5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

villagelifeive been out of sorts all week with names of day! Because we worked holiday Monday then days off then in yesterday ...main colleague no better as she had the same problem....she thought we were Tuesday!
However , it is Friday already, 5.30am just had shower, just about to say good morning Haggis and quick walk and then his best time of the day ' breakfast time' ( second best is dinner time at 6pm.... and all the bits of food in between) He makes a funny noise from the back of his throat when he has a biiiig doggy stretch first thing and I feel special as I'm the only one who hears it, as I'm the one who gets up early every morning!
So some quick Thursday pleasures :
Work.....couldn't be @rsed! However...I phoned friend back home from carpark and had a chat instead of going in early. I'm always in early so I'm not caught in horrendous traffic if I'm driving. I don't get paid if I'm in early so just thought nah! Nice wee catch up for 25 minutes !
I did not madly rush to do a full shift in a 3/4 shift. Did what was needed and took my time. Had a nice morning and then......we have a new to us customer , who is rather odd and has taken a 'shine' to a couple of the younger girls. I reckon he's around 50, he's started being overly friendly / touchy and is downright creepy. This was the first I'd seen him. Sent main colleague into kitchen out the way until he'd gone. He is very inappropriate but I hadn't head him as I'd been outside chatting to a lovely chocolate lab puppy ( on my break) . I'm quite concerned at his level of interest in the two girls. It is not normal . To be kept an eye on! I spoke to boss later on and we agreed that it's not normal.
Home at 1pm, quick round of chores in our wee town with DD2 , who had sat her first exam. She has never done exams in a serious setting before....ie, everyone heads down getting on with it. More of the same today.
Knitting Nancy aka DD1 had walked in to next town for more wool to finish a scarf to match my hat she knitted.
Back to work! We start a new menu today so was having a practise session with boss and then taster session with all the girls. Anyway an extra couple of hours on the very low hours wage sheet! Had a chat on staying safe !
Some sunshine! It was so, so cold in the morning but once the sun got up it had a bit of warmth. Blue sky is much nicer than grey.
Right! I'd better get my day started, I'm only on until 12.30 and then not back until Tuesday ( for one day! ) ...onwards and upwards.
Poorly people , bashed people and fed up with work people have a better day .....it's so almost the weekend! Holidaying / working away from home people enjoy your new experiences0 -
greetings earthlings. it's thursday but dd has friday off so it seems like friday. and less than 20 hours till that cup of tea. can't wait!
1) glorious sunshine
2) went to work (yes a pleasure!!!) and first cohort stoof is all in hand. yay.
3) bizarre meeting at lunch. but even in a way that was a pleasure as i realise everyone is in this madness together
4) bussed down to town with friend for meal out with mates
5) and now home with snotty cat, and the view of the tay from my bed. life is good. oh and here's a quote for vjsmum but many will laugh then shake their heads knowingly
" it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization."MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1. Sunshine. All day - a real rarity here on the west coast!
2. A quick walk at lunchtime to get out of the office
3. Grabbed some flexi time to get home early and chill
4. Really chilled as I fell asleep for two hours!
5. Washing brought in, folded, odd socks sorted/culled, another load hung out
6. OH treated us to a takeaway for dinner. Not OS but definitely a treat!Looking ahead0 -
& you do need to take care of you - sounds like the fall has more of an effect than you are letting on! Please be careful!
Mhags - your schedule sounds exhausting! Hope MrMhags has recovered from his off day and is having more good days - when I read your posts it reminds me to stop moaning and get on with it! for that I thank you!
So pleasure so pleasures for today:
1. Study day and believe it or not I have studied all day! Started at 9 after a quick trip to Doctors to sort out DS meds before the weekend. Stopped for soup at lunchtime, stopped again to make a quick dinner for me and DS. Quick trip to drop off DS at cadets and pick up but that's it! Not written much but have definitely made progress with data analysis and sorting my discussion - read lots but my problem is remembering what I have read and where I have put it!
2. Lovely weather so got a load of washing dried (could have been several loads but too busy studying!)
3. Looking forward to DD3 coming back from residential tomorrow - pictures look like she is having a great time - can't wit to hear her stories!
4. Education strategy meeting all afternoon tomorrow - love planning education stuff - I think I am a frustrated academic - its much more fun than management!
5. Scrap 4! Yesterday I remembered why I do my job! Went to ward and it was manic, discharges, admissions, lots of unstable a patients. I answered buzzer (pet hate is unanswered buzzers) and ended up with an HCA doing a full bed bath! She thought I was assessing her I a thought she was judging me as seriously out of practice - had a bit of a laugh with the patient too (asked him to grade my efforts!) Reminded me of why I do what I do! ( now I need to find a reference that says its good for leaders to remain clinically visible!)0 -
Good day yesterday.
1. Free bus to work so I could read my kindle and saved me money.
2. Donated more books to League of Friends bookshop. Helps with decluttering.
3. Chicken salad for lunch.
4. DS2 cooked tea - stir fry which was tasty.
5. Spent time in the garden and weeded - the small area I did looks much better.0 -
MrsLW - love your decription of that wren!
Ampersand - dealing with folk's reactions to black eyes is *always* tiring. Very good call going rogue with fun stamps & a friendly postie! Scans show healing?
VJsmum - your lad has finished GCSEs? Well Done! Mine still has one more to go...
village life - why did just wearing odd socks never occur to me? Brilliant idea!
Frith - all health & strength to you & yours.
Dundeedoll - driving in docs I get but buying new cheap shoes? Eh?! Still h2only? Awed. "wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress" - deargodsyes
mhagster - ye gods exams & recovery and reduced hours & a right dodgy bloke? Bless you for watching over all your chicks & look after yourself too!
OS Pleasures recently
There's some sort of oversized very beaky dark duck diving on the river. For long enough for me to wonder had I really seen it?! Looked for today & just three mallards seen.
Reverbed (where did that usage come from?) a pound - the Fates are buying hot chocolates all round! Or possibly ice lollies...
Building site tea party - empty wooden cable bobbins are in play as seats & a table for a brew & biccie break on the sunshine! Frankly comical to see high vis gilets & helmets sat near basking, brews in hand.
Golly the markup on bubble wrap! The less you want the more it costs too. Offspring blasphemously impressed with the roll I (just) managed to get home.
Listening through open windows to children playing on the swings in the sunshine. All delightfully amicable & excited so far.
"A revolution is coming. And it's furry" proclaims a poster. Hm, the delight of a well exercised imagination is that it saves me a bundle on expensive tickets & disappointments. Furry, eh?... Haggis & Raffles & Isis (just as the first three to appear), oh my!
Ah, Whovian time! A Scout mum has an unabashed enthusiasm & an eye for a good T shirt. "Keep Calm & have a jelly baby" tonight. I can get a bit clenched-teeth about this poster for an event that never happened but not tonight! Some day I'll quilt that TARDIS duvet cover...
I've never been entirely certain why this 17th century ground floor loom shop wall has a deep niche in it, but I have to smile at the thoroughness with which is has been honeycomb packed with loo roll. Clearly a son Has Taken Steps.
Fascinated by what I am learning (of course After his death) about Christopher Lee. What's not to love about a military past with "Can you keep a secret? ... So can I."?!
There are those who opine, vehemently, that livestock should not be on the road. I confess that locally I rather enjoy the surprise of meeting a sheep & her lamb puttering along the footpath.
Wildflower patch thick with white and a few yellow flowers. Hip high & glorious...
Seeing my desk as clear and clean and welcoming to whatever stranger needs it for the next two months. The call centre must be fed fresh meat - at least I know I'll be allowed out in August as I've leave booked!
Huge hugs to all who need them, refreshing brews, lollies & warm huggy sweaters as indicated and every time you have to ring someone who probably Has to answer, try to make them laugh?0 -
1) we slept last night because we sensibly decided to just use the duvet cover and it was lovely!
2) the smell of 'after rain' after a shower while I was in town this morning, I was the only one standing out and enjoying it, everyone else scuttled for cover!
3) a walk with He Who Knows this afternoon down to the river and back along the lanes, just nice to be together and stroll.
4) a wedding party taking photos on the decking beside the public hard on the river, everyone happy, lovely dresses and little frothy bridesmaids jumping off walls, lovely!
5) Shopping shopped, lawns cut, walk walked and cuppa made all before the thunderstorms arrive, it's like a sauna down here so I hope they're not too far off, we could do with some decent rain for the veg plots. Nice feeling though of all is safely gathered in.0 -
Hi all have been lurking but have not felt able to post - family problem I wont bore you with ...
Really need to find some pleasures:
1. have lost almost a stone in 2 weeks
- not how I would have wished to lose weight but you know what they say - be careful what you wish for !
2. following in footsteps of topsyturphy.. bought myself a twirl and didn't share
3. car went in for service - they collect and deliver - phone rang to confirm car had arrived with their driver and to confirm the price before they started .... Was truly shocked - 4th year service & brake fluid change £543  Plus extra on top for engine flush/air con refresh and 2 new wiper blades.
Told them I wasn't expecting such a high price so she went to speak to service manager and came back with a revised price of £381. Extra for engine flush/aircon refresh so told them not to bother.
Final price including new wiper blades £418... still  but better than £543 plus extras.
4. They forgot to cancel the engine flush / aircon refresh so when she phoned me for payment it was £451... I said I thought we had cancelled this extra and it should be £418. She apologised and reduced the final bill to £418 so I got engine flush and aircon refresh for free
5. car has been washed and valeted as well .... I should think so too at that price !!0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗
Retired at 55 & now living off the equity £10k a year (until pensions start at 60 & 67).

3. Looking forward to a day out tomorrow
4.Tidied up a bit.

judi moan away! We all have stuff going on in our lives that's all relative to us individually. I'm still moaning.....in amongst trying to be superbly positive!
Well, it's Saturday morning here , I gave a dog on my lap and an iPad on his back .....so let's see how many spelling mistakes are made!
It's a very chilly winters morning, a big clear sky last night with just the tiniest sliver of a moon.
My Friday was fine, work was a bit hectic as had to be all prepped for new menu and usual stuff too. Worked on an extra hour.
Laundry money paid and I got $32.70 extra for Mondays hard work and DD2 got an extra $23 which was nice for her too.
Lovely drive home with a Beethoven CD blaring some rousing music
Really didn't do very much in the afternoon at all. Was reading / snoozing.
OH managed a walk around the block but has had a restless night so it may have been too much , pain wise.
I nipped out briefly to get some cash for sons birthday card.
Today will hopefully be a gently quiet day of doing not too much, a few chores to be done, should probably go to a supermarket at some point over weekend.
We have some visitors tomorrow so a bit of tidying required but not too much!
Have a great weekend.0
