Evening all
Have been catching up on the news somewhat behind the timesThanks for the links you've been giving. Awful.
Five pleasures for Thursday because the pleasures go on:
1. Got my overdue library books back at last. This is a pleasure because it's no longer stressing me out!:D
2. Did an efficient food shop which (touch wood) should last us for the next week and I've got a very complicated meal plan in place (an awful lot of packed meals this term).
3. Someone sent in a donation to our club to say thank you.
4. I got offered free tickets to 'Testament of Youth' for Sunday. Sadly I can't use them but I did appreciate the possibility. It's made me think that I'll try that tickets site again.
5. Very nice spinach, tomato and cheese stuffed omelette for supper.
Sweet dreams

Thanks for the good wishes - still no news. Hoping that means good news.
ETA - she's had the op, seems well and is back on a normal ward :T:j
Mhags - hope the labrynthitis has cleared. Glad it is cooler for you.
Kittikins - risotto is one of my favouritist things. We call it Riz oh toe in our house - I think that comes from the simpsons
Vicky A - thanks for the link. Like you i never thought i'd say "well said, Nick Clegg"
Mandaguin - Keats is a great name for a cat - I presume Cat, hope it isn't a child :rotfl:
DD - hot stollen with yogurt? that's a new one on me, i will try it sometime. where ya goin?
Frith - all in good time. Offer going in today, still don't know where some of the money will come from, but that is MY house
Never ever thought it would be somewhere we'd consider buying a house but it is the only place in the world where i feel no pressure. That has to be worth a lot. OH might well be (semi) retired in a year or so and would spend much time working on the railway there - so it does make sense.
McC - i have done the pen trick too after seeing permanent marker. I wouldn't waste my lovely perfume on it though.
Broomstick - nice pleasures, they do indeed go on.
Skint - enjoy your time off, good news on the insurance.
Chicken? Chiiiiiiicckkkkkkeeeennnnnnnn!! Where arrreee youuuuuu?
Pleasures for yesterday
1. DD passed her driving test :T  First time too! Says its great as she will never have to get in a car again :rotfl: it's a shame that she's going back to uni tomorrow as she cant get some practice in now until easter. Still it can all happen in her own time now.
2.Went back to my ladies tap and modern class. Used to do it years ago but the times became too difficult with ferrying children. It was fun
3. Made a cracking veg curry for a fast day dinner. Lots of anti inflammatory spices, all for 250 cals, a big bowlful too
4. OH brought a test drive company car home, so "took the jag for a spin" :rotfl:
5. DD actually went out with friends. She is a real home bunny. came home three sheets to the wind
Have a lovely day all. Batten down the hatches, DDI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Seems I have been blocked again, just lost a long post.
Nice day , very productive in afternoon.
Enjoyed cool, wet weather.
Spent a blooming fortune on school uniform .0 -
Not posted for a while.
Had busy week at work and stayed late to finish stuff off and so next week I can start with little outstanding work and it means I can enjoy my day off more.
Had a lovely walk today in the sun and saw loads of birds eating the leftover apples in the orchard.
My dog is walking better now she's on new medication.
Saw a neighbour for the first time since christmas and had a chat.
Unfortunately had to take DS's car to garage - haven't heard how much it will cost me yet! but it did tie in with trip to post office and it was a good walk home - the garage is close to postoffice at the other end of the village about a mile and a half away.
Spent very little money this year so far.0 -

Evening all
Yup, blustery is what I would describe as going on outside at the moment. Typing that just made me remember that the Rotaire is still up with washing on it so I've gone and brought the dry clothes in (this wind has to be useful for something) and put the line in the garage. DS2 is stuck on a train down to the West Country atm - a journey that should have taken under 3 hours is going to be about 6because of the weather and branches on the line etc. Then he has a 20 minute walk at the other end on his own well after midnight
. I'm not going to be able to go to sleep until I know he's arrived safely.
However, I will find some pleasures for Friday:
1. DS1 who drove up the M1 this evening has arrived safely. (Is there an emoticon that says 'thank goodness'?)
2. I am nice and warm and dry indoors with the fire blazing and a big cup of decaff.
3. H/m apple and parsnip soup with a mozzarella and tomato filled wheat-free roll for my supper then kiwi fruit and greek yoghurt for pudding.
4. Rescued a pair of DS2's 'old' tracksuit trews from the charity/rags box. I asked him what was wrong with them and he said the knee had a stained oily mark on it and it hadn't come out in the wash. So I've given it a good scrub, washed them again and the mark has gone. If he doesn't want them I'll shorten the legs and use them myself!
5. Clean bedding which smells fantastic courtesy of the blustery wind. Looking forward to going to bed (when DS2 has texted me).
Sweet dreams

1. We had a super evening yesterday celebrating DGS3's 21st and DGD2's 18th birthdays. Lots of family and friends which made for a lively atmosphere.
2. Gave DGD2 the bracelet my great aunt gave me. That lovely lady had three jewellers shops on IoW, she gave several pieces to family when she retired. This Victorian bracelet was given to me for my 21st, when I was very much slimmer, it's very tiny so now only fits the very slender wrists of DGD2. She was thrilled, shaking and tearful when she put it on.
3. We went to an Indian restaurant of the DGC's choice, then back to DD's pub for cake and champagne (and my soda water, never liked champagne anyway!)
4. Today I've felt shivery and sneezy so stayed home and kept warm in my pink Christmas leisure suit and suede fleece bootee slippers. Thank heavens no-one came to the door, I looked like an old granny. I know I am but don't want to look like one! Sneezes seem to have gone so will fight the gales and get to the garden centre for some much needed potting compost. I'll use the voucher DNeighbour gave me and try not to spend more than that.
5. The final poppy has arrived so I can plan where I'm going to 'plant' it.
Sweet dreams0 -
That's lovely to read about the bracelet, Sparrer.
Pleasures for today (Friday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to Ludlow for a look round.
3) Charity shops good - T shirt for smaller son (the National Trust one with 50 things to do before you're 11, brand new with tag on!). Hard Rock caf! t shirt for bigger son. 2 jumpers for me (Next and FatFace). All from Oxfam. Final shops had a Tog24 coat for bigger son that must have been pricey new. Got all sorts of pockets and gadgets and has been washed now and is drying ready for him to wear to wassailing tomorrow!
4) Went home via Church Stretton for a change and to look at the Long Mynd. Bit windy!
5) Sons had a good day at school.
6) Bigger son had a couple of inches of hair cut off. When he walked home from the bus stop the other day, I spotted him and you could just see a little nose poking out through the hair! The hairdresser dusted him down today and said "Mother, I was allowed to reveal one eye!"
7) Tasty tea of HM shepherds pie with tiger bread then a shop bought plum bakewell tart.
8) Enjoyed the Last Leg.
9) Bigger son not long home from role playing.
Sitting in bed now hearing the mouse run around the trap in the attic, but never on to it....
Got to be up early again (wanted a lie in after the first week back at school) as (fanfare) the plasterer is coming to do sons' room!!!0
