Evening all ....from the land of much heat again! Ah well....cool day you were very nice yesterday :)

Early start , free train ride and facing forward on the train....have had to go backwards past few trips :(

Beautiful hot air balloons in the sky above the city at sunrise.they make my day better when I see them :)

Work was worky but fine....I'm on the countdown to new owner and changes ( hopefully positive ones) stress? You are very welcome to it new owner :)

Sat outside in the sun ( only as there were no tables inside ) at local cafe and had my midweek treat of pumpkin and feta tart and salad and a mooch through the paper.

Popped into op shop and bought a thick, quilted bed throw for $6 ( about £3) , it's rather nice and has been washed and dried in the hot sun...see the heat is good for some things) then went into Salvos and bought 2 dresses, one still had it's tags on so has never been worn.

Seeing as the ironing fairy has started uni , I did the ironing whist watching Holby this afternoon.

Hoovered, DS did dishwasher and we both took dog for a walk.

Had fried eggs on toast for a late lunch which was very nice :)

Postie brought a $15 voucher from supermarket loyalty card, thank you very much.

DD2 had another good day at school and was at her first away game for her sports team ( they lost) but had fun. Biatching seems to have abated for now thank goodness,

Have a happy day and happy anniversary to jenny and sparrer
kittikins great news about little Miss Kitty :)

  • Tut Tut, now yous gotten the BoP started!
BoP has got lost in transit ;) so ordered food online
Oh dear. Now let BoP explain, from the Book of BoP. Section 1 Chapter 1, verse 1. October 1978. Pelham Road. Cleethorpes. The old Eskimo factory, now owned by Findus, since demolished. Not far from Suggitts Lane level crossing, where the skills of life, and avoiding trains was honed at aged 6 months.

Production Manager to new Production Engineer Apprentices.

Company has subsidised shop, where you can buy a variety of items at much reduced cost. A staff canteen, that does decent Fish and Chips, rubs tum, on Frydays. Company has Sport and Social Club, which cost you lot 5 pence a week (Shilling to Sparra!), but you are not allowed into the bar as you're under eighteen. Company has pension [STRIKE]scheme[/STRIKE] scam, but if I were you lot, I would not put a penny into it, cause when you are to retire, they'll be nothing left. Never come top work in a new car, as your boss will suppose that you're paid too much.

Then, while explaining the first feral food noted by BoP, mixed vegetables, frozen, stated the following:

Never eat double processed food, that is food that has been processed once, and subsequently processed again. Ever. Food is processed such that it is safe to eat. Further processing adds risks to the food.

Now BoP does not want to worry people too much, but just remember, decent bubbles, foam, is best for relaxing inn the bath, not for drinks. Got it!

Next time, here is a simple offering that can be tossed off in a few minutes and certainly more exciting that trusting the dusting of chemicals on dated (apologies to concerned) Sparrow Legs!

    Rant Over

Anyone else wish to eat carp food and mention it on this thread? Sits down rubs tum!

5 Was inn Sparrshires last day, and flowed down to Stevenage for interview. Crossed fingers again.

4 Last night mes and BoPsie had a games knight. Two rounds of Backgammon, and BoPsie leads this week by 5 points to 4. Ah bum! No panic as we then played Monopoly, Standard rules and as BoPsie, who likes collecting stupid items like train stations, had no money left to purchase Mayfair, which was duly snapped up for £45, bar gun, by BoP. Also, as she had mortgaged her lot to purchase a house thingy, when she wented to demortgage the thingy, whe tried to cheat. Rule check was declared, and as rules are under the board, a corner up turn occurred. No houses were moved during the board upturn, and BoPsie was corrected. She still lost as all houses were sold, as such, no hotels could be built, because of the serious shortage of houses! BoP, although he suffered a wobbleade disaster, ginger beer, sinked as it was carp, eventually cleaned out BoPsie and crumptes, buttered with marmite (Proper supper Skint!) was eated with full burps. Rubs tum!

3 Shocked at the feral emporiums last day, as mentioned above double processed foods, the sparrow leg chicken, dusted in chemicals was very evident. And to believe me, I do not want to eat pre flavoredless foods. It looked carp. Mr and Mrs no food was in queue inn front of BoP as he waited with the wobbleades. they spent £90 on tripe. At waste £10 worth of snack junk foods were swallowed up. Now, as it is near time, have a look at the sugars on that packet of crisps! And the sun dried tripe toms cereal baked snacks, with added sugar? Sits, eats wholemeal digestive, with chocolate type coatings, and loose leaf tea. Rubs Tum.

2 Day BoP is mostly in blue, with string vest. Clean shaven except for chin beard.

1 Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference! wc

RightyTightyLeftyLoosey - corking project! Portlandia sounds like I need to find Netflix access. Tights & Converse rewards too!
CCP - all the best to your sister & may every tip your stitches taught you help her manage a broken arm.
Giddynmg - 30 day shred is hard work. Effective though. 3 year olds are *magnificient* creatures for dropping parents in it. I find sorting fond memories devours Hours in comparison to other chores. Shred does build confidence! Good feedback is a real joy & being already mostly packed - have a wonderful time!
judi - zoo & wheelchair & a propos songs: sounds a smashing day out for all! Awed at your friend's prosthesis! Hurrah cadet boots arrived & better still book & cuddle time. You don't need *things* to make a space for children to congregate, just the right attitude. Friendly tolerance will make your house the preferred hangout. Snowdrops! Nature's way of reassuring you that hope has foundation.
DundeeDoll - you have your own office?! <envious whimper> DD2 moved back with grace seemingly. Love walking dogs as part of soup - can only imagine it improves the flavour! I worked with a colleague who observed Lent pretty strictly but not only celebrated Sundays but also St.Patrick's Day. "meditations with bach's st matthew passion" - I need to find a church I feel as comfortable with.
sparrer - the children's drama sounds great fun! You are a marvellous neighbour - laundry is even more constant than tea in my life! Ironing to stay warm <shudders> and hands-and-knees scrubbing - I too occasionally as the satisfaction is worth every twinge. A green Jaeger sweater? Ooooh. Hope you got your full share of chicken from dog & mogs?! Swimming then hot chocolate - splendid stuff. 10 years on? Huzzah!
mcculloch - your mandoline is carnivorous too? Phew. Decluttering can be hazardous! Hope reflection & remembering brought a measure of comfort.
villagelife - families & timing & exams, eep - delighted all panned out OK! Kindle a vessel of pleasure as much as free bus. You dry stone wall? (You do know Pam Ayres' delightful verse on that?) Do you wear gloves, or just accept a certain amount of damage as part of the process? Excellent time of year to see Chinatown. Soup one of the easy-to-underestimate delights. Sometimes getting the little things done takes more wind-in-the-right-direction than the big stuff!
mhagster - hurrah! Someone who admits to using spelling to weed out potential employees. (Sons will be urged to look & consider!) As for pumpkins, my uncle prunes some of the runners for fewer larger healthier pumpkins. Hurrah DD2 settling well into new school & that month of fiscal privation drawing to a close? Hopeful that new boss/owner will be a good thing for you. Please get labyrinthitis tamed? DD1 at Uni already? Then OH to hospital and DD2 to appointment - reading material at the ready! "Ironing fairy has started uni" - darn, the perils of higher education.
ampersand - hoping the three breakages will be enough! Um, slightly different Let Her Go - google "frozen let" & run from there. Wielding the rhubarb sent me into the rough with google but this well worth the trip. "Simply to be warm" - oh yes. Impressive covey - net the fruit!
BoP - Ah, hankering. Lovely verb! Keep Raffles off the cheese! We had snow... Love your words of encouragement for the England cricket squad. Motivational. If an ailing Skint needs a feral feed, as long as it helps, surely it can't be That Naughty? Live Monopoly! "mostly in blue" - can't beat a classic colour.
VJsmum - any real bread makes a corking pizza, but we make 'em Thick. Vero Italian it is *not*! Freezer Nasty Shock for tea then - & yes, hie thee to a doctor pronto! You may have to take up decanting & chilling your wine. Chipper dad & steak & chips together - now that's a style of daughterly affection I think we should try. 8 in a Datsun? Whoo! Porridge sounds great - love those spices!
Kittikins - a former orchid farm? Blimey what fun to visit, & your classroom must be a feast for the eyes & mind! Well done on self discipline in MrW (overhear any good lines?) Sometimes a good sort out is rewarding - enjoy the shower gels while DD rightly delights in her pen! All good luck with trial day to you both! Sending plans to mentor may be useful time future - electronic storage can produce "here's one I prepared earlier" answers. Hurrah good First Day for DD!
Frith - oh midear, rest up & recover now half term is done? The Staffs hoard at Birmingham is glorious - the rearranged Stoke display less filling with awe. Round of applause to smaller son for cooking with bouquet for you for teaching him young!
Purple kitten - all luck with seeds & with taming runaway budget! Gardening with ferret a much under-reported pleasure. Um, ceiling or DH loud? All luck with interesting looking work. "Out of animal chicken" - that reminds me of Dad's joke about the school order at the butcher "20 pounds of boys meat"... Tube with ledges in it, climbing stairs & into bed <crooning>
Broomstick - dead right that occasional laziness is a real pleasure. Any slide towards habitual & my budget & waistline let me know... Is it too late to plant bulbs? Kaffe Fassett reminds me of the shock-and-awe of colour I last experienced in an Indian sari shop - glorious!
VickyA - welcome back from Dubai & hoping the change in temperature doesn't put you on the poorly list! Love the idea of "When Harry Met Sally apple cake" - certainly an "I'll have what.." temptation!
Rainy-Days - laundry basket Empty?! Awe!
Skint yet Again - bacon sarnies and DS quietly packing - how do you manage that? All strength wrestling with thyroiditis. The rain & snow have not cleaned my car, so not only do I need to clean it a bit, I even need to refill the screenwash. Dead right to eke out freezer with occasional feral fodder, til BoP refills it for you! The tea must be good for you, it's near homeopathic?
greywitch - the week has indeed shot past, but at least your allotment shows you've been there. My back garden shows I haven't...
oldtractor - welcome back! Hurrah for a morning cuppa & congratulations on not murdering neighbour.

    OS Pleasures recently
Lots of limericks. Largely light on innuendo but with loads of chuckles. Great fun to see how four folk seem to lean towards the same rhyming words even without reading each other first. Oh & family & marriage *very* fertile grounds for limerick writing.

Blimey - all done with a grin. The Asda evening baker & I have developed a rapport - all the requests & explanations are passed - now it's a warning "bit damp" & tales of success - our own rye loaf, the spelt rolls (with weapons...) & other half term bread baking exploits!

Made a colleague whimper with laughter - she'd never seen rhubarb washing up liquid before...

The first brew of the day. To the tick of heating kicking in & birds yattering & chorping on the roof above me. This is how days off were meant to be - starting pleasant no matter what unfolds!

"Is the app too advanced for you?" "Mum, it's too advanced for guys with no girlfriends." (As in postgrad nerds. Ah.)

Son's face when he got the big tub of margarine out & found he was holding just the tub... Never seen such a several-paces-from-the-cliff-then-Oh! expression on a real face before! (Still snuffling with muffled laughter days later - have to muffle - young male ego fragile.)

Daylight and birdsong to breakfast to!

Sorting new-to-us computer. Pleasure in having a *silent* computer rather than diesel tractor on desktop! We have to look at the screen to tell it's on. All the backing up of the old boxes worth it as we haul the carcasses to the tip!

Rehomed a map print - new owner so delighted, has framed it & hung it in his wall. Delighted an old freebie rescued from recycling bin to a real map enthusiast.

Star Trek time travel & consequences episode. "Dinosaur in SS uniform? You know you blew it" opined son, cheerfully.

Colleague left her mobile (has Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" as a ringtone - really very pleasant) & when she rushed back, there was a definite "aww, we were enjoying that" murmuring!

Found various reproduction Lewis Chessmen in a charity shop - discreet markings show they're licensed from the British Museum. I snaffled them as I love the Chessmen - both their histories & mysteries!

Big hugs to all who need them, prompt & thorough help to all who seek it, and (if you look for it) you can see Spring is coming!

We're getting better! It was looking dicey for a while (particularly at the point where bigger son was found fainted on the landing) but sons back at school today.

Here are some random pleasures for the last few days:

    1) Watched Casualty.

    2) New niece is behaving better ;-) and after 5 weeks of feeding EVERY HOUR managed a 5.5 hour sleep!

    3) Long chat with my school friend who has moved to Oxford for a new job.

    4) Bigger son has grown another inch! So now 5 foot 8 and an inch taller than me. He still weighs 7.5 stones though and is starting to look a bit ethereal.

    5) Nice doctor prescribed antibiotics for smaller son despite little cooperation from him.

    6) Watched Holby City.

Just had a flyer that the village shop is shutting. Meeting in March to see if it can be run by the community.

DfV - I love the Lewis chessmen too!
  • BoP - If an ailing Skint needs a feral feed, as long as it helps, surely it can't be That Naughty?

Oh fear, I thinks there I am Skint is hooked on feral food this week.
free meal confirmed as last nights takeaway arrived after the 45 minute deadline
Minds me that Raffles, Skull of Duggery has retrieved this day a half wasted chicken from someone's feral food waste. It must have been awful as it was hardly eaten It looked ...

Ah, as BoP's music was attributed to the fact that the University of Paisley did not have any bands, 21 years after the visit of Eddie & the Hot Rods in 1978, here is a link to the mobile phone ring tone!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GemKqzILV4w#t=15

Note we were taken aside in December 1978 during apprenticeship about the appearance of said at the GCOT (Technical College in Grimsby) and the subsequent writing of an dissertation on why what happened was wrong the following Monday, and a reprimand. Nine Individuals were unseated from their apprenticeships, without recourse, plus others elsewhere. As we were technically not eligible for the Refectory, we were excused from our contribution, see above re Sport and Social Club! I still see Mr Laing explain how good a lesson that was to us all and how lucky we were being under 18 at the time! How rewarding then, 21 years later to find the same had happened in Paisley!

Today, people would complain about the nine who were removed from their apprenticeships!

    1. DD said that her new school makes her feel like she's at secondary (as they move around to different classrooms for different subjects), or as if she's at Hogwarts. Both are awesome, apparently! :):)

    2. Fab day at school - even if the afternoon was taken up with penitential service comings and goings. 5 priests, one set of key stage 2 and a whole lot of confessing going on (but not for us protestants!)

    3. Had fun working out who was going to play what part in our Stations of the Cross service! Ah, the joys of Catholic school :)

    4. After her first netball lesson at school, DD has already been invited to join the 'invitation-only' before school netball training sessions! So proud of my academic, sporty, loving daughterkins xx

    5. Managed to get out of going to a course that I was dreading tomorrow morning. Talking about assessing literacy for 3 hours, especially with my very inexperienced method of assessment would have been torture!

    6. Grateful thanks to my fellow teacher, who has been opted in to attend instead of me :)

    7. Payday, even though my tax has STILL not been rectified :(:) for some money and, at least the rebate will be healthy when it eventually comes!
