Well done to your DD judi. Great news.
Happy Birthday to your DD mhagster.
    Ampersand hope your pain eases.

    Todays pleasures:

1 - My staff pulling together and supporting each other.
2 - OH has (hopefully) had some leave approved so looking forward to time together next month.
3 - Good catch up with a work colleague.
4 - Mother's day gift bought. Great deal and something that will be useful.
5 - Food shop arrived, everything I need for my weeks meal plan. And the delivery guys had some banter!

    ampersand - stay well

Yet another busy day. I have two magazines which are sitting next to me unread. Hoping tomorrow that I can start reading them.

New style of list making was going well until tonight (day 2!) because I seem to have been a little ambitious with what I am able to do!

    Pleasures for this evening:

    1) Yellow sticker fish fillets for supper, with potatoes and steamed veg.

    2) Chatting to an old friend. It's like we had never been apart.

    3) I'm sure that some of you have already seen it, but I've been reading this blog tonight: http://www.frugalqueen.co.uk/ Tells me things I already know, but always good to be reminded of it.

    4) We've started a book swap in the staff room at school. Need to put a book into it which doesn't make me look as though I only read trashy novels, which I don't but there's more trash than intellectual books in my collection!

    5) More washing. How do people with more than 2 people in their household cope with it all?

    Night all

Hope you're ok &? No wonder you have been growled at!!! Look after yourself please!
DD love the sound of the music in the Cathedral - sounds very relaxing.
After today I could do with some relaxation!!! Stressy day and still not sleeping!

So in an attempt to focus some positivity my 5 for today:

    1. Yellow thing out in force and washing hung out before work (Vicky washing never stops in my house with 3 kids at home!!!)
    2. Helpful chaps In work jump started my car
    3. Managed to get doctors telephone consultation and got what I wanted from them with very little effort - so health related drama averted!!
    4. Aromatherapist at work going to help me with sleep management tomorrow!
    5. DD2 tidied house and made tea tonight!!!

What do you say to a man who's teenage son has died? I last felt this bemused after a bike smash. RIP, Jack.

Purple kitten - if you've a preferred author let me know & I'll see if I've any kindle files of theirs? As life is indeed too short for bad books. Feeling better is sort of the point of all the masks, no? Love the idea of strawberries & cream & scones midnight feast! Don't take the weather personally, but keep the raincoat handy!
sparrer - delighted to think of you swimming & surrounded by flowers. Cats have to go? Darn. Glad you still had one to share all that roast with as well as mutt."three men & a gert dog" portion sizes have their uses...
DundeeDoll - hot Vimto is the business with Scouts by campfire, however otherwise yes, tea! I do like your DS priorities & hope DD2 can cope under the sartorial burden... Love the Lewis limerick, thank you! Awed that a tidy room can soothe not getting a PhD at Heidelberg - must try dominoes. You buy cards you're drawn to as well? (Can you find them later, as I struggle with that bit?) "coffee cake for half past tenses" - Hurrahs all round!
judi - an omelette is a lovesome thing. Sending a monkey to photograph more monkeys? Sounds a plan. With Rev Mother on 12 & 2 but have a special fondess for 3. Robins are characters. DD2 tidied? How do you manage this?!
villagelife - the boss free office is almost always a happy one. Your garden sounds glorious. Some colleagues worth their weight in rubies. Painkillers that turn meetings into a blur - regret the need but approve the outcome! Home made pastry? <Awe!>
oldtractor - hot chocolate is undoubtedly a special pleasure.
mhagster - a day off, gallivanting, sounds glorious! Have fun with the iphone - being able to take a photo & email it at once is the trick my mother is most awed by. Cleaning from top to toe - definitely sleep long for a couple of days! Hope DD2 having fun in designer togs - size 6 sounds not petite but microscopic...
BoP - congratulations to you & BoPsie on 28 years. Marmite soldiers, eh? You can too eat roses, once you've candied the petals, but it's a lot of faff. Treat BoPsie to real Denby. It'll still be working well at your 50th anniv. Bed chooped or angle grinder deployed (pretty sparks!)? New toothbrush often a good idea. Happy hols!
mandaguin - well done you preparing Y9 for Freshers week! Oh lord yes, "gone quiet" never a good sign, pet or child. Fingers crossed for restored health!
greywitch - how are you settling with the stuffed fox? Dehydrators are fun, but you need to be strict with yourself about labelling or you end up with kilos of home grown dried herbs that you can't identify. Keep a timer, sharp knife, roll of ziplock bags & a sharpie in the same box as the dehydrator?
VickyA - still impressed at your DH buying you flowers... Meal planning too?! Dubai flooded looks fearsome on google - hope your friend has clean water to drink. Donated books? splendid! Laundry in a house of 5 is easy, and ongoing, and like The Poor - Always With Us... Pick intellectual book from charity shop & put on top of pile of novels?!
Skint yet Again - all that sleep is Good For You (no matter what the papers say this week) when mending. Well enough to stirfry? Excellent! Tidying up is an act of virtue. Your trees have blossom? (Ours staying in bud form yet longer.)
Frith - wheelbarrow a wonderful thing to have. It fits into so many stories. Easter at Lake Bala may well be Cold, but beautiful. "Just to use the steak up" - best reason for a steak sandwich I've heard. Impressively tidy rooms!
kittikins - daylight & happy new schooldays - long may they continue!
ampersand - beloved lady, the lengths you will go to for a rattling good game of Mah Jongg. Hie thee to the NHS & drowse until they can confirm you are sound in skeleton & suggest exercises to ease the swelling? (Brandy for the discomfort.) Of course sore (more brandy!) & of course growled at (5 days? Dieu soit beni!), and declining plaster as have driving very understandable, just not wise. Accept the plaster & recruit Young Person as chauffeur?
Giddynmg - even a funeral can be cheerful if approached rightly. Steam train on a drive back great fun! Lord yes, Mother's Day - thank you for reminding me. <expectation management starts now>
VJsmum - kudos that weasel! I'd missed it completely - thank you!

    OS Pleasures recently
Scouts trying to creep up & sneak away with a noisy bundle of keys - not utterly silent but hilarious as different techniques are tried!

Blinking cold morning makes the furled buds on the cherry trees even brighter pinpoints of hope.

Sharing a path yet not disturbing a conversation between two finches. Pleasant tourists!

Colleague without children, hearing me fondly grumble over growing teens, birthdays & the startling cost of a good bandsaw, gave me the look that suggests just possibly my world & hers are about a universe apart. Which they are, but I'd not be without my lads.

The tailor is back! While the first messy raucous dig of the new building started, I wondered if he'd sold up - happy to be wrong & to exchange waves & smiles again!

Unexpected interest in matters sartorial from eldest - after the storm of GCSEs comes Prom....

"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory." RIP, Leonard Nimoy.

Last Leg & especially Adam on why you should vote.

"The nuclear dragons are coming!" Cried the boychick, winding a salad spinner [unexpected gift] as a siren...

I discovered a misplaced pile of postcards & spent a good hour crooning over Mughal elephants.

Son, eyeing sibling's kebab, cheerfully recounted how Food Tech was a good call as "girls go for blokes who can cook!" (Omitting the corollary that if they choose not to, damsel may take it amiss.)

River sprinkled with gulls sheltering from the wind.

Yellow stuff, even as I am stuck in an office & expect to drive home through hail.

Great big hugs to all who need them, Healing/Restorative Sleeps likewise, and may a robin approve your doings !

DigForVictory - I like the idea about the book swap! ;) As for DH, I've trained him well!

    My pleasures today:

    1) NPD! :j :j I've spent today at the primary school round the corner from home, whilst my student has been in my class with my TA!

    2) Posted a parcel to my cousin in Canada, which includes a pack of C*dbury's Flake. :D Her birthday card features a lovely picture of Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. I imagine her husband will be over the moon. :rotfl:

    3) Have booked for the Prado Museum when DH and I visit Madrid in a few weeks time. No queuing for us! :D

    4) Sausages for supper.

    5) Getting on track with this to do list... ish. :D

    6) Decided on my costume for World Book Day - a red t-shirt with the legend "Thing 1" (sign printed from the internet!). I do love Dr Seuss!

To tired again! Need to sort this sleep thing out!!! Driving me mad!

So before bed a quick 5:

    1. Lots of birds this morning
    2. Noticed buds on the honeysuckle, clematis and jasmine today (sort of a pleasure except I didn't prune them before the winter so now will be very wild unless I trim now and risk loosing this years growth totally - and I love them in bloom!!! decisions decisions!!!)
    3. NSD
    4. Better evening than morning with DS - who was horrible this morning but relatively ok tonight!!!
    5. Amazing staff at work giving so much of themselves to help a relative's distress - very humbling!!! (reminds me of why I like my job!!)

Night folks fingers crossed for a good sleep!!!

past my bedtime so best be quick
    1) another good day's teaching. Came back after coffee break and some of them were busy photographing their flipchart work (of which there are now many - they've been working hard!) so i think that's evidence they're finding the exercises useful
    2) run out of the usual pasta shapes. did macaroni instead. need to remember i only need half a scoop rather than the usual scoop of dry pasta! so i have tomorrow's lunch :D
    3) colleague had a bag of mixed nuts and doesn't like hazelnuts. i do so guess what i had for my mid afternoon snack :P
    4) gbf arrived just as i finished teaching and we headed for cineworld, bought our tickets for loves labour's won (much ado) live from stratford then off for a curry
    5) then back for the play. it was fab. and we got a discount for being nhs / uni employees. i paid for the tickets, gbf for supper, me for tea at the interval.
    night all sweet dreams
