Just catching up (again!) been a bit out of sorts for no apparent reason so was trying to give myself some head space - hasn't worked so back to post pleasures to remind me of the good and stop focusing on the not so good!
1. Lovely weather for last week - think it might be coming to an end but has been appreciated!
2. Passed dissertation - mark was ok -not what I wanted but ok!
3. Fab day as a singing event yesterday - raising funds for hospice too - but took 2 friends who both have had to take early retirement due to ill health - they had never met but live near each other and both been pretty depressed about their decreasing mobility and increasing pain (both are 47 and its so sad!) - they hit it off and we had an amazing day! Now joining the choir and my friends are attending the daytime choir events!
4. DS has got some work working on allotments - friend has one and wants him to do some work for her and has others who want him to do bits too - might keep him out of trouble!
5. Lovely roast dinner with RTC free range pork-really is a different (and better!) flavour! but messed up the veggies as put the steamer pan on without putting any water in the bottom pan with the carrots in!!! Blackened carrots and smoked broccoli and mange touts! Yuk!!!0 -
Pleasures for today
1. More lovely sunshine.
2. Spending time with ds2(15) on the river in a hired motor boat.
3. Lamb dinner cooked by dh.(I won't mention the amount of mess he makes as food was delicious) I end up clearing up!
4. Crocheted some more granny squares.
5. Did well on eBay and listed some more unwanted items.0 -
Evening all
(or should it be morning?)
Five pleasures for Sunday:
1. Enjoying the peace and quiet of the house alone. Lying in bed working on the laptop for hours this morning interspersed with random phone calls from DS1.
2. Deep cleaning my bedroom - the amount of dust I found under the bed was scary but it's all gone now. Enough decluttering done for now, laundry done, clean bedding and winter duvet in place. Just have to do the nets and the window tomorrow and I have another room ticked off the list. :T
3, Happy chat with my dad on the phone.
4. As a result of tidying, found a bunch of old stories/creative writing exercises which I hadn't read in ages and were actually pretty good I think.
5. Porridge and blueberries for supper because I'd forgotten to have breakfast this morning and couldn't be bothered to cook a proper supper since it was only me.(Porridge and blueberries make a very nice supper!)
Sweet dreams

Good evening from land of much heat, 35o this afternoon and I'm slightly sweltered! Yep! It's that time of year again when I start moaning about the heat!
So hurrah! It's Monday! Work is done for 3 more says ! Hurrah!
Walked up for train as day was breaking ( because clocks changed it was dark again first thing. The most stunning sunrise over the hills seen from the train. The fresh smell of spring in the air. Shame I had my tee shirt on inside out for the first hour of my day !
Not a madly busy day but passed by quick enough and another weeks wages earned.
Stopped at florist on way home to buy a bunch of flowers and she gave me an extra bunch for free as some of them were a bit past it....look fine to me. What a lovely gesture
Popped into bakers for OH's vanilla slice and got 6 rolls free on loyalty card. ( spend $6 to get card marked.)
Popped into salvos and got a pair of cropped trousers and a nice top . I've out on so much weight that none of my summer trousers fit me.....
Came home and ate some cheesecake whilst watching Downton....bad mummy ...didn't wait until DD1 was with me. Enjoyed it all by myself
DD2 has brought home forms for Debutante Ball next year......steeling myself to read through and gasp at costs!
Let the days off commence , have a lovely day everyone0 -

Pleasures for today
1. contacted ald1 as the basmati rice pouches I bought yesterday are not basmati .... never come across this before but they had long grain rice in them by mistake. They have said they will replace them all, including the 2 we ate last night, when I next go in
2. neighbour gave me a big bag of apples and pears from their fruit trees
3. last of the lurking washing up done (stuff that can't go in the dishwasher) and tidied up
4. afternoon nap
5. have put 2 bids on 2 items on bay of E for DS's gf's 21 birthday next month. Thought I would get her something to keep (hope she appreciates it) ... and so I have bid on 2 very pretty vintage paperweights ... if I win both I will keep one myself ! ... will pay for it out of my xmas money from DP's

Still raining here too!!!
1) Just had Irish Stew and Apple Crumble for supper and feel warmer than I have all day, yum!
2) He Who Knows is back home, miss him when he's away.
3) 2 x jars of reduced Mincemeat added to my stores one is use by Nov 2016 and the other July 2017, craziness but my gain, both YS at 75p!
4) The garden birds seem to like the new ground feeder trough, it has emptied during the day and both resident magpies were there together this morning.
5) House all cleaned today, ironing done, no washing left to do and nothing else needs doing so an evening off, Yay!!!0 -
Evening all
1 lovely autumn colours and smells. I am on a "feel good about autumn" thing as really I only like summer but have decided that I can't hate 3/4 of the year
2 good banter with my class - including telling a group off as though they were in primary school. They took it well and we had a banter about it after
3 showed colleagues that I can still sit in the lotus position at age 51 :T
4 got my new sandals that I needed to take to Hong Kong and Singapore on Saturday. They are lurvely.
5 finally got colleagues trip to the above booked - with 5 days to spare
6 OH has cooked delicious roast pork that we bought on Saturday but didn't have time to cook yesterday. Seems a bit decadent for a Monday night - especially when accompanied by a bottle of Rioja.
HVe a good eveningI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
A collection, it seems ages since I posted. I've enjoyed all yours.
1. Watching bits of the RWC, and enjoyed what I've caught. I loved watching the Arc race meeting from Longchamp and hearing the National Anthem celebrate a British win by the incredible Frankie Dettori. His tactics were masterly, it was his son Leo's 16th birthday and you could imagine him thinking 'There's no way I'm not going to win this, can't spoil my boy's special day.'
2. DD & DSoniL are on a break without the children who are with their other grandparents, dogs in kennels. DSoniL kept the holiday destination a secret for 18 months before letting it slip. They took my tablet - which was a review freebie - to help to keep in touch.
The weather at their destination is warm and sunny. Lovely!
3. I made my own body lotion bars from shavings of beeswax (bought) and coconut oil (sent to review). Great fun. 3 parts beeswax to 4 parts coconut oil, melted in jam jar bain marie, poured in to silicone moulds (Lego shaped ice cube tray,). Next time will try 3:5 but pleased with the results. The bars also make great lip balm.
4. Work settling down with prospect of decent earnings.
5. A really pleasant and helpful phone call from someone who could have chosen not to be helpful, but used common sense, rather than the jobsworth approach. This organisation has always used the jobsworth approach in the past and I was so surprised.
6. Do you remember those 70s devices for cutting glass bottles to make your own drinking glasses? I got sent one to review...! Half assembled at the moment, I hope it works ok and I can make safe, usable items, I don't fancy lacerated lips.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
What a day!
Still ill, continuous reflux. Another day off, tried to get as much done as I could:
1) Tried for hours (literally) to get mortgage company to agree to remortgage the house. They want something from tax credits that doesn't exist! Phoned tax credits yet again to hear there is no such record available, was on hold so long that mortgage company staff had gone home. :-/
2) Also on phone for an hour to new child maintenance service who will be as inept as the old one except these are going to keep a % of my sons' £2.50 per week to themselves...
3) Phoned DVLA to find where my car tax refund had gone. They hadn't entered it on their records properly. It will take another 4-6 weeks to send me a cheque.
4) Phoned garage as car is *just* under warranty and now the boot won't stay shut! It will be going back in on Thursday.
5) Brother came round to mend the tumble dryer for me.
6) Went to see smaller son's specialist teacher. He is doing very well but has got confident and talks too much (!)
That's about it for today.
ETA - bigger son earlier - We're cultivating bacteria in science. I put my finger in some Elgar jelly. :-)0
