    Pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) Smaller son good at school (has had a few "off" days).

    2) Head teacher helping me out with an issue re: bigger son's friend.

    3) Surviving another week at work.

    4) Was given a neck of lamb (?) by brother and had no idea to cook it so it went in a casserole for 3 hours with carrots, potatoes and onions off the allotment, a carton of tomatoes and lots of herbs from the garden. And dumplings. And it was very nice!

    5) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    6) Enjoyed watching Gogglebox.

In bed now as a very busy day tomorrow, kicking off with sons' driving lessons at 9am.

Just in from rugby club, car full of another 24 shoe boxes for Church and 3 rather fine yoruba carvings - don't ask.
Busy busy busy Friday - can't say 'today' as it's now Saturday.

    1. Ended up stepping in again, becoming The Shoulder, The Ear, The Hug. Just like old times....no, mustn't be dragged back in again.

    2. Wearing THE SHIRT, arrived in good time at rugby. Amazing night, both floodlit matches beginning as final blaze from sun sank behind farmy hedgelines at limit of pitches. Sky aflame, stunning. Club amenities and welcome beyond belief of the USA visitors. The very best of exchanges and so much learnt in so many to and fro conversations. Name, place, How into rugby, and Something No-one Would Guess About you made a great presentation parade and of course it was one shy US lady's birthday :-)

    3. Lucky raffle ticket no.77 - chose a fantastic big Harley D. rugby shirt, black with white cotton twill collar, thinking 'I can sew a bit of AB sthg on there somewhere'....&'s biker days began and ended when she was not quite 4, on back of beloved Uncle's army bike through Foxton dunes - and we fell off. Can remember it all, hear the fall-out now.....

    4. Wedding there tomorrow so big clean-up and setting straight had to be tonight. Last task nearing midnight, took huge 100cm x 60cm catering pan of untouched, still hot, fresh-made lasagne to night shelter. Weighed a tonne. Was horrified when x said 'We'll have to throw it out.' Knew from old Uni days[and sync'd o/n volunteering way back then] that it would find a grateful home. Certainly did. Will collect pan/bath at some point in week.

    5. The matches -
USA chappies, walloped by us, but immensely enjoyable. USA Ladies[scratch team, still jet-lagged, never played together before]walloped Our Champion girls!!! Amazing to see. Both half-time losers picked up massively in 2nd halves, made more interesting as they swapped pitches, meaning everyone saw both teams. Then ABs vs Georgia, recorded. No-one knew what was happening...a whole lot more wake up catch up needed by &'s boys if they want to lift The Pretty Thing up again...dear dear me! Although Savea's 3rd try was lovely, so were well-deserving Georgia's two, born of AB errors. 'Look no hands; might have been order of night so clumsy were they. Huge error count difference, all credit Georgia. And, in another bit of default position team handling, &'s Toulon man Gorgodze was MOM :-) BUT, we're the 1st team through to the 1/4s and later tonight & will sit back beaming as the rest of you scream and shout. Honestly have no idea how it will fall. But everyone's having best deep wisdom fun being expert and serious and all-knowing in advance....comme toujours.

Oh, and load of rugby teatowels are churning around in w/m as we speak. Plus ça change :-)

Whispers....good morning Sunday! Waaaaah! It's just gone 4am which is really 3 am as our clocks went forward an hour or so ago! It's our BIG street party at work so boss picking me up at 4.45am so we are there for 5am to get everything set up! A night of funny dreams and frequent waking up just incase I'd slept through alarm!

I woke the dog who just glared at me ,took him out quickly and then gave him half a breakfast and he's now ...wilingly gone back to his bed!

Yesterdays pleasures included one more day of work done and dusted,
Two more to go ( though the fact is that one of them is a HUGE one)
We were kept going but not usual mad busyness of a Saturday, it was the Grand Footie Final which is almost sacred over here. Streets were empty from 2pm onwards.

OH came in on train, went a work errand for us in my car with DD2 and then we drove home, it was 32o yesterday. Holy moly!

Quick change and then off we went in search of a nice bit of beach with the dog . So it seemed that if you weren't wathcing the footie you were at the beach! Obviously lots of other people had the same idea as us. Anyway, a pleasant walk and then we sat outside at a beachside restaurant ,
'Can we bring our dog ?' , yes, no problem....so I'm off outside waving to OH to come up from the beach......oh darling , said the very nice young gentleman waiter....I thought he was just a puppy! Anyway, we got to sit at the furthest away from restaurant doors which was right at the side of the sea! Perfect. Thanks Haggis! He was very well behaved. Nice young waiter brought him some water and he was fed the occasional chip and occasional crust of pizza! we sat for about an hour, it was warm, nice breeze, sun starting to set, a lovely young man singing and playing acoustic guitar which just lended itself to the moment.

Home and then straight to a very early bed.

    Right! Better get myself sorted!

Feeling colder here tonight so warm jumper on

    Some pleasures include

Woke up early to dense fog, took the girls out into the strangely quiet morning, peaceful walk

Mushrooms on toast for breakfast, dash of balsamic, yum

Fog cleared and hazy sunshine, time outside and even cleaned out my old jalopy, all serviced and MOT'd now, ready for winter
Field next to the yard rapidly being emptied of sugar beet, hard working farmers.

Cheeky Chinese takeaway enjoyed, not so the rugby currently, Still, CU came back from 2-0 down to grab point so least one of my teams relatively successful :)
    Hope everyone enjoys their eve

    Evening all :D

    [STRIKE]Five[/STRIKE] Six pleasures for Saturday:

    1. Went down to the allotment to pick stuff and bumped into my neighbour whom I hadn't seen for ages. Pleased to see him and chat in the afternoon (sort of) sun.

    2. Picked beetroot and a cabbage and various apples including being given some huge cookers from the neighbour's tree and took them and some beans I'd picked the other day to give to my parents where the whole bagful was gratefully received.

    3. Sat and chatted with them for a couple of hours and caught up on their holiday on the south coast. They'd caught the very best of the weather and were nice and cheerful.

    4. Got a phone call from DS2 who is staying with his g/f this weekend to ask me to look up his OU number which means (although he didn't say it) that he was getting down to some proper work. I'd already spotted he'd taken his new course books with him. Am impressed. :D

    5. Multiple phone calls with DS1 who is away coaching at a competition this weekend. Lots of results, feedback, information from his chats with people. Lovely. :D

    6. Ooh and I can hear the hooty owls who have returned so it must be autumn!

    Sweet dreams
