5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Au lit directly.
Pleasures another time.
20+hr days since last post, to finally boot the Spain-bound couple on their way out door c.1700h Thurs for 2300h ferry. Still in Portsmouth, stuck. A tyre blew out 10 mins from ferry, at 60mph and tyre shred severed the brakelines{Mercedes truck.]
They are lucky to be alive. But, with Rental Co. argybargy/whose fault, nothing alters fact that all 7.5 tonnes must be unloaded and present vehicle repaired or replacement one loaded anew.
Sailing lost[only 3 weekly], of course...just the start of big money implications that do not bear thinking about.
& determined to match purple italics above. Thurs mid-morning, very very slowly, carefully, edging step-by-step 1/2way down 1st of 3 flights of concrete stairs and 2 landings, womanhandling sack barrow with pneumatic tyres and 3x40kg boxes thereon, well-strapped,[having over the week done fridge-freezer, 2 fridges, washer, 2 cookers, drier, dishwasher, dbl bed in bits, tables, chairs, sofa, lounge suite, over 60 boxes of books, cds, dvds, chine, glass, clothing, fragile furniture with glass doors, lighting, bedding, huge paintings and pics and many more, mirrors, shelving, 2 rooms of timber flooring planks, complete kitchen...total established household.] Sorry, but & is good at 'jigsaw' packing/layout planning and thinking ahead and driving things/people on. 1st day=chaos and everyone's disbelief that nothing vital had been done, although some packed boxes dated back to September. Anyway, urgent order and drive was needed and a ferry needed 2 passengers with a laden truck. Also have lower centre of gravity than tall blokies for easing barrow-loads down, hauling back at second of feeling first wheel bulge on tread edge. Then one by one and negotiating each landing according to type of load, girth, height etc. - some dragged, some swivelled, some stilted.
Guys could refine and sort truck loading outside.
[Also garden to clear, shed to empty and dismantle and remove, 2 walk-in lock-ups ditto and a landing and a terrace.]
Down I was going again and suddenly, one tyre went or lurched and & went with the lot, somersaulting with sack barrow and boxes, hurtling and bumping and crashing, mixed with 2 of the 3 boxes coming loose and doing same.
Race to the bottom.
Now repeat the purple passage...that's how I truly felt, feel, lucky to be alive and absolutely thinking same of friends.
This is already too long and there's still so much clearing out and cleaning up to do, with inspection tmrw at 0900h and meter readings at some point, which & will photograph[time/date]. & has had trailer throughout, loading for our charity's recycling and/or dump - 8 runs done and another outside right now for pre-8 in morning.
Hope to be done by mid-afternoon. I am alive, sore, purple, arms and hands doubled in size, thighs and knees ditto, all just from general tumbling and pummelling from box weight, edges, stairs and the barrow. But functioning.
Felt myself come slightly to and trying to flex my one free hand/wrist as people rushed out, then pulled stuff off me. I was headfirst diagonally prone on final stairs and thinking 'nothing broken. I'm alive. I'm lucky.'
Bed now. Have promised to seek Xrays if things don't stop but this must all be finished off first. I feel quite certain in myself that I have not broken arms or legs, which is all I need to keep going for the final day of this mayhem and in the end, speaking to S. who is in this with me despite own disabilities, said we would not want to be swapping places with Portsmouth end of this business right now....
Bonne nuit.

...and it rained heavily for 2 days and on/off throughout all other days. Just looking even now at my much less swollen hands and forearms as I do this, but they still look like fat grotesques, purple blown up balloons. Today, bruising has come through my palms.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

&, hope you're ok.
Eventful weekend at casa 'guin. Keats has been very quiet for a few days, which is massively unusual. OH wasn't convinced it was a huge issue, turned out I was right. Keatsy spent last night in cat hospital on a drip and is now stubbornly refusing to acknowledge his humans. As it was emergency care it cost a small fortune as well. Still, he is getting better (we think) and that's all that matters.
Due to chaos, we've been bad and had mcd for tea last night and takeaway tonight. Bad but so good!February Grocery Challenge - £120.63/1500 -

Vicky don't feel guilty about spending on such a rare treat, you'll have wonderful memories to last the rest of your life and that's priceless
& whoops. Hope the pains and bruises are going down
judi sounds like a great weekend, Blackpool is so down to earth it's no wonder you enjoyed it
Frith well done, you have worked hard and the bedrooms look lovely and fresh
1. To Cambridge area yesterday for Sunday dinner with friends. Our route was scuppered by A1M being closed northbound for several miles so we took the cross country route which was such a lovely drive. Lots of little villages with masses of snowdrops along the verges with green stems of daffodils pushing up.
2. My beautiful dinner was massive, Sunday roast with enough on my plate for three men and a gert dog, as my dear step dad used to say. Took some of the beef home for the mog and mutt, it didn't touch the sides! Banoffee flan to follow, I didn't like the one I had in a restaurant once but this was home made and delicious
3. It was a beautiful sunny day until just after dinner the skies opened for 10 minutes. the resulting rainbow was stunning, wider at the base than I think I've ever seen
4. Pottered around this morning pretending to do some housework which was just as well as a couple of friends called in on the off-chance so they stayed for lunch. Rummaged through the freezer and rustled up some prawn souffle omelettes.
5. I knew the service and MoT was due this month so thought I'd just check the last one - it was on 5/2/2014. Managed to get it booked in for Friday, that was a close shave!
Enjoy your evening0 -

After four weeks, BoPsie finally got a question right. Cheeses.
Bit miffed what the calendar of the common era is! If you no want to use AD, go and use the Mayan calendar!0 -
Evening everyone :hello:
I'm currently watching Police Interceptors. Strangely excited to see police questioning people outside various pubs I used to go to on a night out in the olden days in Lincoln. For olden days, read 14 years ago.... That was in another lifetime! :rotfl: For the record, I never had the need to speak to police officers as I was a good girl and generally the designated driver living far too far from the big smoke to get a taxi!
Pleasures for today:
1) Day 1 of my new to do list thing has gone well. Whipping through all my lists.
2) Trying to organise a school reunion. It'll be 20 years since we did our GCSEs. I still haven't grown up.
3) Yellow sticker chicken tikka for supper.
4) Been offered a stack of books by one of the parents at school. She's having a clear out at home and wants to donate some of the books to the class, if we want them. Oh yes! You can never have too many books.
5) Groupon deal for cinema tickets. Don't mind if I do!

1. Friend picked up their animals from our house chaos today, they have found a really lovely house to buy, pleased for them. We are keen to move but are trying to be financially patient for a few years yet trying to do improvements now to enjoy for a little while before moving.
2. A really good lidl shop, I knew exactly what we needed pretty much stuck to the list barring one item on offer that we use daily, a very cheap shop and helped out an older chap who was struggling.
3. Using up chicken pieces with cheesy potatoes tonight.
4. I have a rotten headache but carrying on as I’m researching for the interview, determined.
5. HM scones, fresh strawberries and fresh proper cream in the fridge I reckon that will have to be done later tonight.0
