Evening all
AWOL for a couple of days, with cake club and then watching "Unbroken" at the cinema last night with friends.
1) Watching "Unbroken". Incredible film.
2) Meal out with friends at P*zza Express last night. One of the friends is a current student, so we used her card to get 40% off the bill!! :j :j
3) Back early from work today, so walked down to the bank and post office.
4) Posted a small "thank you" present to my friend in Dubai. Hopefully she'll appreciate the Miranda DVDs.
5) Flowers which DH bought me are looking super gorgeous on our table. :j
6) HM spaghetti bolognese plucked from the freezer for supper. Yummy, even if I do say so myself.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Long day (3hrs drive to a meeting then 2 hrs back!) so quick check in before I try to get some badly needed sleep!
1. light at 7 when I left the house and still light at 6 when I got home!
2. Love the view over the hills coming home on the M62 - was tempted to veer off and go for a walk over the moors but wanted to release Rev mum from her child minding duties
3. Met some interesting peoples and got some clarity of though about a work issue at the meeting so worth the drive (and mileage will pay for new front tyres on car!)
4. Free lunch at meeting! was lovely too! not plastic sandwiches - got to say hospices do provide better hospitality then the NHS!!!
5. DS off report in school for the first time since September!!! (but might be back on it after reading his English homework!!! Apparently you don't need to know how to write these days!!!)0 -
Judi: Sounds like a really lovely but long day
DFV: Your posts always make me smile.
Feeling shattered DH’s earth shattering snoring as poorly, meant I was awake until 4 and up again at 7.
1.Made a few needed phone calls I have been putting off – one to legal beagles and another to o2 to cancel my phone as I have a three sim that is far better.
2.Decorating progress, 14 new handles fitted to the built in wardrobe, re sanded, hovered, re glossed all, possibility of the first coat of colour tomorrow – maybe.
3.Picked up prescription from new far friendlier pharmacy.
4.Did pop out to Mr T as had to shop for DF, there was a crowd for reductions I picked up some “proper” reduced ham and an 18p apple crumble and left them to it, apparently a kerfuffle happened heard it glad we were not there. We picked up a few bread bargains for between 6p and 10p. then all of DF’s shopping and headed home to cook.
5.Animal therapy.:rotfl:0 -
Frith - the next village along runs its own village shop successfully as the original one closed a couple of years ago.
Judi24 - it is so good to leave for work and arrive home in the light.
Kittikins - glad DD is enjoying new school.
1. Boss not at work. Put me in a good mood all day.
2. DS2 back at Uni after skiing came back with no bones broken or accidents. I have spent many many hours in A&E with him. He had a great time with the best snow ever!
3. Took some of my books to League of Friends shops - more trips needed but decluttering has started.
4. Coq au vin for tea.
5. Arriving home with enough time to go and see my chickens and watch them. Generally abit dark for this.0 -
'Tis evening time again
it's hot ...I'm over this heat , "autumn " will officially start on Sunday ...may we have some mellower weather please!
So today , I worked my socks off , I'm just in 4 hours after I'd intended, had to stay on as we had an environmental health inspection this afternoon because of sale of business. Luckily I did stay as we had an absolutely busy lunch and then when he did come ( which was later , as I thought he wouldn't turn up over a lunch service) by the time he left it was almost 4pm , so I stayed on and helped to close cafe and got a run home
I am cream crackered! However day off tomorrow to look forward to.
Was chatting with a customer today and he asked how long I'd been in Australia , 4 years I replied.....well you speak very good English for not having been here very long.....hmmmm....that will be the Scottish education I had that helped !
Walking to the train station this morning , still dark at 6.30am and a flock of bright green lorikeets flew over head as they left their roost, quite spectacular.
That's me for today , shall hopefully have more actual pleasures tomorrow
Have a lovely day0 -
Pleasures for yesterday (Wednesday)
1) Felt OK though not a good sleep.
2) Went into town to have a cup of tea with my school friend.
3) Looked round the charity shops and got a dress for me and a book for smaller son.
4) Started the post-being-ill tidy up at home as nothing has been done for a week!
5) Made a roast chicken for tea.
6) Sons very happy as we drove to the barbers to find it shuts on Wednesdays. :-/
7) Smaller son and I falling over laughing watching Great British Bake Off comedy special. Turns out smaller son is a David Mitchell comedy fan.0 -

Hi sparrar frith et all its good to be back0 -
Same old boring Thursday morning, everyone out, crashing their cars!
Guess what, More carp about feral foods coming up. Those aware of my love of foamed drinks, look away now!
Roast Chicken, socks worked off, mice at play, as the cat is away! New School. Animal therapy! Free lunch, non plastic sarnies. See, people are learning! Flowers on table. Tax man woes.
Now, about them double processed foods, cleansed and washed ready to eat. Want to try some today. Looks healthy, is extortion at the emporiums. Not Sparrow Legs today, but!

I know, Daily Mail, reading it smacks six years off your life expectancy! BoP's Feral Food watch!
5 Fingers have remained crossed for Tuesday passim.
4 Fresh sandwich tea last evening. Not that wheated herm bread, but proper floured stuff. Made with real butter and bits of cheese, non fridged, with crunch of onions to boot. Very tasty and no cheese was given to Raffles.
3 As a bonus the other day when checking the feral foods in emporium and see the Flavouredless Sparrow Legs, BoP duly retrieved off the shelf a good old fashioned health breakfast food, specially created for BoP. Monster Puffs, as they are now known. And with splashing of milk, demolished his serving this day with a smile. Jam on toast was also eaten.
2 Nite is Club of Camera, another battle with other clubs about.
1 Never look backwards or you'll fall down the stairs.0 -
Frith - dear gods, finding out-cold son is Scary. Delighted sufficiently better to return to school & we need to send BoP on tour to feed the ethereal being! Tidy up? Barbers hours are too often what you weren't expecting.
BoP - sundae is a pud of rest. Raffles: focus on the good stuff (& the yellow stuff)! If Triumph & Disaster are imposters, what is a graceful second?
Skint yet Again - I'm a firm believer in a bit of what you fancy. [Within reason!] Keep getting better!
Kittikins - Catholic school complexities will settle. Hurrah Miss KK settling so well!
VickyA - how *did* you train DH to bring flowers?
judi - the M62 east of Saddleworth (highest point on the English motorway) is glorious. Leeds spoils it!
Purple kitten - decoration is 80% preparation, 15% perspiration but the results should make you smile every day for weeks.
villagelife - isn't all this daylight brilliant?! At last you can enjoy watching chickens & I can stop seeing offspring only by artificial light.
mhagster - ye gods, Environmental health *&* a complete wazzock. Enjoy your lorikeets!
oldtractor - hurrah saving! You are amongst other Konverts...
OS Pleasures
"Well, technology ambassador as well! Is there anything you don't do?" (The Head greeting son). He prudently stayed quiet & I blinked at yet another honour unmentioned. He can't be being modest? (boychick!)
Food Tech Chilli is delicious but takes a lot of photos & editing & so on. Still, for a delicious meal I'm prepared to be late to the office to ensure son has *all* his photos!
Options Evening - I am present in an almost entirely decorative capacity. Son has studied the choices & planned his intentions. I quibble mildly over what sort of tech but it's him in the class & exam hall.
Cheerfully discussing the rival merits of tea & Vimto - and agreeing that Vimto theft is rare whereas milk is near community property in our office. (As I cuddle up to a tea with lemon - hot & sharp enough to cut the spreadsheets!)
The unexpected pleasure in a friend's voice as she realises we can get her books audited much sooner than expected. (She's generously forgiven me utterly forgetting for a month.)
Big hugs to all who need them, effective waterproofs where called for & if in doubt, brew up.0 -
1.I spent a couple of pounds on 2 kindle books, fed up with “dud” freebies, life’s too short for bad books.
2.Had a nap, mainly as DH is poorly I leaned on him and fell asleep for an hour:rotfl: leapt out of my skin when I woke up.
3. Made a curry for dinner
4. Paid the bills, leccy necessary evil:(, and the last – final bt one whoop whoop:T0
