Millennium Green where he left a million "offerings", obviously where it is signposted that he is not supposed to. Then sons came up with a game where they ran across the green and I had to shout "Unleash the hounds!" and let the dog catch up with them. We took him to our house for a bit but he never settles. It took him 1.5 hours to stop resting his head on the sofa but to actually lie on it!

    6) Have done nothing all evening except watch TV and read smaller son a bedtime story.
  • Oh look at the week. It has flown. Nest tonight as it us early POETS Day again.

Ampersand. - Was also caught out by roadworks in horsey town when I went in to try and get some petrol on Tuesday, took ages to get to CT junction so gave up in the end and went into village. Missed out on Emporium bargains it would seem.

Struggling to find pleasures for yesterday as tough old day but here goes

    1. Got second opinion on horse lameness, things look serious and he will need bone scan so guess most important pleasure is that when received Insurance renewal from NFU in August I did renew his insurance despite hike in premium.

    2. How supportive my friends at the yard are and generally good eggs, loads of offers of practical help, Lainey is lucky.

    3. No thrills and honest opinion from vet, would rather that than trying to "fluff" things up.

    4. Darling Captain Scarlet cooking tea and then not moaning when Lainey couldn't eat it past lump in throat.

    5. Silent understanding of my big dog who spent most of evening with her head on my knee just being there and loving me, I should be so blessed with my life companions.
  • 1. Leek and bacon gratin in slow cooker
    2. Washing folded and put away
    3. DS is staying round friends tonight
    4. Coal bucket full, wood stacked high, bring on the cold, I'm ready
    5. Earnt £24 yesterday, promptly spent on restocking shelves.
    6. Free cauliflower and walnuts from nice lady at other small farm☺
    7. Put enough money in bank to pay for 1 present for ds and dd

Good morning from the land of early o'clock , birds singing and soft , gentle rain. Porridge is on, dog cuddled beside me and I have a spare half hour before I have to start my first day back at work.

Main delightful pleasure is most recent biopsy came back clear.....despite junior doctor writing on discharge letter the other week..."? Cancer recurrence" it hasn't yet ! So we release our tightly held breaths slowly ...but only for a little while. MRI done on same day for monitoring purposes and we take a little breath in and hold until we get those results next week.

So day off number 2 was spent at hospital for most of the day with a quick tram taken further in to city for an hour and a wander round very busy, noisy shops....we quickly had enough of those and just took return tram and sat in cafe across the road from hospital for a couple of hours until MRI time. We had ,had great plans to do stuff in the city after first appointment but a requested procedure was surprisingly carried out there and then and was a bit more painful than we were led to anticipate! So we had sat in hospital canteen for 2 hours, had our hour wander in city, cafe sit in and then I sat for a further 2 hours whilst he was having MRI. One library book read and finished , one magazine read in waiting room, one episode of the chase - australia watched and mostly correct answers given very quietly!

Home in rush hour traffic, to return to a poorly DD2 who I'd had such a dilemma about leaving in the morning...bad mummy award duly accepted! Left in the care of her sister. Took her to GP and viral infection diagnosed. GP had said it's been the worst season for viral infections since she became a GP

Next door neighbour had been round with trashy magazines ....I don't like them, I don't want them but she is being kind......anyway, lugged them to salvos yesterday as library has stopped their swap box. I think I will ask I for it to be reinstated .

My third day off was one of so much lethargy. I kept snoozing and feel a bit blah this morning so don't know if I'm coming down with similar lurgy to DD2 , I di hope not...I don't have time for such things!

Number one son has finished his exams and third year of uni.....now you can tidy your room son!

DD2 managed a walk with me and Haggis just up our wee town as we stocked up on a few provisions. Small supermarket, bakers for bread, pharmacy and library then home.

    Baked potatoes for tea.

Right I'd better get myself sorted and start another worky weekend, I have Sunday off this weekend which is lovely.

LFS nice to see you posting here again.
vicky we observed the silence whilst at hospital but so many people didn't . We were in canteen in time and music kept blaring, though the cenotaph at Canberra was on TV ( volume down) I felt they should have stopped the music and people would have had an awareness of what was going on. Didn't help that clock was at wrong time.

    Have a good one!

mhagster - great news about the biopsy results being clear! :)
My brother visited the Australian War Memorial in Canberra 2 years ago, looking for the name of someone who had been born in our village. His friend started at one end, whilst he started at the other. Well, that was the theory but he just looked up and there the name was. ArchieFred Lidgett. What are the chances of finding the name straight away in such a large memorial? Duly photographed, an e-mail sent to Archie's descendants and a link back to the war memorial in our village in the UK.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) NSD

    2) NPD

    3) DH doing more ironing.

    4) Parent information evening at school, so I stayed late. DH came to pick me up (his petrol, so doesn't come off my NPD ;) )

    5) Another HM meal from the freezer - chicken tikka masala. Trouble is, the freezer is nearly empty.
    Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared
  • 1) Omelette sandwiches for breakfast with tomato ketchup! Mmmmmmmm don't have them often but when we do.....Yum!

    2) Good drive down to the west country this morning with no real interruptions or hold ups.

    3) The best day with that Zebra, he is such a pickle but I LOVE him so! now both shattered but worth it!

    4) Trip to DD2s local Sain*burys, I haven't one here I can reach easily so I've stocked up on some core things I use lots of, useful exercise!

    5) Good to be home again, journey horrid due to rain and very heavy traffic but made it in good time and have just had a bowl of hot soup and both feel much better. Home is my best place, home is comfy!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Nothing appalling happened at work.

    3) Something is bothering bigger son, and has been for a few days. He did perk up a little as the day went on.

    4) Took sons to the barber's after school.

    5) Tea in Sainsburys.

    6) Let brother's dog out.

All rather forgotten about after hearing some very bad news about a close friend of ours who has a brain tumour. :-( I know no more than that but feel I should leave it a few days before asking. He was told about it yesterday.
